  1. I've always been really proud of my work, but I've become more and more happy with it over the years, obviously because I've improved dramatically. There are some aspects of my old work that I'm still really proud of but I easily notice how much I've improved since then. But if it's not something I want to hear, I don't release it anywhere. I finish and release what I think is better than what I'm hearing compared to it. Obviously I'm not going to compare myself to the absolute genius King of Pop Michael Jackson, but if there's something that's slightly bothering me about one of his songs that also plays a part in a track of mine (for instance, the kick or snare) or just something that I'm like "hmm, how can I make this better?" or "hmm, how would I specifically want to hear this to satisfy me?," that's the type of stuff that I work hard on. I try and pull off something that will satisfy me more and additionally make me want to constantly have my music on replay and still love it. That's when I know I've got something good. Speaking of Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson's motto was "study the greats and become greater" and that's basically become my biggest motto when working on music. Even if I were never to gain any huge success, I would much rather make music that I'll feel really great about. I'm honestly a really hard-to-please guy and I'm not easily impressed so I push my music as far as I can go with it until it's as perfect as I can possibly get it. I'm a huge quality over quantity guy. I won't release anything if I don't feel it's quality enough. Now, if I'm required to do some music for someone else and I've got a tight deadline and a serious time crunch, I try my absolute hardest to make it the best it can be but since I don't have all the time in the world, I have to just get it done by the deadline and make it as good as I can. I'll obviously request a few extra days if what I've got is not something I'm even relatively ok with, but if that can't happen, you do what you gotta do. Another pain is being the over-perfectionist I am. I'll think I've got it just right, release it to the world, and by the time it's too late to take it back, there's something I hear that I wanna fix. It's just how it goes. Hahahaha But yeah, without sounding as arrogant as possible, I feel really great towards my work. Sometimes I don't like what I have so then I'll try and see how I can really improve it or I'll just start over and try something completely different. But I never ever go full throttle with a song that I do not feel really confident about, unless it's something like the whole deadline situation.
  2. Yeah man that sucks. That happens sometimes. Ya just gotta get back up and try again. As for which project, I'd say BoF since you got on top of that one first. Unless this one is gaining more attention and you feel more towards working on this one instead.
  3. One of my least favorite things is when people give up that easily. The project is not dead. He's saying back burner because he's probably planning to get back to this, even if it's a while from now. If he wants to continue with this, he will. If he's got some dedication for it, he'll make it happen. But from experience, don't overdo yourself with projects. Ha. I'm still recovering from how much I've put on myself. Also, if you've finished a remix and then he says he can't continue with it, then just submit it to the judges or upload it to SoundCloud or something. Never let something go to waste if you're proud of it.
  4. so first episode of sailor moon crystal released yesterday anybody got thoughts on it so far
  5. 4 years is quite a bit of time. But considering the fact this site as is has been here for like, what, 12 years or something, and then the site in whole is like 15 years old; yeah we're both relatively new. lol
  6. I've never used a compressor with an EQ on it, unless we're referring to what Nase just brought up, Multipressors. I use those actually quite a bit. It's a really great tool.
  7. There's this really really happy and cheesy song in Twilight Princess in some store after you do something and I think it's in the Kakariko Village but I don't know what the song name is but I just remember it sounds like these children are saying "Let's say f***" repetitively in the song. It really weirded me out. I think I'm a bit more confused by this than any song shared so far. lol
  8. Yeah, kinda sucks knowing that Sonic has been kinda garbage after garbage for the past 10 years. There have been the exceptions like Sonic Generations and for me personally, Sonic Unleashed, but even those games are not super outstanding like games from the early 2000s and earlier. Kinda sad.
  9. If anybody was getting an MJ alt costume, it'd probably be Sonic. I laughed so hard watching that.
  10. Oh yeah yeah, I remember that. That game was amazing. I liked that whole thing. But they still have managed to fit the map on the screen every time and they just couldn't do it this time. Instead they put it on the gamepad.
  11. Oh. Duh. I meant to say that. But maybe it just goes without saying
  12. Yeah I don't get that. On the DS you don't have to move your eyes so far so it's easier to check the map and drive. This is an entire separate screen that I have to look down at and them back up at the tv screen. That doesn't work. That's broken. They should've put the darn map on the screen.
  13. Yeah see, that's ridiculous. It's like they wanted to use the gamepad for something, so they put the map on that screen. I can't look down at the map and then back up at the screen; I'll run into a wall. Should've put the dang map on the screen.
  14. lol I cannot play with the gamepad I have to do the Wii Remote and Nunchuck because that's what I'm familiar with and that's what I was good with on Mario Kart Wii
  15. I'm not a bassist but I'm obsessed with bass and I play keyboard bass (hahahaha) If I were to learn any other instrument, it would be bass, no question. When it comes to writing one, it all depends on what style of music you're performing. I'm not going to get into detail because something I never have been for is thinking way too hard about music. That may sound weird, but if I think too hard about what I'm doing or if I try getting skeptical as to how to approach something musically, it doesn't tend to do good for me. Let it just kinda come naturally. However, I will say this: There are times when you get fancy and times when you keep it from getting too fancy. For example, with country music, generally that doesn't get way too fancy. With jazz, go all over the place. That's the idea. You kinda have to feel it out. That rule kinda goes for every instrument, but from going to performances and hearing certain songs, I can tell you sometimes there are basslines where the bassist has potential to play something really sexy at that specific point OR should pull back and not be so overly fancy. I'm an idiot and my mind has gone completely blank with the name of these amazing bassists (even though I totally remember them haha), but I'll name a couple songs or artists with great basslines that immediately come to mind: Chaka Khan - Whatcha Gonna Do For Me Jackson 5 - I Want You Back (and all of Jackson 5 stuff for that matter) Those are both much more in the Funk/RnB, so if you're going for a different genre, just simply study that genre and its basslines. It's a bit more natural for me by this point because I just have a feel for it, but if you just really study it and keep trying and making mistakes and going back and fixing it, you'll continue to improve. The best way to get good at something is to just keep doing it.
  16. Geesh, how many tracks on the remix album are we talkin' about here?
  17. I'm just imagining a chamber choir singing in opera style: "POKEMON, GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALL"
  18. Definitely Skyrim. I think you could pull it off with the other two, but definitely Skyrim. I absolutely love Irish folk and Celtic music, so if you're planning to do something on that, heck to the yes I'll be watching for it.
