  1. Hey, Dhsu, would you perhaps like to play the piano in my windfish mix? It wouldn't be jazzy like this, but... I could definitely make mine sound better than it does now, but live is nearly always better.
  2. It's sort of like saying "is it possible to include purely non-electric guitar versions of vocal tracks? I think that would be a neat little bonus for those of us non-electric guitar purists." I guess it's up to the mixers, really, but I for one think there's way too few vocal mixes on the site and in the projects as it is.
  3. I liked the bells after 2:10 and the C64-ish lead at 5:00 or so and a number of small things along the way, but this remix didn't really leave a mark in my mind. I can tell a lot of work has been put into it though. Good job!
  4. Vocal tracks typically don't work that well without vocals. They're written with vocals in mind and if you take them away you get a karaoke version that really feels like it's missing something. What's your problem with vocals anyway? If they're bad I'm sure they won't be allowed on the project.
  5. The big file shouldn't be too small. Thanks for testing!
  6. I will send you a reply tomorrow. Thanks for your interest!
  7. You're welcome to work on any track, even though I'd appreciate it if you picked an "open" one (which you did, so thank you). The project being on hold doesn't mean I'm not accepting new mixers.
  8. Well, it's hard to pinpoint what does it exactly. I think it's a combination of everything. The sloppily played guitar (no offense, I really like it) reminds me a little of Nirvana, and the tempo, the lead guitar, the bell leads and the slowly developing pads in the background all add to the psychedelic haze. It's all very calming. There are parts of the song that don't really fit into this vision I have of knocked out junkies sitting in dirty couches in a foggy room, but most of it does.
  9. Nice voice, man. I'm trying to make stuff similar to this (emotional Mega Man remixes ), but I'm having trouble building up the courage to actually record singing... The mix is really cool overall. I'm not really liking the snare much though. I'd love to see this on OCR, there's way too little high-quality vocal stuff here.
  10. I'd love to hear this, but I can't find it. I clicked the "audio" tab on your website, but I'm not going to install some quicktime plugin to hear your music. Why don't you post a link to an mp3? I saw the video you had there. You're really good!! Nice lederhosen, btw... To anyone else seeing this thread, you should really visit this guy's website. Take my word for it. EDIT: Damnit, I AM going to install some quicktime plugin to hear your music. I'm pretty sure it'll be worth it. I still think you should post an mp3 link to your remix - it's common curtesy around here. I'm sure if people could hear your remix more easily they'd be sure to visit your website as well. EDIT2: Ok, did download the plugin. This is awesome. But the image is Super Mario Galaxy, not Super Mario World (and the music is Super Mario Bros). The tetris song is really in it's right element on the zither. Good job!
  11. I just wanted to say this song has really grown on me. I love it more and more every time I hear it. If I smoked weed I know I'd have this in the background when I did. Thank you, analoq.
  12. You forgot about the ftp I set up, proph, or did it stop working? He could upload it there otherwise...
  13. The original source would do well as a break area. It's in 10/8 and everything.
  14. The original idea was to make a medley (as suggested in the thread title), but I haven't worked on it long enough to flesh it out into distinct parts. I haven't worked on it further, I have an exam this week and shouldn't even have begun working on it, but I couldn't resist... I haven't really been trained as a composer that much, I've been in choir school for 9 years and picked things up from songs we've sung. I made my first midi in 1993 and haven't really improved since... too many interests
  15. Wow, this is cool. I have the say the brass stands out a bit, but it's fun too. And very nicely played.
  16. Try using different velocities with it, it develops wonderfully. I'd show you a really nice orchestral piece I made using it, but I don't have access to it right this moment. EDIT: Found it.
  17. Thanks for your kind words, everyone. I do agree repetitiveness is an issue, but it's easy to slip into a copy&paste habit when you're making music on the computer. The French horn you're hearing is Florestan's French horn soundfont. I think Darkesword may have it on his homepage, otherwise I'm sure a quick google search will find it for you.
  18. Here's a super unpolished wip. It sounds like crap. Some may like it anyway, some may even have suggestions on how to make it sound less like crap. These people are welcome to share their suggestions right here in this thread. Any comment, suggestion or not, is welcome, of course.
  19. Was my question on the top of this page overlooked, or did I overlook the answer?
  20. The torrent tab looks odd. http://www.ocremix.org/torrents/ The speed doesn't look too great either, at least for most of these. And when is the 1000-1800 torrent launched? EDIT: I noticed the "lyrics" tab on remix pages doesn't have the grey border around it.
