  1. I agree completely. Contrary to what some may say, there is a line between scat singing and random gibberish.
  2. Well, let me go check my underwear. I nearly shit myself when that distorted guitar hit. Seriously though, I do agree your compositions often feel rather dissonant and random. As mine did when I started. In my opinion, what a lot of your compositions lack is a solid harmonic structure and melodic direction. It sounds like you have lots of ideas going at once. Too many ideas. Perhaps try starting with a simple chord progression for the melody to follow and then build off of that. Seems you like to write melodies more though. So you could find it easier to do it in reverse. Make a melody, then put chords or counter melodies to it. What I'd recommend doing, and you may already be doing this, is learn about the different "non-chord tones" and how to use them. Such as passing tones, appogiatura, suspensions, changing tones etc. Lots of people don't learn about those things and feel they're un-important but understanding them will greatly improve one's ability to write melodies.
  3. Thanks! I'll change up that one lead a bit for sure. I'll swap that snare out too. I'll tweak the bass range as well. Agree on the drop, I'll for sure try to make that smoother. All that should probably be easy to fix. Now let's see if I screw it up lol
  4. So I've always been addicted to Marvel. Especially the X-Men. My metal band is even named after stuff from the marvel comics lol. I thought I'd make a "Psytrance" type remix of that theme song. You know the one. It's not nearly finished yet. I plan to throw more complicated parts and some insane guitar shredding. Because I always feel weird when I do a song and don't play SOME guitar lol. Feedback much appreciated. Clickity clack that button!
  5. 7 Minutes!? Good lord, that's like the Dream Theater of electronic music. Nice guitar! I like this track! That being said, toward the beginning there's a couple guitar licks and I'm like "oooooh shit's gonna get real"....then there's no solo or more elaborate guitar melody to follow. That's a total buzzkill. Other than that, it was repititious (screw spelling) goodness. For me anyway. I imagine this is what LSD is like. btw I see you have a whole 20 minute video about Sonic The Hedgehog 3D games. The backing music in that vid is great too. You create that?
  6. The rhythm guitars don't sound very wide and they are quiet. As previously stated in the thread the panning is a bit crazy. The main thing though, is that the whole thing feels......disjointed? Also, with metal guitars it's quite a common thing to have too much bass. Believe me I had way too much low end many times. The reason is almost always this. In metal, the rhythm guitar is usually pitched pretty low. That usually overlaps with the bass guitar and/or drums and things start gettin' muddy. So to fix that, record with less bass on the amp. I usually go for around 4-5. Then, with the EQ in the mixing I usually back off the bass a few decibels on the rhythm guitars and back off the mid-lows a tad on the bass guitar. I also cut some of the sub out of the bass guitar and leave the sub mostly for the kick drum! That works pretty well for me on my newer recordings I find. Depends on the song and your equipment too I suppose. So maybe I've provided useless tips. I'm by no means a master of mixing. Keep workin' on it! \m/
  7. At the end of the day they're just thieves with computers.
  8. My bet is a slightly new look. I dunno though, lots of people have been commenting on his appearance. Man I popped in Ninja Gaiden II a couple hours ago for the first time in a while. Surprisingly I still got the skillz lol. Made it through few chapters without dyin' even once8-)
  9. I'm actually doing music for a couple indie games currently in development. So I maybe I can provide some advice from a person who's just getting into "the biz". What I learned is that it's best to bring the work to you. At least in the beginning. You can email companies all day long but most of the time they'll never respond. The most effective thing to do, is open up a tindeck/soundcloud/youtube account and post your music on it and spread it around. Then, post ads offering your services on indie development sites like devmaster. Hell, even Vimeo's project forums is very useful for this! Most of the big wigs only hire people who have a resume of titles. Not just in video games. Experience is everything it seems.
  10. Well, the piano lead was panned....have to fix that lol. Thanks!
  11. I think they've probably surpassed current xbox and ps3 tech. Seems kinda pointless to just "catch up". Also, you know this thing will sell millions in it's first week of release and will continue to make money for years. There's nothing that can really be done about timing. Companies of all kinds will always be releasing hardware at different times. Either way, fanboys will buy the consoles regardless of what is the best hardware.
  12. Maybe they're just doin' this so that ragequitters won't be able to replace their smashed controllers so easily =P
  13. Nice Work!!! Lead guitar is too quiet though but like you said, you'll fix that stuff.
  14. The only Ninja Gaiden I ever could beat was Ninja Gaiden II on Xbox lol. I have the first NES game and I could never beat that. Got close though! I'm really likin' what I've saw from the trailers. I don't really know much about it but the London Ferris Wheel looks badass and the game is (probably) mission based. They'll also Unmask him in this game
  15. "You won't be able to buy the controller alone." Now I'm re-considering what I thought I'd for sure purchase.
  16. Didn't see a thread about this yet. NINJA GAIDEN III Takes place in London this time. I wonder if it will be as hard as Ninja Gaiden II? Nothing will beat the NES games in difficulty though. Their difficulty curve resembled a brick wall.
  17. You're thinking of the Xbox 360. I still have my gamecube and NES and they still work like brand new. I don't recall the gamecube ever giving me one problem.
  18. Well I thought beyond the bounds was a good song except for the verse singing is awful in my opinion. I should've been more specific. As for length, it is too short. I don't really know how long I think it should be. I never owned the game, just rented it for a week. I finished it in just a few days of having it though. Thing about that is, despite my love of game music, I don't really play games a whole lot. So usually if I can finish a game in just a few days, that's a sign it's too short lol.
  19. I take back any negative statements I've ever made towards Nintendo. This thing looks awesome!
  20. All of the guitars of F-Zero GX and the Korean OST of Guilty Gear X2 #Reload. Far superior than the normal japanese soundtrack. Nuff said.
  21. The 2003 Hulk film was so awful they "re-booted" it just 5 years later.....and it was still awful. Quit with the re-boots.
