    ** UPDATE INCOMING *
I've been away from the topic thread a short while. I have a good excuse though. TRAPPED NERVE IN MY SHOULDER! Luckily it's gone from an intimate and detailed experience in excruciating agony to the far more tolerable category "world of pain" thanks to industrial grade prescriptions. I'm not out of the woods yet, but at least I can sit down and type
    So...
We're down to 8 tracks unclaimed from 34! They are as follows (Click name for source):

    European Town
    Freedom
    Southern Rhythm
X Fyda Claimed by Nostalvania 26/04
    Dungeon
    The Castle of Dragoon
    Dr. Beruga
    Boss Fight
Get claiming if you think you can do any of them justice.
SOME OF YOU EXISTING CLAIMANTS HAVE 1 WEEK LEFT BEFORE YOUR NEXT SUBMISSION DATE - MAY 1ST. I messaged those of you who are relevant to this a couple weeks ago, namely @HoboKa, @rebrained, @Sbeast, @Yami, @Jorito, @Sterbo708 so you should know who you are. I've granted extensions to a couple of ya, so don't worry if this is you. All other remixers should also know their submission date in their heads, if you've forgotten or are uncertain, hit me up. I have a full staggered deadline list. I'm super organised
Anyway, Hopefully all remixers involved are squirreling away, and enjoying it. Let's keep this up. Some really great WIPs so far, you're doing Terranigma proud!
    Happy Mixing!

    MILESTONE UPDATE:
Thanks Odai! Happy to be aboard and I hope the Hobo feels better soon. Everyone send him positive and/or sexy thoughts to speed his recovery!
As alluded to in my very first line of text on this post; this update is a milestone in that we have received our first completed track! @Ganaé has finished his track for Light & Darkness (otherwise known as the main title theme) and it shall have the honour of being the very first entry to be marked as Blue on the front page. Give him an enormous round of virtual applause!
Deadlines are gradually encroaching so I hope you're all beavering away (by which I mean keeping busy, not building dams and causing entire rivers to divert course and flood nearby villages. It's OK if you are though; everyone needs a hobby). If anyone requires a reminder of when their WIP is due please feel free to PM me and I'll sort you out.
There's still 9 tracks plus the bonus medley to be claimed so if anyone feels like picking up an extra source or if a new player wishes to enter the game, uh, I mean wishes to claim a track then please PM myself or Odai with your choice(s).
Keep up the excellent work everyone! You are all awesome!

    LONG LONG LONG OVERDUE UPDATE:

So as you can see we have @HoboKa on board as the Co-Director. Brilliant stuff! Having spoken to him/ at length during the course of this project, I'm happy to have him on board. He knows this game, and he knows his stuff. Welcome!

I've been in the wilderness for a couple weeks, but I'm happy to say that's behind me. Back on track with this album and happy to continue forwards. Still, as Hoboka himself has mentioned, if you can't reach me, feel free to contact him.

Onto the state of the album:
We now have 9 tracks of 34 claimed. That's almost a third, equating to one disk, not to mention the first claimed WIPs have started trickling through! This makes me happy. Keep claiming if you want to, It'll be good to see more faces
Everyone already on board, who hasn't sent their first WIP in yet, I'll be contacting you presently.

    Happy musicmaking, folks!

Hi all, I've been reeled in as co-director.  So if Odai isn't available to respond, or if you anyone needs some feedback and whatnot, be sure to throw me a line via PM.  Terranigma is one of my favourite SNES games, so I'm heavily invested in getting this project done, equally as much as Odai is, no doubt.  Thanks!

    Round 50: NES Super Mario Bro's Free-For-All!!!!
    50th anniversary SPECIAL ROUND
Deadline: Mar 8th Tues 1 PM
Vote Ends: Mar 10th Thurs 11 PM
Submit your remix Here when completed.
Since it's kind of a milestone, I had the idea of doing something fun.  Since Super Mario Bros. is one of the franchises best known for starting the trend of home consoles and popularizing video games, we should do the "MnP 50 NES SMB FFA."
    Rules:
Any track from SMB 1, 2 or 3 for the NES is fair game.
Mash-ups and medleys are okay (you can even use multiple games in one track if you want), just don't do it for the sake of doing one.  Ultimately my bonus vote will be based on production value and creativity, while maintaining all important parts of the source.

A bunch of .mid files are available at http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/nes/ (Search Super Mario Bros and you wont have to scroll).

Random thoughts, in no particular order:
To best approximate a real event, it would probably be best to have an equal number of heroes as villains. It would be pretty hilarious if the "Heel" wrestlers (monsters) went by their "actor" names from Castlevania I.  Boris Karloffice, Love Chaney, Christopher Bee, etc. Castlevania: Judgment has "official" character themes for several characters, both heroes and monsters.  Not that we'd have to stick with these, but they're a good starting point. There should probably be two versions, one with voiceovers, crowd noises, etc. and one without.  The one with could also have an announcers' intro and other "event" segments. I'm already planning on organizing an OCR-I for CCoI.  This might actually be a good opportunity for me to get my feet wet, since it would have a couple months' head start, and I'd need a co-director anyway--I can put in the time and effort, and I know Castlevania pretty well, but I have no album experience, I don't have a sufficiently good ear for quality standards, and the last pro wrestling event I watched was when The Undertaker made his WWF debut.  But if someone is willing to help with that side of things, I'd be happy to take on what I can.

First of all; thanks MW for the feedback! I eat that stuff up like you wouldn't believe. Also thanks to everyone who voted for me! I got exactly 7 more votes than I was expecting to.
Secondly; I'll say right now that I won't be participating in the Dracula bracket due to other commitments. Best of luck to everyone else in the competition!

Since this is a tough round to call, I'm taking the extra time to write reviews and collect my thoughts.  As usual, I may come across as overly critical, but on the whole, this was an exceptional round.  Going to be some strong competition in the Dracula bracket!
The Witching Hour: Production-wise, OA delivers, as always.  The A->B->A/B->B arrangement is pretty typical for these compos, and I could have done with more blending earlier on.  The blending itself seemed a little awkward--the elements were interleaved but never seemed to really interact with each other.  It's a real shame, too, because I feel like the treatment of the minimalistic Castle Center, a tough source to work with IMO, was exceptional, and I would have loved to have seen it get some more melodic components added to it. I Never Drink, Wine: Very thin soundscape, unfortunately emphasized by direct comparison to OA's mix.  The buildup to the opening at 0:32 was weaksauce, and again at 2:31.  Not much use of Castle Center that I could hear.  Interesting use of clips from Dracula, but, except for the title quote (which had no backing music), they were pretty muddy and I couldn't understand the words. The Fury within the Wicked Heart: Orchestral/rock fusion is a favorite genre of mine, but I don't feel this was the best execution.  The chugging overdriven guitar doesn't play well with the orchestra, and there are quite a few places where their notes seem to clash or go off-tempo.  The guitar is a little too loud, too.  It's a little repetitive in places, e.g. the intro goes on for a little too long IMO.  The two themes weren't blended together very well as far as I can hear, it's mostly Heart of Fire -> Wicked Child with some original sections.  Maybe some aspect other than the melody is being blended, but I'm not hearing it. This Wicked Heart of Mine: You did a great job here of intermixing the two sources, although it sounds like you found some of the key differences challenging.  I actually had to listen to this several times to catch which segments were part of which source--they're interleaved so thoroughly that I kept thinking it was sticking to one source when it was really using both closely together. Interesting decision to really focus on the intro of Wicked Child, at the expense of the body of that song, but I think it worked pretty well.  Lyrics get seriously repetitive; I feel this would have benefited greatly from real ones.  It feels like the balance is heavy on the high end; if you revisit this (and I hope you do), I'm hoping someone in the Workshop can comment on that more specifically. Don't Cry for Me, Vampire Killer: Not a big fan of most of these melodic variations, personally.  Just a matter of taste.  I felt like the intro and breakdown had the strongest production quality, and that the melodic sections were pretty thin.  Might just be a poor choice of lead.  Basic A->breakdown->B arrangement structure, no interplay between the two sources.  The "hiccup" at 3:10 seems unintentional, since it happens only once, so it sounds like a skip. Dracula's Madness: Interesting departure from your usual chip-heavy style.  Not really my thing, but it's well-executed for what it is, certainly up to your standards if not your style.  I just wish you'd managed to get Bloody Tears in there earlier--even incomplete, I might have voted for this if it met the compo's basic concept.

Not sure if I was one of them (I tried), but if 50% of the names are wrong it probably means the instructions are too difficult or unclear
Or as Sun Tzu put it: "If words of command are not clear and distinct, if orders are not thoroughly understood, then the general is to blame. But, if orders are clear and the soldiers nevertheless disobey, then it is the fault of their oficers.”

Yes, I'm still among the living, just haven't had much time to partake in the thread...Its funny since working overtime on this remix I found myself emulating the Count's habits. Sleeping all day, up all night, avoiding all daylight, leaving my dwelling only to feed and terrorizing the illiterate peasants of Walachia in the late 1890's.  I'll swing by tomorrow and see how everyone's doing, Night.

I thought Bug! was a Sega Saturn game.  I'm pretty sure we're getting our Sega systems completely mixed up here. xD

Among the games I got for the PS1, I'd consider Klonoa a 'hidden gem' as hardly anyone got it, but to me it looked so beautiful and had a very unusual engine at the time - I mean, it works like a 2D platformer but the paths wind around a 3D map and could just cross over with each other at any time.  The presentation looked really lovely for a PS1 game at the time, and to this day it's still one of those few games that make me cry at the end.  I say try it out!
