  1. I wasn't 100% happy with 2011 at all. I think I could have reserved more space for me and my friends, my college studies, family, OCR and so on. I did learn a lot from what I went through, but still, on december the 31st I was in a really bad mood. But I'm very much giving my expectations for 2012 to be one of the best years in my life \o/! Again, like past year. Yeah, oddly I tend to be too optimistic about the future, but I don't think that's a bad thing. I mean, I don't feel that way, and never felt (as far as I remember). and I can't wait for those 3 "to be posted" mixes of mine to finally get the frontpage XD
  2. Wow. Yes. Sure. Thanks But there's something that got me confused: why wouldn't the idea of a small intro with an almost direct cover of the source be okay in a mix, as long as the overall material's substiantially inventive enough (I understand that my take on the whole thing's quite conservative, tho, but is it really THAT conservative)? Also, is it always a problem to have generic samples in a mix? I did want to make things very simple/Mario-ish, but I'm definitely looking forward to improve this with enough advice that clarifies OCR's limitations on that.
  3. Heh, I get what you mean about the Game Over song. I suppose it went up awkward, yea. So if it's alright to already have the mods have my question on timbale usage cleared up and give any more additional tips, time to MoD rEvIeW!
  4. Update: http://soundcloud.com/guifrog/super-mario-nightclub-v-2/s-Qf0nu Fixed the bass low-end etc, but there's something else I'd like you to evaluate - I'm torn between the timbales used on the 1st version and the updated 2nd one. I mean, even if the 2nd one sounds more realistic, I think the 1st seems to keep a clean overall environment to my mix. What do you think? ._.
  5. Nah, not nightclub mix. My view of a nightclub in Mario's world, rather XD Glad you like btw, thanks ^^
  6. http://soundcloud.com/guifrog/super-mario-nightclub/s-4MLtM Latin house anyone? Mario wants some comments/complaints too and can't wait to dance with his princess. Edit: Source -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiAxiGZKpGQ
  7. Thought I'd throw some coins! *bling* It's not the first time I hear direction issues on one of your mixes. This one starts with an eerie, mysterious mood, then it suddenly changes to a verrrrry different, upbeat tune, and then it goes to an epic orchestral 'til the end. I understand that you could probably have set a style to work with, but still, the way things are done here makes it all pretty distracting, as if there's various songs glued together. It's important to change textures in a single track (with smooth enough transitions), but it's also interesting to set a solid line to follow. My suggestions for this are either remove the upbeat part or develop it somehow. For example, I could try to keep the haunting tune from the first section in it, maybe with the same deep pads (except that they could glitch). I agree with DarkSim on the upbeat part stuff too, and that drum sequencing definitely needs some more love. Also... Sounds like a hard source to work with o.O
  8. Lies. In fact, I enjoyed my 22nd.

  9. Thank you, le dawg! And yeah, today was actually quite a mellow, fine day to enjoy mah 22th ^^

  10. Thanks, dude! Guess what, a random guy on the street told me I was gonna reach the 110th :P

  11. Sounds so much like Irish folk or something, which means I love it *-* I think not much might be needed to fix the violin (and accordion) realism issues, but a live player would surely do good
  12. HEYO DAWG WAZZUP WANT SOME PIZZA?!1! I really like this dance-rock trend you're going for, mr puppy! Funny thing is, there's times when I feel some exotic/eastern influences not only in this, but in most of your arrangements. As you may know, I love that feeling I hear some clipping throughout, most noticeable at 1:12 for me, when the lead guitar seems to go backwards a bit. Then, at 1:52, it takes quite some space from the soundscape. There's lots of 'air' coming to my headphones from the reverb of some instruments, such as kick and snare, so I think reducing it a bit might help. That synth from 1:11 to 1:31 seems to play randomly instead of acting as countermelody, it's kinda lost on that section; possible to try something else that better harmonizes with the guitar and adds some dynamics to the chorus at the same time? K33P 4T 1T
  13. Well, I wish some baboons could bite me, coz I can't stop dancing Just one thing: pads. Overall, I think it's the only thing I'd suggest, just so the soundscape doesn't feel empty at times. But this is a shiny, brilliant job, dude! Diggin' it also, love your avatar 8D
  14. Catchy, yeah! I've always been a fan of innovations, and this one has a fantastic attention to detail among its colors, so I can breathe happiness in its greatest depths. I love it!
  15. Delightful! I didn't like the radio voice stuff either, but emotionally, this song touches me good. Blue sky and green grass. *yawns* Nice one L99, and double congrats Emu!
  16. I knew this would be epic because of your epic Roller Disco track! I see there's plenty of varied segments in this, and I seriously LOVE the ethnic break one from 1:41-1:52. Nice drum work, SICK guitar playing, nice production overall ^^ My problem with it is that those segments seem to be too separated from each other, as if they were different songs glued together. Transitions could be worked better, and there's also some trouble sticking to a style, which is somewhat distracting. There's mostly orchestral stuff going until 1:40, when the ethnic break comes and goes to a drum n' bass pattern at 1:53, so it explodes into hard rock at 2:28, transitioning to a lighter style at 3:09, going orchestral again at 3:38! Then it goes mellow again until the end. I actually think it's okay to have different styles working together in a song, as long as it doesn't feel too disjointed. So yeah, transitions are mostly my concerns, but still I love the sound of this. If you could find a way to avoid how some instruments play too little in it (that's maybe due to the high amount of 'em), that'd be even cooler
  17. Oh. Gawd. No. I am now dead x_x j/k! Congrats and happy NOing ^^
  18. Yeah, this thing's definitely... Different. As if all 'sounds' of space captured by the Voyager were dancing. Y'know, I am quite unfamiliar with the genre, but it all feels so solid, fluid, well-placed! Dayumn... Infected Mushroom's songs are very disturbing O_o, but in a good way.
  19. Ow, man. No hopes on project recovery then? Coz you know, I really like this thing. With a less exposed brass (alongside more ressonance) and more source to give some sections a less sparse character, dayumn, I guess this would turn out w0w0rz. There's a nice suspense vibe attached to the great drum work going on
  20. DirRrRrRrRrty! Detected a few timing issues from 0:48 to 0:55 and 1:29-1:35 btw. Still not too fond of the ending. But I dig it overall If you make your name onto the frontpage with this, I'm SO going to throw the biggest party.
