  1. Thinking of submitting this version of the piece or something close to it. However I'm not 100% sold on a few things. For one I need to actually go back and fix what I'm sure are areas that have clipping near the end. Secondly, I think the cello could use a bit more touching up as well as some more harmonic spice in the middle. Besides that just not sure if its completely enough as is arrangement wise. But still thinking about it
  2. Hmm I never played the original and I'm not so sure I wanna play this crisis core either. I dunno, just haven't been a big fan of the extended FFVII content really. I'll just wait for the next remake ☺️
  3. It's dancing time ?~. Thanks for the fun song Timaeus!
  4. I was going to let APZX choose anyway!
  5. Right. I apply to the round after this.
  6. Woot woot this was so fun everyone! @APZXyou need to sub that song!!!
  7. Thank you for your wonderful comment! Concerning the two different pieces, it's kinda where I'm going with it. I don't wanna reveal the name yet but it's a play on a more angelic though somber side and an intense, sinister side. I definitely have a lot of work helping those two sides meet but it's (hopefully) the last piece in a set of pieces I've done that have two sides to them. Still, maybe as I begin to build the second half more, I'll come to the conclusion that it's too intense haha. But honestly, I like how relentless it sounds! Maybe I need more power in the first half to compensate ?. I don't know yet! Need to get to the end first. As far as the lack of melody in part two. It's just not written in yet though I'm hoping it takes more of a harmonic, though still present role when I do write it in.
  8. I never knew Chimpazilla could be so spoopy (つд⊂)
  9. Forgot to write it in my little spooky story but the source is The Nightmare Begins from FFVII
  10. What a collaboration! I think this track really hit the feel of Serahs theme on the head. Sometimes I felt it didn't sound big enough but I think that's because I have the ending suite in my head and that has such a massive sound. But when I focus on the track as it is, I really enjoy the intimacy. Shout outs to the whole crew who worked on this and for Jorito for bringing everyone together. Cheers y'all. Edit: lol same time post! The track must have some power to it.
  11. Done my first piece. Shooting for another.
  12. I'm both turbo sad I missed out but also turbo excited to hear all the beautiful works here! Omggg you guys it's happening!
  13. Is this your sub for this month? If so Ill save my comments for then!
  14. Is "The Successor" from FFVIII Halloween enough? Seeing as it's about the succession of witches. Well, sorceresses.
  15. After working through it some more I think this will probably be the final submitted version. Need some more time to think on it and listen but I'm 99% satisfied https://drive.google.com/file/d/1P3oEVCuV0VYvJ6iMMw6qTGxa2Siokbgy/view?usp=sharing
  16. @Hemophiliac just in case you did want to hear the original. Sorry I should have added it for context (if you want haha). https://drive.google.com/file/d/19rIH7Zj_3bP0ROtASzV75e9UHQa_6wWx/view?usp=drivesdk
  17. Hello, back again after going through the submission process and having it sent back fro resubmission. A lot has changed based on judge feedback. The percussion is reworked, the clipping issues have all been solved, some rebalancing done, and a new bassline. Other new additions have also been made, primarily a new vox in the middle and choir at the end. I'm on the fence about some things but I think I need a new voice (or two) for perspective! Thanks for helping as always. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ANhsfBOceY_ZcAMzc6bSl2GDTMRHAiBk/view?usp=drivesdk
  18. I keep thinking something original but I forget about all the choices haha. Ghost Train might be a nice one. I'm going to look for some midis from tv shows or movies first.
  19. I don't know how to be spoopy ?
  20. Woot woot, I'll give it some thought. Good job guys
  21. I do actually! I have evolution infinity and amplitude which I use together. But... I really.... really suck at making the music I can hear in my head ??. Partially because I'm terrible at playing the keyboard but also I don't understand how to make the sounds I like. Been thinking though that now I'm back from a long break, I should try and get better at it.
  22. Hoboka, are you being spooky again ??
  23. I was kinda surprised I never made a thread for this. That or my eyesight is going faster than I thought haha. Anyway, I posted this to my YT channel awhile ago but decided I wanted to make it a full remix. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1B9EDR11_BR6nPnTZo01WXe036wcWe68I/view?usp=drivesdk Nowhere near done yet. The transition is an outline and so is the beginning of the second half. Mostly I'm trying to find a way to really blow the roof off that transition but haven't had time to experiment enough. But definitely am digging sort of flipping the tonality both chordally using the bass guitar and adding a serious dark militant vibe to it. Main theme is sort of light and shadow. Sort of similar to my first ocremix I guess. Anyway, I'll post more when I get to it. Edit: New review post at the bottom. Probably very close to the finished product.
  24. Honestly I would not pick pro tools now thinking back on it. All for the same reasons you brought up. Probably would use Cubase I think. If I was a Mac user I'd use Logic haha. I think the reason Spitfire libraries appeal to me is their almost synthetic sound. They have a few that are more raw and dry sounding (it's why I use chamber as well) but I love that signature sound they have. Goes well with what I like to do too. And honestly I'm not someone who ever uses live performers so the library matters much more to me. The difference between your mock-up and live is night and day though! Anyway, Ben, I hope you find some knowledge here and I definitely support whatever direction you choose to go! I say start cheap, definitely get your DAW and preferably Kontakt as well and go from there.
  25. I don't know a lot about FL studio and it's limitations in that regard! Thank you Jorito for coming and helping >_<. I actually use Pro Tools because it has a sheet music function (albeit...shoddy lol). Sometimes I just need to see the notes and do the durations that way and then mess with the midi afterwards. Also just to put it out there personally for orchestral things my workhorses are Spitfire Symphonic Strings Spitfire Chamber Strings Spitfire Symphonic Woods Cinebrass Core 8dio Majestica I have many others because I made poor financial choices but for orchestral things, these I always find myself reaching for in one way or another. Others I like to use time to time. Metropolis Ark 1 and 4 Nucleus Albion One Albion Tundra Other than that, my personal style makes me lean more towards synthy stuff, choirs, vocals, and the like. I wish I could make orchestral arrangements like you BenEmberly!
