  1. To be honest, drum compression and compression in general is something that I still have to learn. Regarding your soundcloud link I suppose it's the snare that needs to be compressed, I guess. Or are there other parts of the drums that should be compressed as well, like the kick drum?
  2. Alright, here is the first update: https://app.box.com/s/xlmpzpcert0yp22o18vg I finally managed to finish the drum part and I think the brushed drums was a good idea, thanks for the advice guys
  3. I'm glad you like it Well, I thought there are so many fonts to choose from so why not try another? I liked the new one and then I got used to it, I guess.
  4. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it! The kokiri parts have some kind of a 2 respectively 4 against 3 feel to them, and the first four notes of the theme are actually (almost) straight 8 notes. I think thats probably the reason why it sounds a bit stiff. But yeah, I think my timing wasn't always perfect, maybe I'll re-record some parts. The part at 4:23 is really stiff, especialy the right hand. As for the mastering: I used a slight low cut and a very slight high cut on the eq. I also used a stereo enhancer, and a maximizer to make it a bit louder. Yes, there is probably a bit too much reverb, I agree. The intro is already written, I just have to record it
  5. Hello OC remixers! Here is yet another Ocarina Of Time Solo-Piano remix by me. This is actually the first time I've used two source tunes: Source 1 (Town): Source 2 (Kokiri Forest): And here's the remix: https://app.box.com/s/kr07oq6nge621opm6dgv (Mod Review Version) I don’t know if it’s necessary but here is a source breakdown : 00:00 - 00:47 Intro (Variation of the town theme) 00:48 – 01:31 Town Theme 01:32 – 01:52 Kokiri Forest ( B part) 01:53 – 02:25 Kokiri ( A part) 02:25 – 03 :15 Town 03:16 – 03 :43 Interlude ( Var. of town theme) 03:44 – 04:03 Town 04:04 – 04:14 Kokiri ( 04:15 – 04:56 kokiri (A) 04:57 – 05:20 Town 05:20 – 06:05 Ending
  6. So, maybe I should boost the high end of the lead a bit? I'm glad you like my chords, I appreciate it!
  7. Thanks for the replies! Yes I agree, it needs some drums and i'm already working on a drum part. I actually like the E-Bass, it fits with the funky style of the arrangement IMO. But yeah, I will try how it sounds with the upright. I think it just depends a bit on the quality of my acoustic bass samples, i'm afraid that it will sound too fake.
  8. This is a funky version of the overworld theme from the Legend Of Zelda. Here's da link: https://app.box.com/s/z9nui51q66gp5oviya5d And here's the well known original: http://youtu.be/lpEzYEoV9qY I dunno, maybe I will make a real remix, with more instruments and drums... Thanks for listening and feel free to comment
  9. Ok, thanks Tim-aye-us Yeah nice source, I like dat bass. Definitely got that egyptian feel, although it's more rockish.
  10. Yeah, a source link is always a good thing, especially for people (like me) who are not familiar with the source. The title and the mood of the piece tell me that this is some kind of egyptian/desert stage theme, so I assume that the mix is probably pretty close to the source in terms of mood and harmony. Anyway, the remix sounds pretty decent IMO. I'm not an mixing expert but I think there are probably too many low and low mid frequencies which make the mix sound a bit muddy. The solo guitar at 2:28 is cool, I like it. I agree with HoboKa on the volume levels, I think some instruments could be more in the background than others.
  11. This sounds very nice, well done! In my opinion, the form and the harmonic structure of the song (source) might be a bit too repetitive for a full piano arrangement. You could try to vary it up or maybe adding another source. Sounds good so far, keep it up.
  12. New Update! https://app.box.com/s/hj1lwh7pc0kkaz2rcvbo - New (better) piano sample - Piano solo (3:06) - More reverb Comments welcome!
  13. I would say that everything sounds kinda dry and the sequencing is pretty mechanical. The drums (from 0:00 - 0:57) are a bit nervous/all over the place IMO. I like the groove at 2:05 but be careful with the chords, some of them don't seem to fit with the melody: 2:06 A over E7/B, 2:08 E over F7, 2:11 B over C7/A. Here's a suggestion of a chord progression, maybe it fits better?: Amin7 | C7 9 (or C7sus4,13)| FMaj7 9 | E7b13(or Bb713) | Amin7 | G7 13 (or Amin7/G) | F7 9 (or Fmaj7)| E7#9 (b13) | Keep working on it, there are definitely some nice ideas!
  14. Sounds pretty good, very groovy electro (Head nodding foot stomping). The break at 1:41 sounds a bit like it would be the end of the tune IMO. Maybe you could fade-in the lead synth and the chords earlier? Nice work, keep it up bro!
  15. I have to agree with timaeus on the timing/tightness issues. Also, I think that you're speeding up sometimes when you play the leads, 0:27 - 0:29 and 1:13 - 1:16 for example.
  16. Hello there! This is my Solo-Piano version of Zelda's Lullaby from Ocarina Of Time. https://app.box.com/s/a5qjvn6dtknn2s6qgn38 Source: http://youtu.be/_qPtuOfQbyI Good enough for Mod Review?
  17. I think the arrangement has a better flow now. In my opinion, the synth stuff at 1:45 (-2:20) is a bit too loud and busy and doesn't really blend with the piano. 1:06 – 1:08 is a bit bare. There should be something that fills out that gap, at least a reverse crash or something like that. Or you could go directly into the groove at 1:09 without the gap between 1:06 and 1:09, if you know what I mean. And you might also add a crash hit when the beat kicks in at 1:09.
  18. I like the source, nice and jazzy. As for the remix: I think there are some volume balance issues. The drums are too loud in comparison to everything else and when the drums don't play, everything is a bit too quiet. 0:36 - 1:23 sounds nice but it's too quiet. Also the transitions ar all too abrupt, 1:36 was cool but it came out of nowhere. I'd say the arrangement needs work in terms of structure and volume levels. But there are some nice parts so keep working on it, there is some potential.
  19. My favourite part of the arrangement was from 0:00 until about 0:43. It starts out rather quiet and soft, that's nice and I think the first theme could be even quieter. In my opinion, the arrangement doesn't really have a direction right now. I agree with electric concerto that the song needs some change up. Maybe you could use the interlude at 1:07 as a transition into a straight 4/4 time, maybe jazz? And how about a key change somewhere in the song? I think you could also be a bit more adventurous in terms of harmony. Keep it up and I'm looking forward to hear a revised version.
  20. B minor! OMG are you insane? Nah, I'm just kidding . Nice track man! 2:02 - 2:09 and 3:51 - 3:58 sounds a bit odd harmonically, IMO.
  21. Very nice, great playing! In terms of dynamics, I think from the second half (4:09) almost everything is pretty loud which could be a bit tiring for the listener. Overall nice work, congrats.
