  1. Aw. I was actually thinking of doing something like that. But it wouldn't exactly be original anyway.
  2. My theory is that they're just stalling, since they're scratching around for updates as it is. That's five updates on the save screen ("You can save your data in this game!") that we don't have to put up with.
  3. Ah well. Lesson learned, I suppose. Hopefully it'll run okay on my PC, otherwise, I guess I'll need to invest in upgrading it. I'm pretty sure the main culprit there will be my RAM... I have to wonder when they'll start supporting USB keyboard/mouse support in console games. All three systems support keyboards already, I think, so a mouse wouldn't be too big a stretch, I'd imagine. Except maybe for the Wii, but I'm a huge fan of using the Wiimote for FPSes anyway.
  4. So, I got the Orange Box today at retail for PC. I've heard lots of good things about Portal in particular - it seemed to be my kind of thing. Also, I figure, why not let this be the step to get me back into PC gaming, which I abandoned years ago, for reasons I could not recall. I mean, I didn't pick my laptop out to be a gaming rig, but it had all the necessary specs to run the program (although not the recommended video card), so what could possibly go wrong, right? Ha. Imagine my frustration when the game totally stopped responding sixty seconds into the game, that is, when I first stepped through a Portal. Research on The Google dug up this thread, along with other. Apparently the integrated Intel 945gm chipset just... doesn't work with most of The Orange Box. However, there's a handy fix on this page, right? Well. Sort of. I got to exercise 14 in the game before it decided to slow down to a nice 2 frames per second, because apparently I'm not allowed to place portals too far away from each other before the game goes wacko. Ugh. The obvious solution would be for me to shell out the cash money dollar bills to outfit my desktop PC (which hasn't been upgraded since 2003, maybe) to play these games. But, honestly, by the time I've spent that much money, I could have just bought a 360 or PS3, which is guaranteed to play any game on the system perfectly. Now, particularly in this community, I'm sure there are a lot of you who'll balk at this stance. So, really, what is the point of gaming on a computer? Aside from the games which are exclusive to the PC platform, why would you invest in PC gaming?
  5. By the way, I dunno what the real name for this game is... I don't suppose anyone else knows anything about it?
  6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIXRgppi04M Wow. Just wow. Four remixed Mario levels, redesigned to properly demonstrate why Japan is one of the Top Ten Countries with the highest suicide rate. (Check the YouTube user page for that video to see the other levels.) Should you want to try it yourself (I did, if just because of the Cheetahmen music), go here: http://www.geocities.jp/z_gundam_tanosii/home/Main.html It's the top link. Good luck, all. I got halfway through the second level before I broke into tears. (And then decided to watch the rest of the videos instead of playing it myself.)
  7. Are they going to include any original tracks in the game as well? I want to say that I heard something along those lines, but I may be mistaken. If so, they could easily have a lot of music in this game, just by copy-pasting classic tunes that didn't get the remix treatment.
  8. 1am in the Central Time Zone, so Merry Christmas all! Now I should hit the sack, since the rest of my family won't be able to resist waking up early to open presents. I'd be fine waiting if it meant a couple extra hours of sleep, but... ah well.
  9. Woo. I will accept this Christmas gift of the Angel Island Zone theme. Also. Knuckles confirmed?!?! Heh.
  10. Dude, guys. It's hard to believe that this song has been on OCR for five years now. I remember it was the second to really grab my attention to this site, after SuperBuckJazz. Anyway, it's just as awesome as ever.
  11. Not having any more freedom than 45-degree intervals was too frustrating for me. Actually, I don't think the touch screen controls would have been too bad, if the circle which emulated an analog stick on the touch screen wasn't able to be moved partially off-screen. There's no reason I should ever be touching the rightmost portion of the touchscreen and not be moving right.
  12. Haha, this is some fun stuff. Thanks everyone who was involved in putting this together.
  13. I'd disagree. Unless they find a better way to control a 3D Mario game with a stylus than they did with SM64 DS. I always try to play the game when I'm home for a holiday and have access to my brother's DS games. And it's always frustrating. :'( Now, New Super Mario Bros. 2 would be swell. Perhaps with a more "open" overworld map, like SMB3. And without the gimmicky OMG TOUCH THE SCREEN FOR YOUR EXTRA ITEM. Because I like to think we're past the point where every DS game has to use the Touch Screen, even if it's not the most effective method of control.
  14. lol 'Sad that my first reaction to anyone suggesting DLC from Nintendo is laughter. I really hope Wii Ware makes me a believer, though...
  15. I'd like to see Kirby gaining analogs of all of a copied opponent's special moves, rather than just the stationary special move. I think that'd make him a more interesting character to play as, and against.
  16. This picture will take the internet by storm.
  17. I hope Sam and Max come to Wii Ware. I've never played any of their games, but from that video it looks like something I'd enjoy. Hmm... let's see. People often point to Donkey Kong as the first game with a story. And, of course, we can always point to the first video game ever, except apparently that honor is up for grabs. I had always thought it was Spacewar! personally.
  18. You're right... perhaps they decided to retcon the translation? Since he's supposed to be a Pig King and all. Not that it matters what the official translation is, because they'll never actually officially translate a Mother game for us.
  19. I'd like to see Pester Balls work like the Mini (Poison?) 'Shroom or the faulty Hammer. They'd look pretty similar to the real thing, but once you pick it up it explodes and stuns you for a few moments.
  20. I always thought it'd be neat as a bonus feature for Smash Bros if they had modes where you could play as the Smash cast in versions of the games these characters hailed, when those games lend to it. What I mean is, design "Pokemon" characters for Mario, Link, Pit, etc. and let them fight each other and the Smash Pokemon in a turn-based Pokemon-style battle. Also, perhaps a truncated version of Super Mario that you can play as Sonic or Zelda in. Not like the cheesy opening level to Melee's Adventure, but an actual 2D Mario game. I dunno. That idea sounded really cool when I was 15 and waiting for Melee to come out, anyway.
  21. Ness needs a whole new moveset, anyway. For example, moves that he could actually use in Mother 2 would be nice. All the regular attacks could be the same, but for his specials, I'd think... Stationary Special: PSI Flash (same as always) Up Special: PSI Teleport (like Farore's Wind) Down Special: Shield Beta (a physical counter similar to Marth/Roy) Over Special: PSI Paralysis or Hypnosis (similar to Jiggly's Lullabye) Final Smash: PSI Rockin (full-screen damaging attack) Huh. Now that I think about it, I guess this is why he borrowed his moveset from Paula and Poo... Ness's PSI powers were always boring, except for PSI Rockin.
  22. Mario Circuit. Huh. I'd like to see characters other than Shy Guys in the Karts, but I suppose they're all busy brawling, so to speak?
  23. Because then there's 50% less clicking to do when reading through a 10000 post thread. Or even a 100 post one. Also, 40?
  24. Four T Seven I can't imagine this would be easily adaptable to Smash's engine. At least, it wouldn't have been easily adaptable in Melee... maybe Brawl could have more gravity-bending levels, though.
