I don't have a problem with the SD3 source in terms of eligibility. There's a distinct sound to it; it's short and repetitive but it's recognizably unique. My issue is not with the source tune but with the extremely liberal take on that source tune. For shorter "jingles" like these, there's less material to work with, so straying from that material is way easier to do. I think we should continue to handle these things on a case-by-case basis. In this case, the source tune is fine; the remix is not.

Those songs are always treated as the same during the draft. It's impossible for both of those songs to be in the competition at the same time.

Why are you talking about "need?" I want a black one at launch. I want to play the new Mario game and Nintendoland when they come out. I'm disappointed that all the pre-orders at major retailers are sold out. I was hoping to avoid having to line up at Target again at 4 in the morning like I did when the Wii came out. It looks like that's what I'm going to be doing.

Source usage SHOULD trump production. That is the main criteria people should be considering when voting.

Don't forget to vote people. Voting closes on SATURDAY at 2PM EDT. I don't want to hear people whining about how their vote isn't counted because they voted at 2:05PM. In other news I got permission from the Nana artist to use her image. She is also a fan of OCR apparently, which is cool.

Search around for "hooge" fonts. Those are the pixel fonts I use. Make sure you turn off any kind of smoothing in Photoshop, and use the right font size so that you don't get weird lumpy resizing. Concerning the Nana art, I've put a link to the artist's DeviantArt in the first post underneath the badges, and I've also sent her a message on DA asking her if it's alright that we use her artwork of Nana. If she comes back and says "no," I'll change the neutral badge to another character with official art if I can't find good official art of Nana. Anyway, back to the tournament.

Oh also before I forget, I'm really impressed with this first round of remixes. Great job guys.

I think the musical notes look really bad in your sig design. Also your text looks like it's using font smoothing but you're trying to use pixel fonts. They end up blurry. Look at the badges; all the text is clear, sharp pixel fonts with very little in terms of effects. Don't use serifed fonts either. Using so many blending options on fonts like for the remixer's name doesn't look good either. I don't know why anyone uses embossed text anymore. Don't go overboard with that kind of stuff. Also there are jpeg artifacts all over the maverick official art. City backgrounds don't look good either; there's a little too much noise on top of them too. Don't put a one pixel black border around the sig either; put a white one pixel border that's one pixel inside the border and change the layer from Normal to Overlay, Screen, or Soft Light. Nana's badge is the bracket-neutral badge for the entire tournament. There will probably be one more badge for the final round but I didn't decide who I want it to be yet.

Please make your thread titles something that actually has to do with the topic, not just a vague feeling like 'curious.'
