For a moment I thought you were saying that Mario was French and I was about to have a moment. We're good. Happy birthday to both of you. -

Happy father's day to me for future reference in like 10 years

Honestly, though. That game only needed the DS game and the Wii game. Most people I know including myself are just bored with it. Honestly I don't even see how you make a sequel to it. It was what it was. NSMB and NSMB Wii were both really great games. That's all that was needed. That concept is an easy one to "drive into the ground"

NES had Super Mario Bros. SNES had Super Mario World. N64 had Super Mario 64. GameCube had Melee. Wii had stuff like Twilight Princess. This generation had New Super Mario Bros. U. I don't care how fun that game may be, nobody gives a foop about New Super Mario Bros. anymore. They drove that concept into the ground. See, the problem is that they've basically caught up. There isn't currently much more to add to a console other than larger graphical capabilities. Music is now really high quality and so is everything else. All they can do is just make things only even better quality in that regard. So really it entirely depends on good games by this point.

True, but I think more people jumped right on it to get those consoles. This generation has started off quite a bit slower. Nevertheless, combining all three console's sales, you have somewhere around 18 million sales. And I just looked and as of April, Wii U has sold over 6 million, PS4 has sold 7 million, and Xbone 5 million. However, it says Xbone has actually *shipped* 5 million, but 3 million have been sold. So not sure. I'm interested to see what the sales of the Wii U will be since the release of Mario Kart 8. All the great games are coming to the console finally and I think it may pick up some speed, even if it doesn't ultimately win this war. Honestly, Nintendo's fine. The Wii U is not bombing and they made a crapload of money from the Wii and are still doing really well with the 3DS (the 3DS lineup has shipped over 43 million), so honestly I have no worries about them. They're doing just fine. I don't get all this hate and bashing around Nintendo when they're honestly doing fairly well right now. Definitely not the best, but they aren't sucking. So far 2014 is going way better for them than 2013, obviously.

According to an interview with Reggie, the sales of the Wii U are not nearly as bad as everyone thought. Apparently Wii U is still ahead of the Xbone and just behind PS4. Granted, PS4 and Xbone are both like a whole year younger than the Wii U but I was expecting the Wii U to be far behind by this point. Apparently not. In fact, I don't personally know anyone with a PS4 or Xbone, but I know at least three other people with a Wii U, if not more. Three off the top of my head.

Inside drifting was actually really great in Mario Kart Wii and really hard to control in this one. My vehicle in Mario Kart Wii is the Mach Bike and it controls wonderfully with drift. It's much harder to do that stuff in this game.

Yeah while the Wii U is most certainly behind in hardware abilities compared to PS4 and Xbone, it's still a really powerful console. And here's the thing which is why I believe that the Zelda will look extremely close to what they showed us: It's not just that they said that that was in-engine. It's also the fact that we all know that of all the franchises that release on Nintendo consoles, very few do what Zelda does. Zelda pushes the hardware to its limits. The developers for Zelda try their hardest basically every time to take advantage of the technology they've got and push it as far as they can go until the hardware can't take it anymore, and then they work around it. It's truly amazing how a Zelda game honestly makes the console look like it can do more than it generally can for most other games. This is part of what makes these franchises so special. Mario Kart 8 is another really great example. Let's all be honest, Mario Kart 8 is probably one of the prettiest games that's released for the Wii U. It's absolutely gorgeous. And I've seen in reviews people saying (not just graphically, but just the way it plays) that Mario Kart 8 makes the Wii U look better than it technically is. And that's how a great game is made. And that's how Zelda has always been. It's always taken advantage of the hardware and pushed it as far as it can go and still function extremely well and play wonderfully. So I honestly have no doubts that what we saw is going to be extremely close to what we get. I mean, back with the console wars of the 90s, someone challenged a guy from SEGA that the SNES had thousands of colors while the Genesis only had a few hundred. The guy from SEGA brought the person over to a place with numerous games playing, some Genesis, some SNES. He asked which looked better. And seeing them, even I can say the Genesis games looked better. Why? The guy from SEGA said it's not how much of something you have, but what you do with it. Just cuz you have the graphical capabilities doesn't mean you're gonna have a pretty game. Nintendo has had some gorgeous games in the past as well as SEGA and it's not because they had the most powerful hardware in the system; it's because the developers knew how to get around it and take advantage of it and create something that was really quite a amazing. And considering how Zelda is, the more powerful Nintendo's technology gets, probably the faster, prettier, and larger the Zelda world will get. That's what I love about Zelda.

I can see where it may seem weird for others to hear the groove like that. It's kinda an RnB thing to intentionally be "out of the pocket," where the drums are oddly off, but it can sound cool. I think it was a little weird and sloppy in this song but I see the attempt and honestly I kinda like what's goin' here.

Oh that was clearly a staged act. That wasn't played by anyone at all. I think what he was referring to is the fact that's how the gameplay will generally be and that's how the game is gonna look. Heck, it could end up being even better. Compare the original footage of Hyrule Warriors to now. Graphically it was improved a TON. Apparently Eiji took notes from how the audience was reacting and what they were saying, which is pretty much always a good thing, though the Nintendo fan base can be pretty retarded sometimes. From everything I've heard and seen so far though, my hopes are high and I'm still waiting for a Zelda game to beat Twilight Princess for me and maybe this will be the one. Who knows. Even the worst Zelda game is really great (but CD-i didn't exist so don't worry about that). EDIT: So there was a mistranslation. That is still what the game will look like and that's how it's rendered in the Wii U, but the English translation of Eiji's posted was mistranslated because it stated that what was seen was literally gameplay. I obviously already said that that's clearly not literal gameplay, that was totally staged and created before-hand; that wasn't played. But apparently people still took it literally and thought that was legit gameplay. Maybe that's what it will somewhat look like, but that's not legitimate gameplay.

Honestly this game may be one of the hardest Mario Kart's I've played. Not necessarily a bad thing, but kinda, hahahaha. It took me a while to realize what was making it hard, but I've figured most of it out. For one, the handling in this game is much trickier. Not necessarily hard, but I've basically had to relearn how to drift in this game compared to other games. Granted, each and every single Mario Kart game kinda has a different drift mechanic and so I've had to learn how to do it in every single one. Double Dash remains my favorite with all the mechanics. For two, as if it was hard enough to get back up to speed in Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 7, it's only harder in this game. It's kinda a pain. I don't really like it. Again, getting back up to speed in Double Dash was my favorite because getting hit would definitely affect you, but you could easily get back up to speed so it wasn't frustrating as crap. And for three, the red shells in this game are way faster than previous Mario Kart games. I think that goes for the green shells as well, because the mechanics for the shells cause green shells to be way more bound to hit someone in this game. I honestly get freaked out now when someone throws a green shell and it passes by me. Green shells are far more deadly in this game, which is funny to say. With red shells, I mean, just watch them. They go really freaking fast. So that basically is a really bad situation for an opponent that's right in front of another opponent holding a red shell. There's basically no way to defend that. The opponent ahead has no time to react and defend himself with an item or anything. So then it comes so suddenly and the player doesn't even realize what just--literally--hit him. So that can get frustrating as well. My other issues with the game include the fact that they got rid of the map from the HUD on the screen and that honestly really frustrates me. I can get over it but they slowly but surely get rid of more and more stuff from the HUD every game. Again, this is where Double Dash nailed it. It had the top 4 places, your speed (which, let's be honest, was pointless, but I still loved it; but that was a reasonable thing to get rid of), the map, your place, and the time (speaking of time, they got rid of times in the results... I liked to see how far in the lead I was or how close the race was, so that disappointed me). It had all the details and it wasn't cluttered. Every game I assume they were just trying to make it more simple by keeping as little on the screen as possible, but in all honesty it's just annoying because that was all useful information. Now they've basically got the laps, your coins, and your place, and that's it. They fit the map and other information on the gamepad, but let's be honest, we all know they did that just to try and give the stupid gamepad some use. The gamepad actually can be used for good, but a game like Mario Kart basically has no use for the gamepad. I'm not gonna wanna constantly move my head up and down from the screen to the gamepad looking for the information I need. It's just dumb. The map is also extremely useful in battle and it wasn't there, which was a little annoying. And yeah, battle is kinda stupid. I got over it and I kinda like it now, but honestly it was an idea they had that didn't quite work. I kinda get what they were trying to do and it had potential I think, but it didn't go the way I think it should've gone. In fact it kinda felt like they had the idea but were on a major time crunch so they just put 8 maps from the race tracks and just stuck them in there and changed the rules to battle instead. If they had gone through and really worked on changing the stages to really work with battle, that would've been way cooler. But honestly, I can still enjoy battle in this game. And you can set to bob-ombs only so that's about the closest we're getting to Bob-omb Battle hahahaha Honestly though, while it totally sounds like I'm bashing the game and the game isn't all that great, it truly is a really really fantastic game. I have no regrets for buying the game, despite its flaws, some being major ones. The game is honestly really great. Definitely a must-buy for the Wii U. In some regards I think this game is far better than its home console predecessor, Mario Kart Wii, and in other ways, it's not. But above all, Double Dash reigns forever as king of Mario Kart. Ok, maybe you don't all have to agree with any of that but I think Double Dash is the greatest Mario Kart existing. I'm in hopes they'll eventually make one that I love more but I honestly really doubt it.

Whatevs. It is definitely a great game. Hahaha Also I think we're all aware that the shots shown definitely are not the angles we would be playing the game in. That would be absolutely retarded and it's only common sense. They're simply showing it with more cinematic angles for promotion. Then again you're probably joking and I probably look like the stupid one here.
-
Eiji said that was not only in-game but legitimate gameplay. They just changed the camera angles for the cinematic effect. Unless they make some major change, that's what the game's gonna look like when you play it. And yeah, definitely not a downgrade. Tech demos are not what the next game will look like you silly goose. Hahahahaha I feel like all you wanna do is just criticize anything related to the Wii U when there is no reason to do so. It seems kinda silly. Also, Eiji said when he said you could reach all the mountains in the background, he was not kidding. That just makes me really happy. I'm good. I don't care about anything else for E3. This is all I needed. Now I just need it out soon so I can buy it. Y u release it 2015 Nintendo. Also: http://youtu.be/O38eKgET5c0

Buddy, that was all in-game. That was the engine. You're looking at how the game will probably legitimately be.

guys. Zelda Wii U. I'm crying. I've fallen in love.

Well for a bit of time people were actually guessing Mario Kart U and that could've worked and I was hoping for that rather than Mario Kart 8 but by this point I've gotten used to it and it's a fantastic game so I don't care hahahaha Mario Kart 3DS wouldn't have been bad. Everyone was expecting it originally. Granted, it sounds a lot like Mario Kart DS so it may have gotten confusing.

Ok, Super Mario 64 is a fair argument, and so is Smash Bros. I guess it all matters on opinion. Mario Kart 64 is not my favorite Mario Kart, but it's certainly one of the best. But I absolutely love new Mario Karts and new Smash Bros. games. But Super Mario 64 is a fair argument since ya know, it's like my favorite game of all time.

Does anyone notice the naming pattern for the series? GBA and GCN had names that were completely unrelated to the console (Mario Kart: Super Circuit and Mario Kart: Double Dash!!). DS and Wii had names that were named after the console (Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart Wii). And then 3DS and Wii U had numbered titles (Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart 8 ). I honestly wonder if they'll change up the naming scheme again for the next generation. Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64 are the only times that the pattern doesn't seem to apply, but of course there were no handheld versions either (and also remember that Mario Kart 64 was originally going to be called Super Mario Kart R until Sonic R destroyed it).
