  1. Hm, I'm getting a "permission denied" for both links! Try a different host, maybe?
  2. Please note that this is still very early! I just started it today, and I've only spent about a couple hours on it. Anyways, here's what I have so far, just an introduction: http://www.mattinc.net/StarFoxRemix1.mp3 I still have yet to QC it, so it doesn't sound very polished right now. Also, you may need to turn up your volume. I'm still trying to think of how to continue it. Enjoy! And please let me know what you think!
  3. I'm SO getting this. FFIV is my favorite Final Fantasy(game and music-wise). I'll definitely be sure to spread the word on this as much as I can, too!
  4. Thirded! It's my favorite song in my favorite Zelda game. If no one else is up to it, I may give remixing this one a go sometime, but right now I can't come up with any creative ideas for it. Experimentation!
  5. I'm currently downloading the GB Tape Kit Mini, and if I like what I hear, I think I'll go ahead and purchase the real deal! I can't wait to try this out.
  6. Wow, awesome job you guys! Normally I'm against chiptune/lo-fi remixes, but this is definitely an exception! This is how it SHOULD be done, not overly simple! The arrangement is absolutely creative. It feels very retro, but yet it has a big modern pop influence on it. It works very well! I absolutely love the new bass lines you've added in and how they lend well to the source's melody. The tempo changes at about 2/3 in were a nice touch and very well-timed. And the huge combination of different beeps and bloops was just as refreshing as listening to a full orchestra of instruments. In a way, it reminds me of many Katamari Damacy songs. Overall, no complaints from me. You guys have done an excellent job rearranging one of my favorite childhood themes! I can't wait to hear more!
  7. Holy bananas. Simply, wow. When I read that this mixed "Behave Irrationally"(without reading the description), I expected a very calm and soothing piece. Boy, was I in for a surprise! Overall, this is one of the more original mixes I've heard in a while for a video game. It's very... out there. But at the same time, it fits perfectly with the Valkyrie Profile universe(or any other game that has Motoi Sakuraba's name on it). The arrangement is absolutely solid. I really didn't expect hearing those two pieces in a heavy and intense metal rock song. My only gripe (and I'm sure I speak for others as well) is the mixing. Sometimes, it sounds too "muddy", the bass is way overpowering, or it just doesn't sound clear enough. However, I believe the idea and the execution of this mix more than make up for that small little annoyance. Sure, it's definitely not a relaxing piece, but it really powers you up! I feel like taking on the gods themselves upon listening to this! Bravo!
  8. Very beautiful piano arrangement! Once it dove into a new path, I was in awe. I wasn't expecting it to be so uplifting! Very nice! Only gripe I have is the recording quality, but the arranging makes up for it!
  9. Even though I'm repeating what everyone has said so far, here are my recommendations(in no real order)!: - Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 (Probably the prime of the 3D games, in my opinion!) - Ikaruga (Very intense and addictive shoot-em-up! One of my favorites by Treasure.) - Maken X (a neat FPS with some very innovative ideas, awesome art and awesome music. There are some really annoying control and design flaws, though. - Shenmue 2 (A truly fantastic blend of genres. It may have its flaws, but it's well worth it for the experience! Too bad there's no Shenmue 3 yet. Haven't played the first one, so I can't comment on that.) - Jet Grind Radio (or Jet Set Radio outside of the U.S. Highly recommended!) - Dead or Alive 2 - Skies of Arcadia (A fun RPG, if you're into those!) - PowerStone 1 & 2 (Highly addictive 3D fighting games that are very easy to pick up!) That's all I can think of for now! There's definitely more, though.
  10. Because I'm out of town and away from my mega PC until Tuesday, I subbed my two entries on the 5th. Grr... you guys got all that extra time to work on it. I can't wait to hear everyone's entries! When are you guys posting results?
  11. Oh man, I LOVE the analog instrumentation here! Great overall sound. I can't wait to hear more! I can't think of any problems so far! A wishful/selfish suggestion from me: a lead guitar segment after the point this one ends? Keep it up!
  12. Grrr... if I wasn't busy the next couple of weeks, I would DEFINITELY participate in this! I hope these competitions happen often! I am willing and able to participate in the next one!
  13. Wow! Very neat interpretation. I love the samba influence. It works very well for this piece! Can't wait to hear your later revisions. A comment on the vocals though. You definitely have the right idea in using the vocals, but I think you should go for a more breathy sound with them. Something along these lines: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJlNQojJ0eQ But that's just my opinion! And of course, the arrangement is far too spot-on with the original. But I'm sure you know that and are in the process of rearranging it right now! Keep it up! I can't wait to hear more!
  14. I'm definitely liking this so far! The synths you used are nice and lend very well to each other. The little effects you used here and there were really nice as well. My favorite section overall was from 1:39 all the way to the end, mainly because it reminds me of Mark Mothersbaugh, and it was a nice break from the electronica stuff going on before. It's got a nice funky sound to it during that moment, and I think you should experiment a lot more with it in later versions! Keep it up!
  15. Interesting! The instrumentation is very neat. Good choice of synths. The problem I see with this is that the arrangement stays a bit too close to the original. I couldn't spot any major variations from the original piece, aside from the drums, a few added choir pads, etc. I understand this in early stages, but in later revisions, try to add a lot more variation. Overall, I say you should stick with the instrumentation you have going now, but experiment a bit more with it. And of course, the arrangement needs a lot of work. Keep us posted!
  16. Very beautiful rendition of "Joshua", one of my favorites from the Vagrant Story OST. I love that you chose piano! It's a perfect fit for this piece. Keep it up! And I can't wait to hear more beautiful piano renditions from you.
  17. Hey all! I have been writing music for many years, and suddenly the idea hit me of using the web space I have to start a royalty-free music business for ad spots, film productions, commercial work, and so on. If any of you out there have any experience in this field, are there any tips you can give? Also, are there any business licenses I have to purchase and whatnot? Any links would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
  18. For a start, it's not bad! As suggested before, it needs to change direction about halfway through. I'd throw in a surprise around 1:10 by introducing some drums and adding in a new melody. The time leading up to that makes a GREAT intro. Pretty much, the only major problem with it so far is that it lacks direction, but that can be easily fixed! So spend some more time with it. Keep us posted!
  19. Hey all! I posted a new update in the first post(version 2)! Let me know what you think!
  20. Hey guys, I just updated the piece! There aren't a whole lot of changes(thanks to work), but please do tell me what you think! You'll find it in the first post(version 2). Things to consider: * The production quality * The synth lead as opposed to the violin * The arrangement itself. * Etc., etc. Thanks in advance!
  21. I'm working on my 64 Rocker/Anthem mix, and I just want a view on this. Is it alright to have a melody section that is very different from the source? For example, in the mix, it first plays an arrangement of the source, then goes into a new melody, then back into the source. I wanted that extra section in there to give it that mood I want, but I was just wondering if it'll be okay? Thanks!
  22. Hey, thanks a lot for the comment! Thanks for pointing that out, too. I plan on really adding a lot more elements into this later on. Haha, very true. I'm sure I'll still get some real feedback, though. I'll be on the lookout for fakers, though! In any case, I look forward to hearing your mix!
  23. Hey all! Here's what I have of my second entry for the Reset Generation contest! As usual, you can find more info(and the source) here: http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?p=557753#557753 Here's what I have so far: Version 1: http://www.mattinc.net/ResetGen-CommodoreBase-Remix.mp3 Version 2: http://www.mattinc.net/ResetGen-CommodoreBase-Remix-2.mp3 (6/19/09) I know I still have a lot of work to do here, and the instrument samples aren't the greatest yet, but please tell me what you think! As for the name... I'll come up with one when I submit it! Enjoy!
  24. Whoops, haha, guessed I missed that bit! Sweet, can't wait to hear it!
