OCR02512 - Mega Man 9 "Concrete Heart"
Black_Doom replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
So we have one talanted man and another talanted man. What is their collaboration like? It's a very enjoyable mix that can soften even the most concrete heart in the world. Excellent! -
OCR02363 - Cave Story "The Unbroken"
Black_Doom replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Dat gorgeous intro. This is probably the best remix of the final boss theme ever. The original is also the best final boss theme ever. But Justin nailed this mix with soaring orchestral elements, killer D'n'B grove and very smart minimalistic vocals. It feels so sorrowful and desperate! -

Um, I was actally talking about another comeback of someone who is very good at "Te fvafsthesd ting alaiv" This is a big hint, I think -
OCR01816 - Mega Man 3 "Magnet Missiles"
Black_Doom replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Right from the opening chords I knew this would kick my ass million times. The first seconds are brutal as hell. But when agressive guitar vanished, and brass broke into, I actually had eargasm. It put a smile on my face. I couldn't imagine ska as style for Magnet Man's ReMix, but it works here. You made my day, guys. -
OCR02853 - Shadow Warrior "Wang. You Want?"
Black_Doom replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
It's always good when some chinese/japanese/ethnic instrumentation is blended with something modern, like dubstep. The buidup is just very cool. But when it picks up, I was shocked how badass this sounds. Plenty of variety here with all that hard-hitting dubstep elements, ethreal ethnic drops and some marching drums for good measure. More wang, please! -
OCR02542 - Donkey Kong Country 3 (SNES) "Epic Bananas"
Black_Doom replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Oh shit, these bananas are really epic. This is one of the best tracks from the album. The melody here is so damn catchy. Such powerful flow! Sweeeeeeet blend of orchestra, electronic and even some rock. Greg is great. -
OCR03027 - Sonic CD (JP) 'Chips out of Water'
Black_Doom replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Quite awesome thing. Maybe it doesn't flow very smoothly, but it's a very enjoyable arrangement with all that piano, bass, percussive elements and some chippy goodness. Very refreshing take on the original. BTW, love how Bev hides cameos here and there in some of her works -

OCR02158 - Super Meat Boy "Spoiled R0TT3N"
Black_Doom replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Ben, you're amazing! There's funk. Every little second is overfilled with funky goodness. The moment at 1:00 when it drops and becomes less funky and more chippy is freakin' awesome. But the whole thing is very pleasant too with all the crazy solos and catchy beats. -

I contacted him via Soundcloud some weeks ago and he agreed. I could not miss inviting him. So yeah, this is cool -

I actaully removed the title, so we can think about it more. Oh, damn, that's definitely cool. -
OCR03022 - Final Fantasy VI 'The Nightmare Oath'
Black_Doom replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This track shows once again that B&R is one of the best albums by OCR. It's not as long as "Impresaro", sure, but it's still awesome with all that vocals and guitar and brass. Very dramatic and simply badass. -
OCR02099 - Silent Line: Armored Core "Morning, Thinker"
Black_Doom replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Damn, I wasn't prepared for this one. I didn't expect to hear rock stuff from AnSo. Kudos for such an awesome catchy piece. The energetic flow is just very strong. And of course, I should mention lyrics. Cheesy lyrics like here always stuck in your head, so I'm a thinker, I coud break break it down... Lol. Sweet tune. -
OCR02669 - Final Fantasy XII "The Drum of Basswall"
Black_Doom replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Some percussion sounds as if an orchestra is playing in canteen with all the forks and spoons and other dishes O_o Actually, this is cool. The variety of percussion is incredible, so it always keeps your attention. Other sounds also add some ambiance for good measure. Very moody debut. It feels like you're visiting some kind of ancient tomb. -
This is genre chimera, sure. But it's actually a very beautiful chimera. This track never repeats even for a second, which is quite nice. With great ammount of funk, glitching effects and super tasty vocal clips, which set the right upbeat, head-bopping mood of this track, this is my favorite from Sir J.

OCR02023 - Final Fantasy VIII "Shine Tonight"
Black_Doom replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This song transforms even my most shitty day into something more bearable. Nice glithcing effect all around. Vocals are so pretty, but chorus is most epic. Especially when they sing "Shine toniiight". I almost cry. Sweet tune. -
OCR01694 - Final Fantasy VII "Adrenalyne Kyck"
Black_Doom replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This actually one of my favorites from VotL. The build-up here is just perfect and the whole song is pretty much varied. From time to time a new instrument jumps into and each time atmosphere becomes heavier and heavier. And suddenly Larry's voice breaks into. This moment is especially good. Then it drops for a few seconds and then comes my most favorite section. I like it most of all because of the damn emotive strings. Serious work. -
OCR02150 - Return All Robots! "Quicksilver"
Black_Doom replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Wow, such sliiiick mix here. This is seriously deep freeze. I especially feel some coolness during the intro and other moments like intro. RW created awesome atmosphere here with that beat and piano and synths ang other stuff. So much chill. -

Cool. It's actually nice to give some love to Sonic music of this millenium (and Sonic Adventure). We have only 7 claimed tracks from games from this category.
