  1. WOW. This is everything I would want it to be. Jillian really stretched her range on the vocals, and the result is lovely. And of course the live orchestra just takes everything to the next level. Kindred by Jillian and zircon was the first vocal mix I downloaded from this site, and it seems they've only gotten better with time.
  2. Halc has some great remixes, but I think he really shines when he's collaborating. He manages to seamlessly blend in his style while also bringing out the best in the other mixer/composer. That's exactly what happened here, and the result is simply fantastic.
  3. This may be repetitive, but it's still a very enjoyable 6 minutes of music. I could easily put this on repeat while I'm writing.
  4. I can really hear the Vince Guaraldi inspiration, and I love it. I liked this well enough the first time I listened to it, but it's growing on me the more I listen. Great job!
  5. I love everything about this. It maintains the haunting feel of both the original track and the first mix, but this version really has a personality of its own. I keep loving Jillian's style more and more. Those background vocals will be stuck in my head for the rest of the day.
  6. Of all the movie soundtrack-inspired mixes on this site, this may be the most polished and fully realized. And I say that with great love and respect for some of my other favorites. I get excited every time this comes up in my playlist.
  7. I love how djpretzel only needed four words to give a completely accurate description. This is one more halc mix that I will be listening to over and over.
  8. I absolutely love this mix, especially the middle section. The major key is something I haven't heard anyone else try, and you pulled it off really well. I also love that that section has a bit of a ragtime vibe.
  9. I remember stumbling upon Justin's first mix in 2010. It intrigued me, but it didn't feel like much more than background music. This is the same great style from that mix but stepped up a notch. I'm going to be listening to this a lot in the next few weeks.
  10. When I saw "electric sheep orchestra" in the title, I just had to check this out. And I'm glad I did. It's not really my style, so I probably won't be putting it on my playlist, but it was perfect to listen to on my break at work on a boring Saturday. I enjoyed the mellowness, and I loved the excecution.
  11. Whoa. Very impressive. You certainly created a Hollywood soundtrack atmosphere in this arrangement. It's intense and exciting without being too over the top. The choir really adds something special to it instead of feeling forced. I have to agree with C7 here. It's the one negative thing I can say. Otherwise, this is one fantastic orchestration.
  12. Wow. I love when I find myself enjoying a song in a genre I generally dislike. And boy am I enjoying this. It's really addictive. Great job!
  13. This is one of my favorites from the album. Very nice as usual. And I love the quick homage to the Pokemon Center.
  14. Ooh, it's exciting to see you branch out. I can definitely hear some Darkesword influences here. I'm in the anti-clap track camp, but I still enjoy the overall feel of this. Just don't forget your roots. I still love to listen to Sound of the Dogfish.
  15. I like this better knowing that it's the closing track of the album. It's almost more of a reprise to Morning, Thinker than a stand-alone song, but I don't think that's a bad thing. I really love this, and I'm excited to check the whole album out.
  16. I'm going to agree with everyone else and say this is an amazing mix. Even without added sound effects, this sounds already polished enough to submit for review. I'm not always a fan of piano solos, but this one is truly done beautifully, and I kind of feel like you should keep it as purely a piano solo.
  17. This isn't really my style, but I don't think it's too liberal. It actually did produce knee-jerk source recognition for me. My only main gripe is that the main melody only had one iteration. As far as the liberal interpretation, I surprisingly didn't mind. Nice mix.
  18. I didn't hear the first version you had up, but I really like the version you have up now. You definitely succeeded in giving life into a very short, simple theme. I like what you've done with Dire Dire Docks at the end, too. My main issue is with the ending. Somehow it isn't satisfying for me. My preference would probably be to return to the simple guitar with just File Select, but I think there are a lot of things you could do. Even though it's fairly short, it doesn't really feel too short for me except for wishing there was more to the ending.
  19. I really like the understated intensity of this, but I do wish you had done a little more with the melody. I think my issue with it is that the flowing psychedelic part took up more than half the song. I would have preferred to see you sink your teeth into the melody a bit more and then spend as much time as you want with the awesome ambiance. Overall, I do love the mood you created.
  20. As far as production quality, DarkSim is right. The sound you get from these instruments just isn't good quality. As far as your arrangement, I like it a lot. I have one major issue, though, and that is your use of Stickerbush Symphony. I know it's one of the best songs in the game and everyone loves it, but to me, it felt like the mood of the song changed entirely when you got to that part. Also, after the welcomed lull of Forest Interlude, I kind of hoped you would return to Title Screen for an epic grand finale. But that's just me. Overall, this is a good arrangement that desperately needs a boost in production quality.
  21. I'm not a fan of this style, but I am still very impressed by how well you pulled it off. I love it when an artist can make me appreciate a style that's not my usual cup of tea.
  22. The intro is very good. My biggest problem is when you actually bring in the main melody. The melody isn't very complex, and so far, you haven't done anything with it. If you continue along those same lines, the mix could get very boring very fast. I think part of the problem is that once the melody gets into full swing the lead synth has no variation. I won't comment further on that because I don't know much about production and soundfonts and whatnot. Overall, I really like the build of the intro, and I hope you are able to make the rest of the to it. I'm looking forward to hearing more.
  23. I'm not quite a lyrics hater, but I'm definitely a lot pickier about vocal mixes. That said, I love this mix. I love the way the atmosphere from the source was taken and amplified, and I love how the lyrics and vocals fit perfectly with the musical mood of the song. I definitely hear the "call of the deep" when I listen to this.
  24. I love the awkward little sound at the end of every other measure. The first time I heard it I actually laughed out loud. You make awkward and goofy work in an awesome way.
