  1. Lots of thick sounds, not much cohesion between the instruments and drums. You have some interesting ideas. I liked what you did around 2:10. If it was produced better that'd probably come across sounding pretty neat. As it is though, you have a funky (but LOUD) groove, and not much else going on around it. Needs much more work. NO
  2. Bland is the word. The way this is arranged is just boring. The piece is evidently meant to be gentle, even sad sounding, but that doesn't mean you can go lazy and just use two or three quickly-sequenced instruments through the mix. You need to layer your textures and make the soundscape interesting. Really sink the listener into the mood that you're trying to set. This needs a lot of work before it's passable. NO
  3. God damn. We still haven't had a Perth meetup and you're going for another Sydney one? I wish I had money so I could fly over there, even if Sydney is a shithole.
  4. The Coop: Your point is one of the points we discussed. Generally if a mixer requests that a mix be removed, it will be granted and the mixer will not be barred from submitting remixes again. (An example would be a mixer who submits a mix that they later strongly regret submitting for quality or personal reasons. As long as they've shown a legitemate reason for a removal request and had time to think about it.) That rule is pretty much there to prevent another remixer "exodus" from happening again. ie: If people insist on having all their remixes removed out of anger for the site or some similar train of thought, then Dave holds the right to refuse to allow them to ever submit again, or "come crawling back" in a more fitting description.
  5. There's a walkthrough on gamefaqs that covers it. I'm too lazy to check, but I usually read the biggest walkthrough in filesize, so try whatever that one is. It basically involves buying 99 of some item in Dali. Then buying 99 of some item in Lindblum and Synthing them in Lindblum, then selling the resulting item. basically the sale price is twice the cost of item 1 + cost of item 2, so you get double your money back. It just takes a while to run back and forth synthing and selling the items, since synthing also costs money which stops you from doing it all in one go. Once you've done 99 times and have the 65,000 gil though. You can run back to Dali and buy another 99 of the items, come back to Lindblum and do it again all in one go to get another 65,000. Repeating as many times as you want. I only do it once or twice when I go through though, since you just don't need that much money in the game. Most of the best items you can buy can be stolen from enemies in the game. And you should be stealing as often as you can so you can beat that bookworm thing in Alexandria on Disk 3 far easier.
  6. Don't worry about money in 9. There's a gil technique that you can do to nab 65,000 gil with just a little running back and forth between two adjacent shops.
  7. Lighten up. I agree this is essentially a favourites thread and will eventually be closed. But it's just for a bit of fun and the idea is no less valid than that internet-videos thread that LAOS started. Why not just add your favourite, decent games as well and let the mods delete it when they're ready. It's not like they're sitting around waiting for people to point out that a thread might be a favourites thread.
  8. Contribute or just don't post. Nobody really cares if you think it's lame or "don't dig it."
  9. Since you can play PSX games on a PS2, these two games are the finest platform games I've ever played: Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus
  10. I live in Australia. I challenge Jackoff Thompson to try sticking his obviously inadequate vendetta into international law. So just to clarify: If there was a God, Jackoff Thompson would die and the 31 victims of VT would be revived.
  11. I would like to see Jack Thompson murdered by someone who has never played a video game. I sort of assume his spirit would just refuse to die out of principle.
  12. Set the gambits before you head off and save them. Make sure you have the evasion weapons/shields or you'll get raped. And no I'm not ASephiroth, I don't even know what/who that is. Edit: Also, in that picture I posted above. If you follow the path in red below, it counts as two screens and you don't run into any other monsters on the way. Just follow it to the second screen and then follow it right back.
  13. If you changed your avatar and changed your sig to a crappy MSPaint scribble. Nobody would know who you are. You'd have quite a few people saying "STOP CAMPING COOP'S NAME!"
  14. Oddworld. No better game idea in my opinion. Sligs are stupid, but great fun. Used to have a lot of fun back in '98 just possessing a slig and running around making noises and shooting things.
  15. Short playlist. There are some remixers that are lesser known (ie: they remix obscure games and don't get recognition for it.) I recommend listening to GaMeBoX, Lousyspy, Tepid, Rimco, Flik, RoeTaKa and Kadmium in particular. phoenixdk is a new remixer who's impressed me a lot lately. He's had a remix put up recently (Crypt Rock.) And of course, a bit of TO & Bladiator never goes astray.
  16. Success, my avatar is no longer available to the commoners. HAHA!
  17. Retarded. I made a UT map of our school that even the teachers used to play back in high school. Harmless fun. Not everyone is a psycho-killer.
  18. Very nice work, Beatdrop. That time in the brig did you well. Hopefully this is only the beginning of a successful career in music.
  19. I've also come to a very difficult decision to remove Joker/LuIzA's Map09 remix from the project. While the mix did sound all right, it was ultimately too liberal in arrangement for what I'm after. Both LuIzA and Joker are more than welcome to pick up another track or have another go at the same track. Map09 is now available.
  20. Had a listen to your tracks and replied in PM, Prometheus. Get back to me when you can. Phoenix has sent me his second and final track. Kudos to him for working so fast and creating such great music. He's also changed his name to phoenixdk to match his forum name. It's also a unique match on last.fm so that's all the better for him. Still a few tracks open. Mixers are limited to two tracks. So if anyone who current has one wants to take another, go for it, send me a WIP. Once the website is designed, I'll be asking mixers to send a bio description and a picture with a theme, so don't do any of that just yet.
  21. Let's start by saying that I strongly approve of the title of this remix. Much like Samuel Jackson only acted in the movie because it was called "Snakes on a Plane", so am I only voting on this remix because it is called "Turd Surfers". Onto the mix. First of all, I don't like the snare or the drums in general. I think you could've used something a bit more heavy for this kind of mix. The synths are drowning the mix in my opinion. The bass and drums seem to be buried beneath all the synth work. It's not too bad. But balance is the key difference between "liking" a mix, "loving" a mix and "creaming pants" over a mix. The arrangement is hot like Larry in Alaska (the snow just melts 'neath him) so that carries this into a yes vote from me. I'M SICK OF THESE MOTHERFUCKIN' TURTLES IN THIS MOTHERFUCKIN' SEWER! Turd Surfers unite. YES
  22. You have fine pitch and good ears. To be able to keep your voice and guitar so perfectly in-tune. This is a beautiful track, Unfortunately my download constantly cuts off at 3:27 so I'll have to get the full file from Larry. But I've heard enough of it to know I'll pass it. It started off shaky with the flooding that Larry mentioned. But from the point the guitar came in, the track was serene and professional. Kudos to you. YES
  23. Drums are awful. They're flat and thin. Samey right the way through. The kick is tinny, it's just an awful set. You might have them programmed well, but the set just sounds awful. The guitar is far enough out of tune at times that it sounds badly sloppy. As Larry said, tighten it up a bit. Good ideas. Just work on it a better more. Find yourself a real drummer if you can't find a decent set. NO
  24. eight hours for 800,000 xp with that method. 1,200,000 xp per hour (ie: 9,600,000 xp per 8 hours, though theres no need to go for that long) with the henne mines one. Admittedly you can't walk away from the game with the henne mines xp trick. But it is faster.
