  1. I agree. Sending a tribute video with video game footage, while thoughtful, may not be quite as touching or meaningful to his family. Perhaps flowers or something more traditional with a note saying something like: "While few of us ever had the pleasure of speaking with him, we have all been touched by his beautiful music. You are all in our prayers." Actually, in addition to that, we should send a nice, high-quality CD of all his music that we can find. It's possible has family hasn't heard a lot of it. That could be infinitely more meaningful than flowers.
  2. Awful news. He'll be missed around here. It's always so tragic to see such a talented person go so young.
  3. Here's two tracks to start things off. I'd really love it if we could get a full christmas remix album going. Purity Carol of the Bells
  4. You know what else makes this game great? Zero loading times. Not one load screen.
  5. If anyone is having hardware problems, EA has a really great warranty replacement deal. Take advantage of it. http://support.ea.com/rockband
  6. And now it's time we started making our DLC wishlists. Top of my list: Tenacious D's "Pick of Destiny" soundtrack/album. Followed by Portal's "Still Alive."
  7. A couple I did for a short-lived Christmas remix project last year. The first is a remix of a tune from an old animated film called "The Snowman." Purity Carol of the Bells
  8. The drums have felt a bit finicky to me at times. I don't think it's the calibration like I assumed at first. It just feels like every 20th hit or so, a hit won't register properly. Annoying, but no biggie if you can get a group together to play. You'll have too much fun to notice.
  9. Sometimes I wonder if my calibration is off slightly. Every now and then it makes me miss a note when I know I hit the sucker. Guess I'll adjust.
  10. CONFIRMATION: Rock Band is awesome.
  11. I kinda wish that when guards were alerted out in the free-roam Kingdom, you could make the alert level drop just by running off. I galloped a mile away from the scene where my pursuers have no chance of finding me, but I have to dismount and dive into a nearby haybale to lose them? Otherwise, awesome game. Loving it.
  12. Good to hear that before I considered buying. Rock Band will be hurting my wallet enough already.
  13. Just 5-starred the expert campaign. For those who didn't already, go to Live Marketplace and check out the GH3 downloads. The Boss Battle songs have just been made available for download as freely playable songs. They cost nothing.
  14. You could beat Mario 64 quick too if you tried. But there are plenty more stars and such out there to keep you playing for a while. This game is the reason to own a Wii.
  15. If it pleases and sparkles, I'd like to nominate yesterday's episode "hilarious."
  16. Perhaps someday we'll go back and update the lists of consoles we covered before. If we do another of these threads, I expect it will cover the NES, SNES, Gameboy and Sega Genesis. Maybe the TurboGrafx-16 and GameGear as well, but I'm not sure. I know there are plenty of other early consoles that list would exclude, but I can't imagine we'd have more than one or two voters who had ever played one ever.
  17. Obviously, the list isn't as "complete" as any of us would like, but that's how it is when only 6 or 7 people come in to vote regularly (and only one of them owns a Saturn). At least it's nostalgic fun.
  18. Well it's been a fun month or so, but the time has come to wrap up this, the second OCR Must-Have Games thread. I hope you all enjoyed remembering and discussing these old classics. Perhaps someday, we will do this again, with a new lineup of consoles. Is our list perfect? No. We'd need a much bigger voter base to fine-tune such a list to anything near perfection. But hopefully this list will lead some of us to play games we'd never even considered. Thanks for all the people who took the time to vote regularly! And now, I present the complete Must-Have game list for OCR, parts 1 & 2! 19. You said it. That's been my favorite part of this game so far.
  20. Sorry I don't have much time to comment, but I really like the variety you've got here. Each little section feels different but cohesive. Something about the violin stabs still don't feel like those found in "Pirates" but they get the point across. Hope you still plan to keep this one going.
  21. Completing TTFATF and 5-starring Raining Blood are consuming me at the moment. I WILL achieve both. That intro is brutal, though.
