I know this project is on hold right now, but I'm working on the Cossack Stage 3-4 in the meantime. As a Rockman fan, I can't let that project to just wither an die.

OCR00217 - Metroid "Space Orchestra"
Dj Mokram replied to m68030's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I love the Kraid theme from metroid. I could listen to a thousand of its iterations. This one really makes you realize the progress made and the difference in terms of standards here at OCR. So well, let's go back in 2002. The first few notes made me anxious as to what was coming next. Slowly but surely, the other instruments come along and give more texture to the whole. The song conveys a feeling of loneliness, of being lost in space, in a place far far away. We're not talking about the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra here. It's very minimal, and meant to be that way. It's clean, sober, and effective. I guess I like it because it stays very much faithful to the original. So considering my opinion is partly biased, don't hesitate to make up your own. Listen to it. -
Laptop batteries while plugged in
Dj Mokram replied to Super-Duper Sombrero's topic in General Discussion
That's exactly what I said... I just forgot to mention the cell part. -
I don't know why, but the mix feels a bit heavily panned on my right ear. You were right about the dynamics, need some upgrade. Your "jazz" section could use some balance on the horn part, and some more brushes. The rythmic pattern isn't as present as it should be, to give it that broadway feeling. Overall what it lacks is some more swelling, to make us feel the rise in emotion. And I think that's what you should work on, to give this song the whole theatrical love story vibe it should convey. Now that's what I call being imaginative! Keep it up.

Laptop batteries while plugged in
Dj Mokram replied to Super-Duper Sombrero's topic in General Discussion
Sadly, in general few people really care about the proper way to use their devices anymore. If you leave it plugged in, your battery will discharge itself even when your laptop is turned off. Well it's almost like any other device, say, mobile phone for example. Supose you put your phone on charge before going to bed, and it's charged in two hours. There will still be voltage runnning through it during all night. And it will surely have some negative consequences on it in the long term, to say the least. No retailer will tell you that, cause if you come back 6 month later cause your battery died it's his win. I would strongly advise you to plug your battery off of your laptop if it's already charged. -
Yes, it is possible to compress sf2 loseless and up to 40% ... for free. Compatible with windows, linux & mac. Detail inside, read carefully. Hope this helps... but do yourself a favor and upgrade your ram too!

OCR00745 - ActRaiser "Thy Followers"
Dj Mokram replied to orkybash's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This one brings back fond memories... I love the progression, and the transition between the differents parts of the song. The swells are quite good, and even though it doesn't sound as good as the symphonic suite (we're talking Yuzo Koshiro & Kaoru Wada, have mercy!), this is a wonderful hommage to the original. -
Ah ah. That site is pretty funny, thanks for sharing. And those zebra definitely don't need some more colors.

Hi, What would help could be some specs about your config. Cause I suspect: 1- maybe your memory's lacking 2- maybe you've deactivated the file caching 3- maybe you deactivated the pagefile 4- maybe you've got 12 programs and 35 instance of your web browser opened 5- or maybe because you just have 5742 images to preview... Please be more specific.

Yup. If all goes well, you should be receiving my WIP shortly.

Nepotism of the Godhead - Music for a video game.
Dj Mokram replied to Meteo Xavier's topic in Post Your Original Music!
Are you refering to this? Anyway about your doubts, well i'm obviously far from your level, so I can't criticize the composition or quality at all. But allow me this one complain, as a VGM fan, or simply as a listener: it sounds a bit generic. It doesn't sucks (rest assured that your talent remains intact), but it doesn't stands out either. It sounds like it was composed to do the job, without taking too much risks. Certainly that bothers me, in the sense that you most certainly have the potential to do far better. -
OCR01471 - Chrono Trigger "Chronodyne Marine"
Dj Mokram replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Synthetic instruments, but great handling of them. I assume the mix wasn't that simple to proceed, with all the fuzz & distortion. It really exlhales the feeling of something powerful, and stay balanced till the end. Overall it holds itself pretty well, even almost 3 years after being submitted. Great remix. -
What are you listening to?
Dj Mokram replied to PassivePretentiousness's topic in General Discussion
Agree. I'm digging this one, Kaoru Wada at his best. Right know: (from Biohazard 5 soundtrack)That track is wicked! -
How was the digging? I got one WIP ready to go if you're still interested. Should I wait until you recover the data for the FTP?
-
Glad you liked it. Hopefully yes, more will be coming. And I hope some other remixers will join and give Dynamite Headdy some of the love that it deserves. That and... I actually have the feeling that this is going to backfires at me.

Possible OCR soundtrack project for a game I'm working on

Now I'll know what to do if I suddenly wake up in the middle of the night after a bad dream. Will be sending some WIP your way soon. -
OCR00388 - Chrono Trigger "Time Circuits High Voltage"
Dj Mokram replied to Saunders's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Time Circuits is definitely a favorite when it come to CT music. When the song started, I didn't knew where it was going to lead me, but I soon found out. As the ambiance slowly developps, you get the feeling of being transported. The voices start, then the rythmic pattern & melody come and take you for a ride through time. As many stated, this is a dreamy atmosphere. I didn't feel the high-voltage, but this one sure was flying high. I don't use synthetizer much. But if I did, this is how I would like them to sound. A very solid, polished and thought out remix... but why is it so short? Guess I'll have to press the loop button and listen to it once more. -

Dj Mokram replied to FireSlash's topic in Recruit & Collaborate!
Well, you may actually end up with more music than stages to fit in! Which is a good thing, to be able to choose from many, rather than having to use the same theme all the time. That put aside, concerning the themes requested earlier: You'll most probably need a stage clear short song, but are you really gonna need a training stage song? Cause I'm guessing your game will be as user friendly as possible, and allow for immediate fun, i.e. no need to learn how to play? -

Ahh the ransom of success I guess... w-wait, already? Would you mind if I took an option on the two tracks in question? -
Last thing I remember, I was watching that PRC commercial... Then I woke up the next morning, and found out I had already signed up for this! I don't know why, but I remember hammtaro saying something about me not knowing him like that... Crazy stuff I tell ya!

Here's a remix of the song Night of Dial Q2, from Dynamite Headdy. The original was pretty short, so I took some liberty with it. Hope you'll enjoy it! EDIT: song's time is up at host. But it will be included in the album!

So this is where the horror part of the franchise has been going: in saving some other character's worthless butt and making up for it's mistakes. ...that, and the rusty controls from the past century.

Of course, I can understand that you're putting a lot of passion and time in this project already. By the way, are the training & level clear songs still available / wanted?
