  1. Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka creeped the hell out of me and gave me nightmares. I think that image of him as the Mad Hatter is going to do the same.
  2. Sorry for taking so long to respond. I forgot that I'll be in northern Virgina all day Saturday, so I won't be able to make it.
  3. I haven't been to a live concert in a while and this one looks fun. I'll probably go.
  4. Also, make sure you don't develop bad playing habits in the beginning. I've known quite a few people who never learned some of the basics properly and while it doesn't hamper them when they're still beginners it starts to when they want to get into more advanced things. It's a lot harder to break bad habits and learn new ones then it is to learn the correct ones in the first place. As my old piano teacher used to tell me, practice makes permanent, perfect practice makes perfect.
  5. ::drool:: How are you liking that PC3? I have a PC2X and I'd really like to sell it and pick up a PC3X... if I ever get enough cash...
  6. I do that with the volume on my TV or car stereo, yeah, I'm a little OCD about some things. Probably not an issue if you just doing ballpark settings, but if you're trying to tweak and fine tune things, probably not so good.
  7. Also, if Garageband handles recording like Logic does (which I'm pretty sure it does) then the recording will be clean (assuming there is no processing prior to the Duet) and all effects on the track processed in real time.
  8. No, I don't listen to music when I'm sleeping in my cube. That's just bad form.
  9. Congrats you two! Here's to a long, happy marriage.
  10. I'm an album person. I rarely make play lists to listen to. Hell sometimes I'll just be listening to an album on my ipod and before I know it I've listened to it 3 or 4 times straight... as a matter of fact, I'm doing that right now.
  11. Damn, Crichton was my favorite writer. I've read pretty much every single one of his books (well, the fiction ones at least). So sad right now, and I was so looking forward to whatever his next book might have been. So the only living author who I enjoying reading now is Dan Brown... Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Robert Ludlum died back in 2001...
  12. Jesus I suck picking against the spread... Good think I don't really enjoy betting on games...

    Fable 2

If you haven't bought the game yet, you can get a free $15 itunes card with it if you buy it from Circuit City... and if you're lucky they'll give you a random $15 discount on top of that. Man I love unexpected (and most likely accidental) discounts. Now only if work was over...
  14. No, a rhombus is clearly superior to a triangle...
  15. I agree with what's above. Unless you need the portability or really want it, you'll get a much better bang for you buck with a desktop system. As for Mac or PC/which software to run, that's all a matter of preference. In the end they'll all do the same things (maybe is slightly different ways) and they'll all eventually get you the same results.
  16. I'm not a huge fan of Guitar Center. Every time I go in there the sales people always try to get me to by things I don't need/want. Just leave me alone and let me play with your gear on display in peace. And no, I don't want that ridiculously over price Monster cable that you claim I NEED if I want anything I do to sound decent...
  17. I haven't bought Madden 09. I didn't see a whole lot that made me think that it was 60 bucks better than 08 (which I haven't played in months...). I'll probably wait until next years or the year after till I buy another one. NHL 09 on the other hand... that game should be the shit. I was actually expecting to see more posts like this in this thread...
  18. Waaaay to many monitors for my liking, but whatever floats your boat.
  19. Actually, I recorded two thank you. And the one I linked to was one of the ones I recorded...
  20. My company uses this to record our podcasts. Pretty decent results, and everything is recorded into Goldwave (which is free). I don't normally do the recordings, but I have to fill in from time to time. Here is one I recorded at the beginning of August for a reference of what this setup sounds like. http://dynamic.firehouse.com/broadcast/2008/08/13/firehouse-magazine-insider-august-2008/
  21. Speaking of that track "The Battle" from the Gladiator soundtrack, Zimmer was sued by the Holst Foundation for copyright infringement because parts of it are quite similar to "Mars, the Bringer of War" from Holst's suite "The Planets". I still think that both instances could be from film makers using temp scores and wanting something similar to the music they had in there. I think the POTC theme has a similar feel to it as the clip above, but I think it's far from a rip of it. And even so, Zimmer worked on both, I don't think anyone is going to get mad at you for ripping from yourself.
  22. Those are some very good results... and I love that song.
  23. The only companies I can think of that make PCI-e audio cards are MOTU, RME and DigiDesign (for PTHD rigs). In the price range you're looking at you pretty much going to have to go for a firewire interface.
  24. Unless Echo's website is out of date, that interface won't work with a Mac Pro. You need a USB, Firewire or PCI-E interface. The Echo 3G uses a PCI/PCI-X, which is NOT compatible with PCI-E.
