  1. A tremendous effort here, as a simple/repetitive source is given a huge infusion of life, scale, and feeling. This is a good remix, sure, and there a lot of absolutely phenomenal remixes on the album, but this might be one of the most talented remixes - to turn this source into a GREAT song takes really impressive vision and chops. djpretzel nails it: if you've even played 30 seconds of God of War, listen to this mix - it would be right at home here. That's a compliment.
  2. YES. 1000 TIMES YES. What beautiful, evocative vocals and background... it's like listening to a beautiful spring wind that lightly wisps through your hair and continues on, making you happy you got to breathe it in for a few brief moments. A must-listen.
  3. Argle nails it. This kind of lost confusion and wonder, tinged with sadness, brings to mind the theme of Chrono Trigger's broken, windswept future. Where am I...?
  4. As a lover of Terra's theme, and its emotional depth, I didn't think a dubstep/pounding/butt-kicking take on Terra's theme could be done. Holy crap, I was wrong. Stop what you're doing, turn up the volume, AND ROCK THE CLUCK OUT. One of the more bizarre takes of a source material I've seen - and one of the best.
  5. I am really impressed that this mix "went for it", so to speak - the source is already pretty epic, and to see someone not shy away from that, but embrace it, and really deliver on an overall huge performance is really impressive. This is one of those mixes that deserves to be listened to on the same grand scale it was conceived. Some of the work (like 2:05-2:30) really catches the ear with original and unique takes on the main source. I think the best thing I can say is that the whole piece truly reminds me of the infamous "Magician's Apprentice" section of Fantasia - the music is a whole story in itself! Well done!!
  6. There are many tracks to love on this album - but the ability to capture a specific feel may never have been better done than this unbelievably evocative, jaw-dropping plunge into the dark elements of a theme. Good heavens, what a feel. Congratulations on taking an absolutely unique and tremendous take that betters the original standalone theme.
  7. Good gracious heaven, what a track. I'm just... floored. The moxie to think you can pull something like this off... and then the guts to actually do it. What a shining star of an accomplishment.
  8. WOW!!!!!! I know The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly the best of the Man With No Name trilogy, and this absolutely NAILS IT. NAILS IT!! Run, do not walk, to download this as quickly as you can manage! What you have done with the melody and the supporting structure is nothing short of astonishing. The use of the female vocals and the amazing, drawn out touch of some of the instruments, the whistling - this is the most enjoyable, rocking, invigorating take on this I've ever heard. HOLY. SHITTAKE. MUSHROOMS. Everyone take a bow. I'll be listening to this song for the next decade, and likely longer.
  9. An incredible opener. I am blown away. The quality! My god! I am absolutely swept up in the emotion and feel that is brimming throughout the piece. I am ready to download the album without a second thought. Props to everyone. Just... wow.
  10. I only know one of the sources (guess which), but what I really enjoyed about this mix is that the two sources were so well woven together that I never even got the sense of any contrasting or dissonant elements. I enjoy the build and feel around 2:15-2:45, and while I as well could agree that the bass and drums left some to be desired, the strength of the performance resides in the great writing and emotive violin feeling, which really sell. Well done!
  11. and it suddenly occured to me that while many old-time games are represented (and well honored) by remixers on this site, I had never seen a Dragon Warrior remix. After a quick search, I got to listen to quite a few - but nothing approached this. What an emotional, original feel that does both justice to one of the most distinctly simple-yet-deep melodies a game has ever had. The best of what you're looking for. Get this mix.
  12. I think I agree with most of the comments here - the arrangement is fun, light, airy, and awesome. Really enjoy the flute work! Bonus points for the arrangement when I don't know Plant Man's theme that well (though Dr. Wily is always a classic). Well done!
  13. Count me impressed! This is certainly not my usual style of music, but I found myself nodding/banging my head through most of this entire rocking combo of themes. It's really infused with a lot of energy and spirit. Totally not what I was expecting or like other stuff out there. Totally FUN.
  14. A really nice take on a unique source! I haven't thought of the ending of Super Mario Land for two decades, and here it is in all its glory - only better. Very impressive!!
  15. Having played Plants vs. Zombies a ton, I recognized this right off the bat but was really impressed where you went with it. 1:03-1:57 was truly tremendous. The 1:57-2:15 section was a little harsh for me, but I didn't hate it, and the rest of the mix is enjoyable. The ending screams were perfect and well done! Again, things really shine at 1:03-1:57 (what a great first solo), but the mix is good overall!
  16. This might be my least favorite song of the source material, and the minimalist/individual style is something I'm not accustomed to or generally prefer... and yet I kept listening. While not my bag, I think this mix really does have some talent. Hopefully that is a bigger sign than someone who loves this kind of sound outright that more should give this unique take a listen.
  17. A really interesting mix that integrates such an airy vocal set with such a thumping background in a way that I didn't expect... and yet, it really seems to work! I find myself nodding along and enjoying the juxtaposition. So happy you stepped up and did a FF XIII mix (of which I hope there are more) and it was such a success!
  18. The first minute alone is worth your download. WOW, the piano. And it picks up from there. Whew!
  19. Wonderfully gorgeous - beautiful - and evocative, particularly the work around 2:06. Wow.
  20. I liked this mix! It's not often that you hear an organ/guitar come together but this particularly works for the source material in a way that seems right. Well done!
  21. I loved this. Congratulations on something truly original. I felt totally transported to a bluegrass band (or a back porch) where everyone was getting together and just taking the tune and running with it in a wonderfully organic matter. TREMENDOUS whistling - the ability for that to be both the lead and the background was impressive! A must for everyone who wants something new that they haven't heard before!
  22. What a wonderful work this is! It's smooth and intriguing, and truly an underrated effort. A fantastic listen! I could wander the Via Purifico for a long time as long as I had this song in my back pocket...
  23. This arrangment really does soar above the individual choices for the sounds. Impressive and moving! I loved listening to this and it was an instant download. Great vision and range shown here! Really enjoyable!!
  24. djpretzel, keep kicking it on the FF VI project. We all appreciate the persistence and dedication! I truly am amazed at the quality and work that goes on at OC Remix This mix is a neat little appetizer to the main course. If you've heard FF VI, you've heard Terra's theme remixed, so I can imagine a little fatigue, but definitely stick around for the middle part of the mix (2:00 or so on). Things kick up a notch and there's some really enjoyable ideas in there. Best part of the mix!
  25. Wow, OA, you nailed it. This is a wonderful take on the material - true to its source, only softer and easier, an enjoyable listen. Not in your face, but lots of charm.
