Some 'Tales of' games, or the Disgaea serie. But there's obviously more on the DS considering the Snes library remakes. Crisis Core is one of the games I anticipated the most, as was Dirge of Cerberus but that's another story. I liked it a lot but was just pissed off because basically FFVII DoC was like the test engine for Crisis. Anyway, for a handheld game it sure was visually impressive. The atmosphere and music were right on mark, even though Uematsu wasn't in control. And the story got me hooked till the end. Only drawback: the side quests... er, missions. Past some point, it just reveal the monotony of the landscape. And fighting 45 Genesis clones in one dungeon isn't going to make me want to get every invocation or piece of equipment hidden in there. The main quest is wonderful and answers most of the questions we had in mind previously. The fan-service was solid too. Crisis is one of the greatest game of the PSP, and an awesome A-Rpg overall.

I'm glad not to be the only one thinking that there's an obvious lack of investment in this piano-remix process! It just sounded a bit cheap to me, and by that I don't mean the sample quality. Meanwhile, work is in progress. I Should be posting a new remix this week. By the way, I'm planning to go for a one track per week basis, and hopefully cover all the album before the end of the year. That will of course never be promotted as an OCR album, as I got no star power and credibility. So no one would like to collaborate. Considering the time since this thread have been around, not so many people seem to be interested in making or listening to Treasure remixes. So for the people that have posted here or follow this topic, and seem to value one of the greatest and under-represented title and soundtrack ever: This little project will be for you. I hope you'll appreciate it.

Very recently, someone went to the trouble of redoing most of the tracks in piano version. You can check them here. Maybe he was reading this thread, and he got impatient... Anyway, it bugs me that this sounds like plain midi renditions in piano. What do you think?

That would explain why the people were trying to make animated gifs synchronise and look like a videoclip then...

Meanwhile don't forget to get d-d-down with Zelda.

Holy sh... I wasn't prepared for this, no one can prepare you for this.

I've done quite a bit of hip-hop in my days, but that was quite unique. It wasn't aimed to performance in terms of flow, unfortunately, I couldn't understood the lyrics. But the beat was highly dangerous indeed... and the views are increasing steadily I see. Keep it up.

What are you listening to?

Michiko Naruke - Morning of the Journey (Wild Arms complete ost) -
No, not even close to. Some were saying things about vicking pillaging and breaking stuff. I've got absolutely no clue on this one!

Youtube channel here. Enjoy.

I sent you a PM. New version uploaded.

Quick question: are the discussions / votes all being held on IRC? And if so, could someone please point me toward the exact channel? Thanx.

The main problem I'm facing is that the whole soundtrack is pure awesomeness! I can't go wrong or else I'll end-up destroying someone else childhood memories. But something is definitely on it's way...

Allright, so i tuned in... and it was enjoyable. A bit of mayhem occured, but there's got to be some of that too! But really it was fun... at least for the short period of time it lasted. Lost the connection many times, maybe cause of stickam, dunno. Anyway, that was some crazy stuff you threw in here Dyne. Hope the show can last till the end next time. ps: just who's this "technovicking" everyone was refering to?

Possible OCR soundtrack project for a game I'm working on
Dj Mokram replied to FireSlash's topic in Recruit & Collaborate!
Whew... seems I've just avoided being musically cage-butchered by an OCR judge, one month in the making. I'm obviously thankful Fireslash for having listened to my wip, even if you end up never making a training stage. Good luck on your coding process. -
Wow, Thanx! It's a great honor to be part of this. Hope to hear your input on what should be improved, so I can hopefully move toward a more finalized version soon.

Exactly. But I didn't get that first time. When I replayed it I made camp in the 2 Islands (Closest To Heaven and Hell) and I leveled up like crazy. I spend some time getting good cards on triple triad, and flip them for Holy War & such. Crushed Omega Weapons & Ultmecia/Griever without effort. Wasn't fun, but finally I got to see the ending.

Damn IRC app refused to connect yet again... I'll get that thing working someday! One hour compo was really challenging, especially since I usually take all my time making music. Everyone came up with awesome tracks. That was great. Hopefully I'll be back next time.

I did use the game-genie to beat that horrible Simpson game on the NES. And the action-replay actually allowed me to be able to play Lufia Fortress of Doom on the snes. But I couldn't even save, so I had to play it non-stop all day long... I'll never forget that. I didn't finished FFVIII the first time either. I hated the fact that after spending countless hours leveling up characters, you just ended up unequipped and powerless in the castle. But I did finish FFVII... in japanese. More recently, I remember helping a friend get started at Biohazard 4... I ended up being the human walkthrough. To the point where he couldn't open the next door without asking for my advice beforehand.

I know this project is on hold right now, but I'm working on the Cossack Stage 3-4 in the meantime. As a Rockman fan, I can't let that project to just wither an die.

OCR00217 - Metroid "Space Orchestra"
Dj Mokram replied to m68030's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I love the Kraid theme from metroid. I could listen to a thousand of its iterations. This one really makes you realize the progress made and the difference in terms of standards here at OCR. So well, let's go back in 2002. The first few notes made me anxious as to what was coming next. Slowly but surely, the other instruments come along and give more texture to the whole. The song conveys a feeling of loneliness, of being lost in space, in a place far far away. We're not talking about the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra here. It's very minimal, and meant to be that way. It's clean, sober, and effective. I guess I like it because it stays very much faithful to the original. So considering my opinion is partly biased, don't hesitate to make up your own. Listen to it. -
Laptop batteries while plugged in
Dj Mokram replied to Super-Duper Sombrero's topic in General Discussion
That's exactly what I said... I just forgot to mention the cell part. -
I don't know why, but the mix feels a bit heavily panned on my right ear. You were right about the dynamics, need some upgrade. Your "jazz" section could use some balance on the horn part, and some more brushes. The rythmic pattern isn't as present as it should be, to give it that broadway feeling. Overall what it lacks is some more swelling, to make us feel the rise in emotion. And I think that's what you should work on, to give this song the whole theatrical love story vibe it should convey. Now that's what I call being imaginative! Keep it up.

Laptop batteries while plugged in
Dj Mokram replied to Super-Duper Sombrero's topic in General Discussion
Sadly, in general few people really care about the proper way to use their devices anymore. If you leave it plugged in, your battery will discharge itself even when your laptop is turned off. Well it's almost like any other device, say, mobile phone for example. Supose you put your phone on charge before going to bed, and it's charged in two hours. There will still be voltage runnning through it during all night. And it will surely have some negative consequences on it in the long term, to say the least. No retailer will tell you that, cause if you come back 6 month later cause your battery died it's his win. I would strongly advise you to plug your battery off of your laptop if it's already charged. -
