  1. Wow, am I impressed. Don't pass this mix up without listening to the last 1:30 - the wind solos and background runs take this tune I know so well into directions and places I had never planned. It's like some kind of airy, yet unsettling, walk through the trees. Very impressive.
  2. I'll echo what a number of commenters have said - while I wish the guitars were a little more dominant, the reason I want them to be more dominant is that I find myself truly impressed and pleased - multiple times! - with your take on the source themes and how they move from one to another. What an enjoyable hear! A more rocking guitar could be duplicated, but such innovation cannot!
  3. This was so unique and fun! What a bizarre idea - and yet shockingly fun to listen to. Props to the vocalists who stepped up and made this happen! I find myself listening to it throughout the day...
  4. DJPretzel actually somehow undersells this mix, which is shocking considering his praise, but there just aren't words enough to describe what an accomplishment this remix is. This is one of the most beautiful renditions of a song that I've ever heard. And it isn't just some great singer (though major credit to the voice quality!) - it's far more than that. The lyrics, good heavens, the lyrics are absolutely A+ and really evoke both emotions and the source material - tough to do both. Add to that the fact that she did all the instruments herself and added absolutely scintillating harmonies and changes that seem like they were part of the source all along...... ...This is one of my favorite remixes I've ever heard. Pure beauty. Be proud, katethegreat19 - you have created something truly wonderful.
  5. Really impressive!! The quote by MasterVash really says it all: I had no idea dubstep could sound like this. Color me impressed, and loving it.
  6. It's really a tribute to this piece that it sounds like it was just recorded, and yet it has stood the test of time. Listening to it is feels like taking a slow walk through an ice-covered forest; quiet, beautiful, and pristine. A total success.
  7. A huge success!!! You do justice to an epic tune, and even more impressive, show some pretty fantastic range while doing so. Very, very high quality remix, and a staple of what I think is the best total album on OCRemix to date. WELL DONE!
  8. I kind of agree with Inferno232. This mix is pretty fun the first time you listen to it, but it takes you over from there. It's one of my favorite songs to play at work. Fantastic. The best compliment I can give? I know the source material by heart, but had no experience with Daft Punk or anything in this style at all.... and even though I've tried to find other remixes that pull this kind of thing off, nothing else comes close. Phenomenal.
  9. ...about Fierce Melancholy of the Woods, my favorite song of the entire album and the best version of the tune I've ever heard. Absolutely 5 starts. Love the effort and execution!! Well done!!!
  10. I posted as part of the album: but for anyone stumbling on this song, this is one of the best songs I've ever heard on OC Remix. One of the most multi-layered, evocative, impressive efforts I can think of. Words do not do it justice.
  11. To all artists on what I deem to be in the top-3 albums available by OCRemix: First, THANK YOU! Your efforts and dedication are loved by so many more than you think. I have been listening for months, and finally had to get an account just so I could post about how great this album is. While a shocking amount of tracks were good-to-excellent (very few do I pass over), some tracks truly stood out. All of these are 5-star efforts, above and beyond 'good' and into 'absolutely memorable' territory. Full Of Courage: What an opening. Read The Sine: One of the most unique entries on the album and one of my favorites. What a distinct effort on this one! Golbez N' Goblins: Only one other track on the album gets things kickin' as much as this awesome track does. Mystic Variations: To do justice to this tune is an incredible accomplishment! Fallen Dragoon: Holy ----. Maybe my favorite song on the entire album. The use of melody and overlaying harmonies - the choice of instruments - one of the most evocative, engaging, and moody pieces I've ever heard. WOW. The Still Land: Major props must be leveled for taking a song with such a simple beginning and turning it into such a haunting, beautiful song. Wow was this incredible. Bridge To Eternity: This, along with Golbez N' Goblins, is physically impossible to listen to and not have your blood start pumping. All Your Calcobrena Are Belong To Us: So unique, so memorable!! This is so fun to listen to. I'd like to make one last acknowledgement of the special vocal efforts made on pieces like Somewhere To Hide and Finale Part II. It is a tribute that these vocal efforts didn't just avoid detracting to the piece; they added to it, and in both cases, I can't imagine the song being without them. To everyone on this album, this was, and has been, a special treat. Thank you.
  12. This track shows impressive range and depth. God knows I have rocked out to Aire Tam Break and Who's That Child (and if you haven't heard those, run, don't walk, to your nearest link), but the fact that this is so enjoyable really impresses me. Well done Fishy!!
