  1. How about this? http://youtu.be/9-VWv-6WVmE ( Earthworm Jim)
  2. I agree with jnWake on the sustain pedal issues, sometimes the notes of the chords are too short. 0:42 sounds fine to me (Did you mean the Ab7 at 0:44 jn?) but 1:01 sounds wrong. Other than that it sounds nice. From my perspective you don't necessarily have to add other instruments, I think there’s nothing wrong with a solo-piano rendition.
  3. Thanks for the feedback Timaeus! Yeah I know, the samples . Do you think I should get better samples or is it possible to "pimp up" my samples to make them sound better? As for the EP, I think I could try to use the EP sounds from my Digital Piano. The phaser comes from the organ that plays during the intro. I might fade out the organ a bit earlier. Ok, I'll give it a try. Yes, the piano plays in octaves.
  4. It has been a while since i last updated this track, but i finally managed to post an improved version. https://app.box.com/s/pchk70uoik0dtno1f0ow Feedback welcome!
  5. I think the instrument at 0:38 which plays the theme, is too indistinct and muffled, I can barely hear the melody. I would suggest to either boost the high frequencies a bit, or use an other sample. The track is also very short and there is no ending, it just stops. Needs more work IMO.
  6. Yep, that organ sounds strange, and it’s a bit loud. Maybe it’s just me, but for some reason the kick drum sound bothers me a bit. Did you layer the kick? The transition at 1:51 could be a bit smoother IMO. Other than that, nice work. Keep it up!
  7. It’s a nice and fun remix, all the tunes are fitting well together and i like the little variations on the themes. The drums are pretty repetitive most of the time. It’s basically always the same beat, except for 1:23 – 1:31. What’s up with that synth at 1:31? First it’s very loud but then suddenly it gets very quiet.
  8. I agree with SparkTunez, the songs are very close to the source tunes. The combination of the SMB1 and 2 theme at 1:56 doesn't work IMO. Keep working on it!
  9. Here are some thoughts: The main theme is basically just a 3-note riff but i think you managed to keep the song interesting by changing and adding stuff, good job on that! I find the track sounds pretty dry and a bit empty in places. That synth at 2:14 is a bit loud and exposed, and some notes seem to be off-key ( 2:31, 2:39). In my opinion the part from 4:18 - 5:15 (with the new drums) sounds best, i like how it builds up. At 5:15: I think you could keep going with the new drums (but add the Bassdrum on every quarternote?) instead of changing back to the old drums. (Sorry if my english is a bit strange)
  10. Oops! Maybe i should have learned what chiptune really means before posting my track ha,ha:tomatoface:. Honestly, it wasn't my intention to sound authentic, my goal was just to create a song which is entirely made of NES sounds, but without all the limitations of the NES soundchip. I want to talk about some things you've mentioned: The squares (chords): You're right, i used a high cut to round off the high end. The leads: Yep, I layered the lead with an other sound and the main lead plays octaves. later in the song there is even an additional third lead voice which plays in fourths. Noise channels: I used at least 4 noise channels for drums and percussion. So how should i classify my song? 9-bit or fakebit? And is there even a difference? Thanks a lot for your informative comment PH!
  11. Hello, This is my first original Chiptune(?) Song: http://tindeck.com/listen/metw Comments and feedback welcome.
  12. This is a really nice arrangement! The samples you've used sound very good(and the guitar sounds good too). Since it's jazz, I think it would also be great to hear this played by a live band. Some nitpicking: (I used your soundcloud link to check the song) I personally find it a bit strange that the trumpet plays (mostly) short notes at the beginning of the theme( 0:20) and then later it plays long notes (0:28 ). I would suggest to play long notes from the beginning. The dom7 chord at 1:15 and 2:13 is a bit plain for my taste. How about a Dom7 sus4 chord instead? There are a few disharmonic sounds at 2:00 and 2:09. It sounds a bit like a major and a minor third played at the same time. All in all very nice work! Keep it up
  13. But you can count 15 quarter notes throughout the whole thing. It actually works, but it's a bit tricky. At the second half of the piece (00:3) your quarter note will be on the off beat for a few bars. The last 3 bars are back on the beat.
  14. Nice thread. I'd like to join. Here is the password music from Mega Man X2 http://youtu.be/0L3EmxWPsWk I'm pretty sure it's in 15/4.
  15. Thanks BlitzChris! It's supposed to be an electric bass.
  16. That's a funny remix, I dig it! Cool idea with the Vocals/Lyrics. I found the bass in the intro at 00:11-00:15 + 00:27-00:30 a bit indistinct. The key change at 2:11 is nice.
  17. Thanks for the Feedback G-Mixer! I think I used a bit too much quantization. I will most likely re-record some of the instruments, without quantization (if possible). That "synth" is actually supposed to be a guitar.
  18. You are not alone! The exact same thing happens to me sometimes! I think the scent doesn't come from the NES itself, at least not in my case. Maybe it has something to do with bacteria in my mouth, i dunno. That's funny, I was thinking about to start a threat like yours.
  19. Thanks a lot for the feedback Brandon! Yeah I know, mixing and production are probably my biggest weaknesses. But I'm working on it.
  20. Yeah, that's also a possibility, of course. The organ solo at 3:31 was played live (midi), but I've adjusted a few notes afterwards. Thank you for the feedback and advice.
  21. Honestly, I think most of your instruments are panned too hard to one side (leads, snare, hihat, strings). It's probably not the best idea to pan the kick and bass. They should be in the center IMO. Piano sounds better now. I also noticed that the drums have more variation which is nice.
  22. Thanks for the feedback guys! Yes I agree, adding live Instruments would make it sound better. Unfortunately I don't have any experience nor the equipment to record live Instruments. The only thing I could do is to play in the piano and organ parts with my Roland Digital Piano. @Theory of N: I can see your point about the 16 bar progression being repeated. Maybe the main theme is playing a bit too often. I think i could cut out a whole A-section. I might also shorten the part from 2:00. Adding another source is also an option (Timaeus). By the way, is the B-section at 3:12 recognizable?
  23. Here is my Remix of Flower Garden from the SNES game Yoshi's Island: http://tindeck.com/listen/kuab (Tindeck) https://www.box.com/s/leixsotn9odscmkk7vci (Box) Source: http://youtu.be/6afS8Hwfx3g Let me know what you think, feedback welcome.
  24. I find the 5/4 part at 1:21 is pretty cool, it just comes too sudden. And the low toms are a bit distracting IMO. I think the part from 1:06 - 1:18 could be longer. I have an idea for the Intro: How about beginning the song with the bass and piano + Hihat from 0:54 - 1:06?
  25. Nice work! I really like those new kicks, especially the one at 1:44, great! The synth solo towards the end is also nice. keep it up!
