  1. Yeah seriously, he needs to get his ass busy and make it finishable quality. And speaking of finishable quality, Ben, the whole Spirit's Grave panning issue... well since my computer wiped a few weeks back, I have nothing left of the work file. No kidding eh? If you still don't like the second edit just use the first one, it's up to you. I think I'd cut myself if I had to do it again, or something along those lines
  2. I'm really digging what you've layed out with this mix so far. I'm sure the final track with complete vocals and story will be pretty kickin'. Just a recommendation, but I'm totally feeling some DnB after the skull kid laughs and you finish off saying "stone tower". After the bass comes in and there's that nice filtered drum build-up, it would be a perfect moment start producing some tasty (and you can quote me on that) drum beats.
  3. The Pokemon we want are mutated by nuclear chemicals and radiation. The ones we have right now are mutated by farts and sunshine.
  4. I still say plan to change the water sample later on. The kicks on the drums lack "oomph" and kind of sound like and unpolished recording. The second half with the lead piano could use some more accompaniment so I'd bring in that bassline at least there. Some small appearances of other instruments harmonizing with the lead would help too.
  5. Gotta admit though, those five notes are amazing. All the instruments except the guitar are synths, so if you're expecting something real, then don't. Thanks for the feedback.
  6. OMG it sounds so familiar, but I just can't think of the right source... Definitely sounds like something from a bar.. or something... whatever, I'm not going to try and figure it out
  7. OH. Now I remember what I was going to say. I was thinking you could probably do with a better sample of flowing water, the one you're using now seems a little fake and / or low quality. Might as well add that the violin in the beginning is pretty nice, though.
  8. For some reason I've been seeing mixes of this song pop up a lot lately, and not just on OCR, but outside sources as well. Can't blame anyone though, it's an amazing source tune. Anyway... this is my take on it, and it's pretty much in a completed state. I just need to fit it to OCR standards first. I know some of the samples might sound a bit rough, but hopefully they don't compromise the piece too much. Just let me know what you think of it so I can get a feel of where I am at with the track.
  9. I like the way you're heading with this mix here. Definitely not a fan of the drums though, but thankfully you're planning to change them. If I may suggest, try having a kickin', audiable bassline come in a little before the melody with some filtered percussion. Good atmosphere too, but I would add some more instruments just for a little more background. Not saying make them definite parts of the song, just something that would make someone say "oh I heard what he put there" or something along those lines. If you could, also link the source material?
  10. Fist of the North Star jokes are overused, and yet they're always amusing, sadly.
  11. Hey Sock, I saw your WIP of the Mining Melancholy, or whatever the name is. We need that kind of bad-ass mixin' in here, if ya know what ah mean
  12. Alright, so Mr. Lemon and I finished a track for Goron Caves over the past few days, and I think it turned out great. His arrangements never cease to amaze me . Let us know what you think... I'll leave it to him to post it on the project forums.
  13. Not to be an ass, but... "I hear remixers such as Sixto Sounds, Usa, The Joker and Abadoss are involved." Come on Rozo needs some love too. "*drools* You don’t know how long I’ve waited for this…=D I just hope it won’t suck like most of the albums to come out of OCRemix. =S" -Mike, a commentor WTF?!?! That's all I have to say
  14. Hey Rozo, sorry to bring some bad news, but I'm going have to withdraw my claim on "Can You Fly, Sister?" Due to a series of unfortunate events my computer ended up being wiped and I do not have my work file anymore. Everything was lost and I have pretty much lost all motivation for continuing my work, for now anyway. I'll leave you to open it back up to someone else who wants it. Sorry for this.
  15. I think if anyone wants to see a Golden Sun project succeed, I would suggest leaving the organizing to someone "famous" per se. I'd say at least 70% percent of the work needed to get a project started is getting people to participate, if there turns out to be one. As unfortunate as it sounds, ReMixers would much rather trust someone well-known / respected on OCR or another musical source, rather than a "nobody" as harsh as that seems.
  16. If you need some good samples to start with, here is a great place to start: http://soundfonts.darkesword.com/
  17. Man this week had some really good entries, it was too hard too choose who to vote for Best of luck to you all. I should be submitting next round hopefully, unless the song doesn't click with me :/
  18. Please excuse, the double post, but I have now completed the Spirit's Grave track I call "Tombstone Factory". Please let me know what you think; I myself think I could have done a little more on the mastering, but you can only do so much. Anything you feel will make it more awsm please feel free to express. It will be posted on the Project Forum shortly.
  19. At ease, I finally got it to work. I had completely forgotten about Safe Mode, so I fixed it running from there; for now anyway. Expect version one of my Spirit's Grave mix tonight, once it's done rendering. FL studio can be touchy when it comes to rendering time, I just don't understand sometimes
  20. Rofl I totally didn't catch that pun, but it somehow works. Anyway, another big thing that Fishy touched on was the warranty; I'm really interested in having some pretty long coverage on EVERYTHING. Sure, individual parts might have their own warranty, but who knows how credible they can be. I also happen to know that if you're in need of a replacement for your warranty and your model is too old (which really isn't that old) then Apple will just give you the latest version, free of charge, which is pretty cool to me.
  21. It's not that I have the idea in my head that they're better, it's just that I'm sick of PCs. I've pretty much been stuck with them my whole life, never actually being able to choose my own standard, but between them I just prefer using a Mac much more, they're easier to manage. Not only this, but I'm friends with an expert on the subject, so it's like free immediate troubleshooting or support service. Not to mention some other free bonuses. But thanks for your info everyone, especially Arcana. I already did quite a bit of research today actually, and I believe I'm going to go with a 24" iMac. I realized that I wanted a notebook because it's less of a hassle, but I completely forgot that iMacs were also basically one piece. Perhaps I might regret it down the road, not building my own PC, but hey it will be my fault then. Besides, I checked out Logic Pro 8 today, and it's looking even more kick-ass than I thought.
  22. I just want to say PCs are made for gaming, everything else is probably best suited for a Mac, or so I've heard. There's also Bootcamp which will run FL Studio just fine. In FL Studio I pretty much relied on a sample library for my work, but VSTs are a near-future possiblity. I know Logic is great with Macs so I'll probably end up with that if I decide not to get FL, although I'd rather not have to learn using another DAW. I'm not planning on doing anything professional, but I'd prefer professional-quality work. And Jewbei, there's no question about a choice about getting a PC or Mac. I'm getting a Mac.
  23. Some unfortunate news to all; two a day ago my PC finally crapped out and I'm still trying to recover all of the projects I've been working on. I have pretty much no access to anything, but I'm still currently trying to get my work onto a flashdrive. It's really pissing me off because I was almost done with some of my best work on Spirit's Grave, but of course something bad to happen. I will be trying my best to get a new computer ASAP, so any help would be appreciated as far as suggestions would be great. I posted a thread about it in the Community.
  24. Okay, so some unfortunate events happened to myself over the past two days or so, and it so happens that my PC has become useless. Due to various issues I'd rather not discuss, I now need to purchase a new computer. I've been thinking, or rather wanting, to get a Mac to continue my mixing hobby, more or less, but I'm not sure what I should really go for because it will have to last me a while. I had been thinking about purchasing a Macbook for 999$, but I'm not entirely sure it will cover all my mixing needs. A bigger screen would be nice, but I'm not incredibly picky. I was curious if I should just invest the money in a better model like the Macbook Pro or iMac, rather than settling for the cheaper version of the Macbook. I'm a user of FL Studio which I know doesn't take a whole lot good specs to run well, but I might switch to Logic or Reason in the future. Any suggestions? Feedback will be greatly appreciated.
