  1. I'd be happy to help out as a performer if needed (trumpet, flugelhorn, melodica, tin whistle) I may get a wild hair and claim a track later but at the moment, nothing is jumping out at me.
  2. No worries! I'm glad to see everyone so focused on doing it RIGHT. Thanks for all the hard work! I just had to ask the question ;-P
  3. Do we have a firm release date set yet? We're getting to that part of year where holiday plans start to dominate everyone's schedule!
  4. Fair points all around. When i get back home I'll do some experimenting with the arrangement . Id like to build toward a very dark, noir type feeling . Ill also make sure i upload an mp3 with more definition. Thanks all for the comments and feedback. I appreciate it!
  5. Thanks for the info guys. I'm traveling right now but I 'll try to make the recording more accessible! Its not a huge deal. While having comments would be great. I originally put this together intending to do a straight cover but as i had a few ideas I thought it was worth putting up here to see how hard it'd be to get into OCR worthy shape. Thanks !
  6. Hey everyone, About a week ago a friend of mine that plays bass asked me to record a duet of To Zanarkand with him on trumpet. Rather than just transcribe the piano part I thought it'd be cool to change it up a bit and see if we could put a Remix together. The end result is a pretty fairly conservative arrangment with some stylistic variations (mostly in the bass part) intended to give the feeling of walking through various areas of a ruined city. I have a first draft that I'm pretty happy with, and now would like some feedback on the arrangement. What can I do to make it better? All I have right now is a midi and sheet music. Once the arrangement is finalized we will record it live. Thanks for your help! Midi and score are both here: Midi and Score Source : To Zanarkand - Final Fantasy X EDIT:. Hmm over a hundred views but no replies.. just checking but are people not able to get to the files?
  7. Oh wow several familiar names from the days of yore. I was here under the name NintendoAce starting in '02ish (ahhh 14 year old me's boundless creativity...). I was always more of a lurker though. My posts were few and far between. Nice to see that there are a number of people still around from so many years ago.
  8. Hey everyone, So the unfortunate (or perhaps fortunate for someone) reality is that I have gotten incredibly busy, and I will not be able to give my track the time or attention it deserves/requires in the near future. However, I really don't want to see it die. Not meaning to toot my own horn here at all, but I think it's a unique and fun take on the theme that is really worth exploring. If possible I'd like to hand it off to someone who would be willing to take what I have done, build on it, and finish it. My sales pitch/about the track I rewrote Drachma's theme pretty liberally as a Korean indie/folk/pop song in the style of the group OKDAL, with a trumpet as the lead. It has a light-hearted, lazy flow to it. The idea was that it was a soundtrack for drachma's nostalgic, rose-colored memories of sailing the skies with his family before they were killed. To that end, the title is "Better Days" or if you prefer the nod to it's Korean-Indie inspiration "더 좋은 날" (Better Days). I have done the arrangement and written a score of it. I have midi files as well. The initial feedback I received was that the arrangement is a little thin in a couple places so there's some room in there for some more writing/additional instrumentation. It is however stylistically simple by definition, so there's not a whole lot more work to do there. I would still be happy to record the trumpet and tin whistle parts for it. Thankfully recording takes very little time, it's production that eats up all my time. The real meat of the work left to be done is production. right now it is just sheet music, and a few raw recordings. If taking over this for me sounds like something anyone would be interested in let me know. I'd be happy to send you what I've done and explain my ideas for it, at which point it is in your hands to add your own creative spin and finish it off as you see fit! I ask only that it be kept in the same general vein as originally intended, and that we credit it as collab. Thanks. Hopefully someone who is looking for more to do will want to give this a go!
  9. The video on reverb is very helpful. I'm still experimenting to figure out how to get the result I'm after. My DAWs options are also a bit different. I happened to listen to this ReMix the other day though and the melody at 3:33 is very much like the kind of sound i'm going for with short notes that "ring" for a while. Any insight into what setting to tweak to get that kind of effect would be helpful. in the meantime I will keep experimenting!
  10. Hey guys, I've made some progress on my track but it has become clear that my production skills are woefully inadequate. I could really use some help. Ive got a finished arrangement and live recordings of some of the parts but pulling it together into a high quality mix is where I'm stuck. If anyone is willing to help, send me a message!
  11. Finally sent in a more legit WIP, and now i can prioritize this so here's to hoping I'lll have a finished track asap. I can do a vocal take or two for garpocalypse's mIx as well this week. How long does it need to be?
  12. Thanks for the info. I'll look into it! Yeah I had basically removed all of the reverb because I didn't like what I was getting with it. I would like for the notes to "ring" more but the reverb I had on it made the the attack echo, which I felt muddied up what I wanted to be a clean sound. I couldn't figure out how to get that "ring" with out hearing the attack on the note echoed multiple times as well.
  13. Hey all, I've hit a road block on a song I've been working on and could use some help. I'm very new to music production, so i'm still figuring it out. I've put together a pretty basic pop song. The issue is mainly the electronic part that starts the song and plays in the background throughout. It seems "Thin" and "empty " to me, and I cannot figure out what to do to get a more full sound. The other parts, Bass, trumpet, and violin will be recorded live. The piano is just a stand in for the vocals. I want to have a kind of lonesome, very simple solitary feel, especially at the beginning as the lyrics of the song are about the transition from a very difficult time in life to a new beginning. So here is a link to what i have at the moment. Suggestions are very welcome! TSoriWIP Thanks! (also just realized there's a lots of static in there. I just need to restart my computer before i export it again, but for the issue at hand its not really necessary. ignore it please)
  14. Thanks! I think SentientPulse and I have it covered for now, but I'll let you know if anything else comes up!
  15. Ok,. I m a bit overwhelmed. Is there anyone out there who could record a piano part for me? It is not difficult at all (pretty basic really), but my skill level on piano is basically I know which notes the keys play lol. Someone with more experience could do a much better recording in a fraction of the time that it will take me. I have a full score for the remix. So i can give anyone who is interested in a collab the score the piano sheets and a midi. The mix is an indie pop/folk arrangement of drachmas theme in the style of the korean Duo, OKDAL. The piano is the backbone of the whole thing so itd be nice to have it done well. Let me know if anyone is interested! Thanks! If anyone is interested, let me know!
  16. Thanks! With the email address updated, i was able to do a password reset and get back in. I appreciate the help!
  17. Not realizing this thread was here, i made a new account (twice over the years) as i o Wanted to change names.. oops. Anyway, Id like too keep my current name and account but is there a way i can get my join date and post counts from my previous accounts (Nintendo_Ace, SciRe) added to this one? Thanks! P.s. i no longer have passwords for those two accounts, they can be deleted entirely.
  18. Sorry to hear you've hit a rough patch DFW. I've done the job loss and financial trouble things a couple times myself. I know just how crappy a situation that can be. I hope things take a turn for the better for you and look forward to seeing you back here once things calm down. Glad to you see you stepping in to keep things going @Modus. I should have a WIP for you in the next two to three weeks, I've finished writing all of the music. I should be able to spend this week practicing, next weekend recording, and the week after that mixing if all goes smoothly. Will probably need another week if there are any hiccups. At any rate, I'll have something ready to be critiqued by the end of the month.
  19. Thanks sounds good! I 'm excited to get this put together! Yes, a collab is what I was going for. I can handle everything but the guitar playing and recording myself if need be, but I'd be happy to collaborate on arrangement , mixing etc with a guitarist as well once I find one.
  20. OK, After reevaluation and repeated listenings of the available tracks, I've decided i CAN claim a track. I would like to tentatively (no wip yet) claim Drachmas theme, which I plan to do in a flamenco style Spanish guitar and trumpet duet. I think can have the arrangement put together in the next few days to a week. Provided I can do that I should be able to record a rough take on the trumpet part next weekend. And I will ask here first before i start hunting. Is there anyone floating around who can record live spanish guitar for me (shouldn't be too terribly difficult)?
  21. I noticed its not on your list, but if you decided you wanted a trumpet player I'd be very interested. I might have some good source tune ideas too.
  22. Thanks! Unfortunately,. I won't have the time for a while to do one from the ground up. I am however quite able and happy to record trumpet parts if anybody needs them. One of the nice parts of the big move was getting to upgrade my studio! So if anybody would like a trumpet player for their ReMix, by all means hit me up. I'd love to help out !
  23. Hey all. Just wanted to jump in here and offer my services as a trumpet player. Ive been playing for 20 years and have high quality setup. Id be glad to lay down some tracks for anyone who can use them.
  24. Apologies to all for my jumping on here ready to go and then falling off the map (got a new job, moved across the country etc.) Anyway im glad to see things are moving along! Looking forward to hearing everything when its finished!
