Mega Man: The Grand Robot Master Remix Battle 2018
Mak Eightman replied to DarkeSword's topic in Competitions
Well, I'm leaving this battle with honor. I've lost to one of the greatest piano performance, i've heard in awhile. Thank you @Arceace! Actually I didn't expect I get so far. Still, mostly because of self dropped competitors. Too bad. Thank you everybody for your music and effort! You all are great! Surprise!! P.S. MM Competition curse still works on me. I have a new job. And it look like I'll be vanished for another 3-5 years.. Nice P.P.S. Next time @Garpocalypse, another 3 years later I guess. -

Mega Man: The Grand Robot Master Remix Battle 2018

Submitted. I had no time for synths and mixing, so it's good that @Arceace didn't quit. Otherwise we had nobody from Mega Man bracket in final. -

Not fair. "Drunk Man" was made in one day and I wasn't much sober. So find 1-2 hours to make something please. -
Do You Still ReMix — Why Or Why Not?
Mak Eightman replied to AngelCityOutlaw's topic in General Discussion
I think it's time to change the name of this thread. It was "why you still do or not", but now "what for or who/how get success". Overall, I didn't get the subject of the first post/thread. Was it just a question or simple "disscussion for disscussion" to provide some movement. -
[GRMRB] [2018] Round 3 - Mega Man Bracket
Mak Eightman replied to DarkeSword's topic in Public Voting
SEGA MAN: Cool stuff. Sources heard well. Clean production. Very enjoyble track, but not my playlist. Tastes.. Drunk Man: Nice soundscape and overall wibe. Some timing issues. Sources used kinda wierd. Can't recogniaze em if i'm not trying. At the end everything sounds kinda unfinished. I have a feeling that frazes are cut somehow. Cool track, but sources not used well. Crashed a House Party on Fire: Very intersting ideas here and there, sources recognisible at the first listen, which is good. Production is off. Too thin and empty. I want to hear some more instruments fore some reasone. Can't say I enjoyed your track. Kinda abrupt or something. Anyway, comparing to your opponent(me) your track fits the competition rules better, so technicaly you win. Take my vote! -
Do You Still ReMix — Why Or Why Not?
Mak Eightman replied to AngelCityOutlaw's topic in General Discussion
What's the difference? You made it. Or you think that all your original music wasn't inspired by something/someone/anything, like.. weather for example? Nice. Therion, Hypocrisy/PAIN and nomber of other great musicians started as a coverbands. So at the end I say "Yes" to ReMixing. These days I can't find anything what I like in music scene. So many musicians! But no music. I make music for my self. ReMix, original or simply cover just for having music to listen, to feel, to enjoy. Modern stuff sounds technicaly awesome, but mostly "soulless" in my taste. Life is tough, so I don't have much time to make billions of tracks. I have 8 remixes here at OCR and somewhere around 30 at my HDD, plus 75-80 original tracks. And that's not enough. I want more. I need more. -

[GRMRB] [2018] Round 1 - Mega Man Bracket
Mak Eightman replied to DarkeSword's topic in Public Voting
I suggest move this conversation to another place. As for the subject, I agree. Bass line is out. Take I close look at 200-800 Hz diapposone. Bass lift at thisese freqs or adding some new instrument for that space may change overall soundscape. -

[GRMRB] [2018] Round 1 - Mega Man Bracket
Mak Eightman replied to DarkeSword's topic in Public Voting
Well, I'll try to say at least something. Please don't take my words as a rant/taunt or whatever bad. I'm bad in finding proper words, due to my bad english. So I just say what i feel. And, yes. I had no time to learn language. Sorry. Razor wind. Cool sounding. Catching flow and clear understanding of happening. Glitchy stuff sound right in place. Can't say something useful from production side. Nothing bother me while listening. I'm OK with last pitched hit, cause i like it. Brings some natural ending to unnatural sound, from philosophycal side. Digital redemtion. I do not have any enthusiasm or interest, as expressed above. Sorry. Sounds like actual chiptune. And that's not good. Overall composition kinda senseless. It just moves to the end and nothing happening. I can't even take it as an ambient for my sound perception. Sources just mixed. I can't catch anything familiar, except some notes. I mean, I can hear something form both sources, but just because I'm trying to hear em. I checked your original stuff and I wonder why you made something like this. Cause your own music is interesting. Dopamine. Oh, wait. That's mine. It rocks! in beginning, but then it just suck. Fire truck. I can't call it a ReMix actually. I can hear both sources at the same time and not sure you've changed anything. Soundscape is empty and.. You know, I have a feeling, you just was too lazy to make something. Sorry if I'm wrong, but if im right you need to reconsider your attitude to similar competitions. You have my vote, just because voting for myself is bad. Sorry. Thunder-crash tornado fusion. Ah.. Fusy-jazy track! Tough to vote. Sources are there, production is natural(some freq cleaning needed). So in this matchup you've lost my vote due to lack of enjoyability. That dissonant piano is very cool, but it's more like "see me playing and get out of here". Crash of the tornado. Well, as I said. Very cool stuff! Great percussion, amazing bass, piano, strings and organ is the cherry on da cake. And sources well introduced. Best track in this round for me. Empty desires. Promising introduction. I'm sorry that you did not finish it. The only complain I had is the lead. I just don't like it sounds. Personal taste i guess. Drill bits Same boat as a first track. The only thing I'd suggest is to make bass notes a bit shorter when they in a pair. Ahhh. I hope you understand. Nice one! -
How Significant Is Forum Feedback In Improvement?
Mak Eightman replied to AngelCityOutlaw's topic in General Discussion
At the starting poin, work shop was a great place for me. Cause that was the only place I had feedback. Can't say it was "very" usefull, still it gave some stimul to continiue. Real boost was a OC projects with deadlines and dirrectors. These guys just giving you an advice and dirrection to follow. Do that or get out. And thanks to community I know some vsts. Overall my opinion about the subject: depends of surcumstance. If I will be a supa star someday, I'll by thankfull to this community. Still, I'm not posting my wips and I don't submit my tracks to judges for a vary long time. One day I've realised that I'm out of place or time here. Don't know) -
Yea-yea. Same old "music production theory". I know that. But that thing apeals to a full orchestra. Of cource in fulllength consert some instruments has some "pauses". Still when there is no consert or/and no full orchestra(just some instruments), disposition should change. All i'm saying, if you have a finished piece with selected instruments, it should sound as there is no other orchestra. What is actually obviousley. Or I'm just think the wrong way. Nevermind. I'm a trumpettist in my past. Thats why I've heard "other" stereo field and natural orchestral sound from inside and outside. It's just my complain about all those panned samples in almost every music track. And vst. So take it as offtopic pls. Ha-ha. I need to sell my house to buy all this stuff. My edirol 2004 sounds just amazing
-
Ok. I like the strings and percussion(not much). I don't like the brasses(sounds kinda unreal). Pretty interesting choir. Overall cool stuf, but what's wrong with panning? Why any orchestral stuff has no middle? Thats my main complain about percussion. Composition is very nice, but panoramma isn't well in my taste. What was the vst's? Or vst.. I think it's all from one thing, for some reasone. And also.. That was a great times Chris, the best times! I remember, I tried to convince Gar(pocalypse) to USE HIS INSTRUMENT(bass gtr) to make music. Useless

Long time.. i remember you as a guitar man. Sounds nice on my fone. I'll take a normal listen later and probably will ask you some questions about your vst

What is the ideal length of a musical album to you?
Mak Eightman replied to JohnStacy's topic in General Discussion
8-15 songs. No time length priority. The only important thing for album is to be "album". Main idea or theme through all the tracks and overall sounding should stay in one mood. Hope someone can understand, what I'm trying to say with my english.
