  1. Well I found the mix enjoyable. But it has too many problems to be accepted onto the site. As Larry said, the percussion is on autopilot for the majority of the mix. I thought the arrangement factor was all right. I heard more than one Tomb Raider theme in there, so maybe it's more of a familiarity thing with me. If you touched up the percussion and put some effort into making it sound as unique as the arrangement, you could have a good mix going here. Right now it's in WIP phase rather than final. So no dice. NO DICE
  2. Mazedude's sent in his second and final part of the project. So he's been marked as completed. Joker, I'll be working on your piece shortly, and it'll be crossed off once it's done. If anyone has any idea where Quinn Fox and Sixto might've disappeared to, let me know.
  3. Good to hear, GaMeBoX. I've been enjoying your mixes a lot recently as well. And thanks for the comments, people. This song was made purely for Larry and his Dirge for Follin project, but I like to think that others can just lay back with their headphones on and chill to the music while playing some online Pool or something.
  4. Here's my entry: The Orichalcon - Hot Stuff First mix I've made in a long time.
  5. <3 Spyro. If I can get my computer up and running I'll give it a shot.
  6. Updated with DJ Redlight's completed piece. Beatdrop's been beat-dropped from the project. Joker, I received your piece, I've ordered a new computer with parts that should be arriving in about 10 days, so I can do the drums/percussion for it then and tick you off the list.
  7. So few replies. Lots of direct sampling. More than a fair share of boom-tiss. But it's still good for that nostalgia. I used to listen to this often back in high school, and I still enjoy it now. Even my sister and dad both like the remix. Sometimes hear them listening to it, they normally hate stuff from here. (After all, video game music is just blips and bleeps.)
  8. I'd like a progress update from people currently sitting on tracks. Namely Quinn Fox, Sixto, Beatdrop.
  9. GSlicer passed this by me a couple of times before submitting. I told him the issues I had with his beats and he addressed them from what I can see. While he does use the same pattern recurring right through the mix, he's done the breakbeats necessary to give it a proper structure. He's turned the source into a rather dark and menacing sounding atmosphere. It sounds like it could be overbearing to start with, but it's right on the line and actually ends up coming across as quite clear and pronounced to me. The arrangement is fairly simple and does repeat, but I think it's structured well enough that it's not a problem. What I would like to have heard was a shift in the style at one point through the mix. It's only 3:25 long, so there was room for another minute or so, which could have opted for a nice quiet section in the middle to build up that brooding atmosphere with the melody, allowing the beats to come back in a little thicker at the end and really build up the context of how powerful they are. While it's not everything it could be. I think it's good enough to pass. YES
  10. There was a song playing in the background of the spore website a while ago, before they updated the layout. I was hoping that'd at least be in the game. It was a nice relaxing ethereal piece.
  11. This is pretty good stuff right here. The major problem that jumps out at me is an overreliance on those particular heavy beats that you've repeatedly used right through the mix. While they work well in the thicker sections you have, there were a few parts where they felt like they were overpowering the rest of the mix. I think backing them off a bit would've been welcome, and would most likely have made the more prominent sections something to really look forward to. Some of your instruments probably could've been produced a little less rough. But most of the mix is quite dirty, so it boils down to context, which is what's letting it slide by me. I'm happy to let this one through. It could be better, no doubt. But it's refreshing to hear something new from Siamey, and while this one is still almost over-reliant on those beats, the rest of the arrangement supports it satisfactorily YES

  14. I'll be making a thread designated to listing the official ReMix competitions here. I'll need anyone who runs a competition to PM a paragraph description about the competition, as well as a link to any hosting sites you may have for them. (including hosting sites and results.) This includes competitions that used to exist but don't anymore. (ie: TOMC, IMC, etc.) Douli and I will be organising a single thread for reference to all the information on the competitions.
  15. This is the new Competitions sub-forum of Community. All competition threads will go here, whether they be about music, writing, gaming, or just general fun. Forum rules are the same as the rules for Community Discussion. ie: No trolling, spamming, flooding, etc. You can read these rules here: http://www.ocremix.org/info/Forum_Rules_and_Posting_Policy New Competition threads will only be allowed after they've been cleared by either myself (The Orichalcon) or Doulifée. This is to ensure there are no clone or generally redundant competitions. Anyone who posts a Comp up without clearing will find it to be deleted shortly there-after. All competitions that were already running have been moved here, and this is the forum where they should be posted in future. Have fun and enjoy the Competitions forum.
  16. And to think Larry wanted to reject that piece. I'm interested in seeing this ad. according to Adrian's submission email: "My OC Remix username is adrian. I'd rather not add my e-mail address or Web site."
  17. Myself, Revolver Project, Haydn, Potshot, DJ Redlight and a couple of others reside in Perth.
  18. As discussed on IRC, the new file for the Phantasy Star 4 'Delirium' track is hosted here: http://andyjayne.googlepages.com/And...y-Delirium.mp3 This fixes a lot of the problems with the production on the previous version which weren't noticed until not long ago. Cheers.
  19. Stop summarising the fucking thread and let it die.
  20. Feel free to incorporate other Doom 2 songs in your mix, I won't stop you. Especially since you're doing EndGame, it'd make an interesting close.
  21. http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,21035741-2,00.html Hmm. Coincidence?
  22. MM, basic mix. It's catchy, and enjoyable. But it's definitely not up to standards. It's similar to an Ultima remix we had submitted a year ago that was pretty groovy, and would've been a hit mix 6 years ago, but it's not up to the standards today. Most of your synth and pad sounds are in their basic form, with simple delay effects on them to give them an edge. The mix drags on with this sort of basic mixing technique padding a lot of it. Even if this was touched up, I still think its length would be its ultimate downfall. NO
  23. Yeah, distortion everywhere, weird dysfunctional arrangement using faux-guitar, abrupt ending. I don't know why this is on the panel. NO
  24. The way the song builds around the theme is one of the stronger points of the mix, but you're pretty much just repeating the same part of the "Ahead on our way" source over and over again from start to finish. I'd like to have heard some change-ups, some additions to the melody arrangement to see where this mix could've gone. Your drums were great, best part of the mix. Very clear and good sounding. The rest of the music mashes together in a not-so-nice way. Most of it is clear, but the notes are clashing due to either reverb or delay effects, I can't tell which. I think this would benefit from a more precise use of the effects generators so things don't flood so much. Good first mix, keep working and submitting. NO
