  1. Hey all; for those who haven't yet heard the buzz, the brilliant minds at Trilobyte Games just launched a Kickstarter for The 7th Guest Board Game. If you were a fan of the original 7th Guest game, check it out... heck check it out even if you've never played the game, cause it looks pretty cool!
  2. Ooh, I'm a Dead Space fan, let's check this out. All in all, not bad! Not an easy task either, I did a couple similar sound-replacement homework assignments when I took classes at Purchase College. It pulled me in, I kept wondering "where are the necromorphs?" The only things I'd nitpick would be that the door opening sounded longer and slower than the corresponding visual of the door opening, and I felt the chainsaw weapon (I'm blanking on the name for that one) could have been a bit louder and sharper. But generally, good work. How'd the University folks like it?
  3. Dang man, that's impressive, I didn't know you juggled as well. I have some friends who are into juggling that I've shared this with; best of luck with your goal!
  4. Hot diggity, nice to see some more Duke Nukem 3D love. I almost remixed this theme a while back, never did, so it's cool to hear someone else tackle it. I feel it takes a bit to get going, but I'd agree with the judges that it almost has a mellow aspect once the groove comes in. Rather than headbangin' I find myself swaying back and forth, envisioning ol' Duke shooting them aliens up in a casual, laid-back manner. I'd prefer a little more variety as the track continues, perhaps a different lead sound or a change in the percussion, but still, a nice track that hits that nuanced "aggressive chillout" style. Now to go check out the rest of "Reduked"!
  5. Aaaaand, as previously indicated, the project is now out on a variety of platforms: https://itunes.apple.com/album/american-pixels/id1192532669 https://play.google.com/store/music/album/Mazedude_American_Pixels?id=Bfrmdlyf2mx65eie3b7oxm76som https://mazedude.bandcamp.com/album/american-pixels Pick your favorite, check it out, like it, review it, share it, all that fun stuff. Oh, and physical CDs are also now available through Bandcamp for anyone who wants to have and to hold it. I'll add that I've also got a pretty cool start on the first Kickstarter commission reward remix, so... stay tuned, there are some pretty cool free follow-up goodies on the way.
  6. Had a great time at MAG, and it was great hanging out with all the OCR peeps! I'm also glad I went to the panel, there are a couple new projects I still need to go download. Good stuff.
  7. To all who haven't yet heard the news, I'm pleased to report that the album is finally FINISHED. The project is currently on Bandcamp, with other distribution channels pending. Thanks to all for the support for Kickstarter; now, go check out the final product! https://mazedude.bandcamp.com/album/american-pixels
  8. I'll be there... first time in a few years now, although I'm still proud to say that I was at the very first one, way back when. Sometimes I still think of it by the original name "Mid-Atlantic Gaming Festival" - now there's some trivia for y'all. Looking forward to seeing you guys there; hit me up if - nay, WHEN - there's to be an OCR hangout! (Or two, or three...) Cell: 315-744-2839.
  9. 24 hours left y'all. Pledge before it's over. And with that, I present the remaining track teasers: "Bernard Electric" (Maniac Mansion), original theme by Dave Govett, featuring Matt Vacanti on electric bass: http://www.americanpixels.com/bernard-electric.php "Maniac Muzak" (Maniac Mansion), original theme by George "The Fat Man" Sanger, featuring Maho Azuma on flute: http://www.americanpixels.com/maniac-muzak.php "Big Sister Matti" (Bioshock 2), original theme by Garry Schyman: http://www.americanpixels.com/big-sister-matti.php "Aurelia for Trombone" (Advent Rising), original theme by Tommy Tallarico, featuring David White on trombone: http://www.americanpixels.com/aurelia-for-trombone.php Enjoy, and please, help me make this campaign a success by spreading the word and sharing this link wherever your heart tells you: http://kck.st/29VAqtA And, again, thanks to everyone here for their amazing support through this campaign. I love you guys.
  10. Figured I'd share all the extended track teasers and behind-the-scenes stories that have been released so far, since there are a lot and it's quite possible that folks have missed some... and it'll save you having to dig through the "updates" tab on the campaign: "The Dragonborn Concerto" (Skyrim), original theme by Jeremy Soule, featuring our own David "dhsu" Hsu on piano - http://www.americanpixels.com/dragonborn-concerto.php "Liquid Tribes" (Puzzlejuice), original theme by our very own Jimmy "Big Giant Circles" Hinson - http://www.americanpixels.com/liquid-tribes.php "Agent Sprawl" (Dead Space 2), original theme by Jason Graves, featuring our own Kunal Majmudar on keys - http://www.americanpixels.com/agent-sprawl.php "Tristram in Flames" (Diablo), original theme by Matt Uelmen, featuring our own Ailsean on guitar - http://www.americanpixels.com/tristram-in-flames.php "Transponder Mission" (Mass Effect 2), original theme by Jack Wall - http://www.americanpixels.com/transponder-mission.php "Tribal Clayface" (Batman Arkham City), original theme by Ron Fish - http://www.americanpixels.com/tribal-clayface.php "Angelhenge" (Brutal Legend), original theme by Peter McConnell, featuring our own zyko on guitar - http://www.americanpixels.com/angelhenge.php "Switch Force Ballad" (Mighty Switch Force 2), original theme by our friend Jake Kaufman - http://www.americanpixels.com/switch-force-ballad.php "Metropolis for Guitar" (DC Universe Online), original theme by Gerard Marino, featuring William Reyes of The OneUps on guitar - http://www.americanpixels.com/metropolis-for-guitar.php "Purple Streets" (Sam and Max Season One), original theme by Jared Emerson-Johnson - http://www.americanpixels.com/purple-streets.php So... yeah. Enjoy. There are still a few days left in the campaign, and I do have a few more teasers and stories on the way... but that's the bulk of them right there!
  11. Big update everyone... today we hit 100%!!! The project is now officially funded. Huge, huge thanks to OCR for the help. That said, we have 7 days to go, and to celebrate, today I added a new stretch goal. Help me get to the next level, and the next remix I do as a post-launch bonus track will be... "Baba Yetu" By Christopher Tin, from Civilization IV: It's been requested a lot over the years actually, but man... a hard one to do justice to. But let's keep this funding momentum going over the next few days, and I'll make it happen. Thanks again!!!
  12. What's funny is that when I picked this game to remix, I was primarily trying to find something by Alexander Brandon that I hadn't heard before. So, I skipped over Deus Ex, Jazz Jackrabbit, Unreal, and then... I found Tyrian on Alexander's Bandcamp page. Ideas formed from there, and the rest is history. Glad you enjoy it!
  13. Quick update: by popular demand, I've added some new "digital only" reward options, for those who want to support the project from afar without any shipping and handling fees attached. If you're one of those... you're welcome. Today we hit 100 backers!!! It's exciting, but we still have some ground to cover in the 10 days that remain; I'm counting on all of your support! (Btw, even more extended teasers are available in the "updates" portion of the campaign now, with more on the way.)
  14. So, good news everyone! We've hit the 50% mark! http://americanpixels.com/50-percent.php And, umm, not quite bad news, but well, there's still that other 50% to hit. Now, I personally have been on the other side of the equation where I see a Kickstarter I like, I don't go pledge right away, and rather I'll sit back and watch for a bit... and then eventually pledge when it gets down to the wire. Well, if you're reading this, do me a favor. Don't be that guy. (Now that I've been on the receiving end here, I'm making myself a promise not to be that guy again, heh.) Let's ensure that this thing becomes a reality; if you've been waiting and wondering, well, now's a good chance to act. Get your pledge in before time runs out: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1265656914/american-pixels-a-game-music-tribute-album-by-maze In other fun news, I've been enhancing that link with extended track previews in the "Updates" portion - and will continue to over the next couple weeks - so if you want to hear more of the music before deciding how much to pledge, feel free, and enjoy the stories behind the tracks! (Stay tuned to my FB page for more stories as they are released.)
  15. Ever write a bunch of music for a project, to basically be told "yeah... it's good... but it's too dark and heavy"...? Well, I have. That's what happened with this collection I put together here a while ago (it occurred that I put it on Bandcamp but don't think I ever shared it here). The project director asked me to then write some music that wouldn't "scare the children," hence the title, heh. https://mazedude.bandcamp.com/album/please-dont-scare-the-children It's original, but it definitely has a video gamey quality to a whole lot of it, so, enjoy.
  16. Always happy to support Beatdrop's endeavor's; enjoying me some Delta-V (track eight) at the moment. Digging the fusion of retro synth sounds with modern drum n' bass motifs. Good stuff.
  17. I do appreciate that a lot actually, I've received remarkably little feedback on that arrangement, and it was a damn difficult one to pull off. Glad to know folks are enjoying it.
  18. Friends, I have awesome news. At long last... after five years of talking about it... American Pixels is here. The project has just landed on Kickstarter for the final push, this 4th of July in the year of our Lord 2016. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1265656914/american-pixels-a-game-music-tribute-album-by-maze This has been a labor of love, blood, sweat, and tears... and damn the music came out awesome, if I do say so myself. Now I just need that last little nudge to cover the cost of mastering, licensing, CD duplication, etc. Any and all help from the OCR crew to spread the word would be vastly appreciated; let's make this thing EPIC together!
  19. Let's see... I'll be giving this its own thread before long, but for the moment, methinks it'd be safe to share this here as well. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1265656914/american-pixels-a-game-music-tribute-album-by-maze Yep. American Pixels. Finally.
  20. American Pixels, my long-awaited sequel to The American Album, is now live on Kickstarter. 'nuff said.

  21. I'd have to say, a bunch of Jake Kaufman's work is on the brighter, upbeat side of things. I have this one in my running mix and my driving mix, perks me up every time: Mighty Switch Force: Yummy (Electronugget Remix) - The whole soundtrack is pretty great, actually - http://virt.bandcamp.com/album/mighty-switch-force-ost And the 2nd one's even better, in my opinion.
  22. Oof. Found out that I won't be able to make this conference after all. Shoot. Sorry to get your hopes up folks; turns out the higher ups where I work took too long to get back to me about this and now things are either filled up, unavailable, or too expensive. Which kinda makes me grumpy since I brought this up back in freakin' January. Grumble grumble. I'll make it out there one of these days! In the meantime if y'all do a hangout anyways, have a drink for me.
  23. Phooey, well thanks for letting me know. I'm waiting to hear back from another contact about a place to crash, so hopefully it'll all work out. I've only ever been to SF once and it was a very rushed trip, so I'd enjoy a chance to actually see the city for a couple days this time, heh.
  24. Hey hey, sounds promising! Good deal. It's still very tentative at this point; my company is being iffy about the cost it would take to send me out there, although they totally see the benefit it would bring. I guess a follow-up question would be - in order to help them save money and thus afford the plane tickets - would I be able to crash with anyone if I had to? Mirby? Waleed? A simple couch would suffice. And yeah if it works out, let's definitely arrange a hang-out, it's funny that there'll be some other folks out there for work as well.
  25. Hey gang; Mazedude here. So, this is very tentative, but I might be coming out to San Francisco next month, and it could be fun to hang with some OCR peeps while I'm in town. I've only been out that way once, ever, but this time it could be for a whole week. Big web developer's conference in downtown that I'd like to attend. And I imagine there are probably some folks I know who don't often get to come to the East Coast events like MAGFest, yeah? So, just throwing that out there; not sure how busy I'll be networking and all at the event, but around the training it could be fun to have someone I know show me the city a little.
