Help with musical theme for our production, if possible...
Dj Mokram replied to Halcreix's topic in General Discussion
Looks like someone already produced a song. See, with a proper description that was quick. Well, if you're still interested, I can compose something for it. Having many songs (if anyone else participate too) is generally a good thing. It may help diversify the sound & emotion showcased in that promotion trailer you're preparing. -
PRC143 - Let's remix some music data (Dare to Dream 1/2)
Dj Mokram replied to Bundeslang's topic in Competitions
I was way out of my league here! I got myself crushed like a roach. Well, I did this one in 2 hours, I can't complain. Also, luved the constructive criticism, particularly the "get new samples" and "this sounds like Fruity Loops" ones. -
That's a wonderful idea! But I'm afraid I would fill an entire page with my sole VGM related 'to do list'. Let alone my life objectives. Not that I'm that busy, but I have a tendency to split thing into thousands of tiny other things & so on... So I'm gonna step down quietly, and remember what the great sage CHIPP D used to say:

Dj Mokram replied to Halcreix's topic in General Discussion
Allright that's much better! Now I think I'm starting to see what genre could fit here. But let me ask you: in terms of sound, what is the production value / quality level that you are expecting? -
Killer Cuts was the shit back then... fortunately I still have it somewhere.

Support OCR Month 2009 was a triumph!
Dj Mokram replied to big giant circles's topic in Announcements
I'm fairly new here. But I've found a formidable and unique way to express myself & to reach people all over the world with music. And that wonderful mean of expression & sharing is OCR. Therefore I'm more than willing to participate and support the site when I can, so I've made a 50$ donation. It's not much in comparison to the knowledge I've gained and the fun that I had since I've joined. But I hope this contribution helps making OCremix an even better place. -
OCR01826 - Chrono Trigger "Fight for Our Future!"
Dj Mokram replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
That Mr Nekofrog is as mean as ever, and he proves it once again. I'm not a guitarist, but I'm a CT fan ( and unlike a certain evil character, I'm a fan from the game too ). And as a fan, having recently remixed a CT fanfare in rock, I'm more than happy that competent people with real knowledge of both the instrument & music in general give this song the tribute it deserves. This remix by Nekofrog is to Chrono Trigger what was Snappleman & Norg's Full Frontal Assault to Final Fantasy 7: justice. You want some nice rendition that amplify the original to boost your energy for the day? You're served. You want some clever use of source mixed with subtle but necessary variations? You're served. You just want some pure & right to the point kick-assery? You're served. I know it's no technical review here, but I tried to give you a feel of what 'fight for our future' gives you. Well, it simply gives you the adrenaline rush that you need. Go grab it! -

Dj Mokram replied to Halcreix's topic in General Discussion
Hello Halcreix, To answer your question quickly and precisely, you may be able to find people wanting to help you in your project... But people would feel more compeled to do so, if you were to give them a little bit of information on the project in question. Do you have a synopsis already? What genre it is? And more importantly: what kind of music do you seek to suit your project? (genre, lenght, format, etc.) Just give some precisions and I bet the nice people here will be more than willing to help you. -
Please refrain from any demonstration of amazing artistic talent so early on. (Meaning = that will fit perfectly on the front cover thanks... ) You know I may need to comission you as the art director, as what you've done in your sig far exeed my actual design talents!

Chillout Gario, there's still 1 week left. In the last PRC, people posted in the last hours before the deadline. I can't speak for others, but I'm still searching for an approach to remix your song. As of now, there are still some pieces of the puzzle missing for me.

Dj Mokram replied to Bundeslang's topic in Competitions
Too bad SKR, wish you could have submitted this one. I hope you get luckier (i.e. try avoiding internet kiosks) next time! -
Even if the boss in question is not on your list? (I was thinking about Nemesis from Biohazard 3)

Best display of sarcasm I've seen since 1956. Looks like GhettoLee hired you to do a man's job... If you please excuse me, I need to go pee my pants and cry like a little boy. -
The Best Hardware for ReMixing?
Dj Mokram replied to TheKrow's topic in Music Composition & Production
Yeah this makes sense, as the workstation also need some physical working components to run properly. I guess the term 'sequencers' would have been more appropriate on this occasion. Don't like the word 'trackers' though, cause it would imply a limitation in what the sofware really is capable of. It's pretty rad indeed! But if you're not a 'real time fx' freak, it could still help people getting started with a DAW...er, I mean a sequencer. Even though in that case, Reaper or FL would be a more appealing alternative. -
Legend Of Zelda Labyrinth Theme Remix
Dj Mokram replied to jabond23's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Just listened to the lastest version... Man this is one mean remix! Get you in the mood to butcher some skeletons & blue knights in dat damn dungeon! Great atmosphere, luv the work on the synths (I'm learning the ropes myself), and the guitar leads the song in a powerful way. My main complain, well you might not be awaiting that at this point, but I'm telling ya anyway : The guitar litteraly devours the rythmic pattern. Those kicks & snares need more energy! Consider giving those drums some more impulse so they can pack as much punch as the rest of the instruments. I can't really judge the guitar skill cuz I don't play guitar. But it seems at some point (almost middle of the track), that the death chords de-synchronize a little bit with the tempo... Might be me dreaming that too. Overall great job, it rocks. -

Reminds me of the korg nano serie: The OP-1 kind of like merges them all in one. Sounds promising. -

The Best Hardware for ReMixing?

Yeah, but they're less known: Renoise, Nuendo, and the mysterious Krystal. -
When I was young, I used to think a hardcore gamer was any guy owning a NeoGeo and playing to Fatal Fury 2 or Art of Fighting. Today we whine for a 50$ game... but one Neo-Geo cartridge costed 400$! Who the hell could afford the price? It doesn't get any more Hardcore than that!

Thanks for the support Selios! And don't hesitate to join the fun, the more the merrier. Anyway, I've done some sketches for the next tracks, but I won't be releasing anything this week as it's not ready yet. Got my handz full, but In the meantime, I'm working on something for the cover... Yes there will be a cover, and maybe even a tracklist of sorts. This is some crazy stuff goin' on here! Well, see ya 'Treasure' fans next week with hopefully a new remix to share. Headdy? GO!
