I'm sorry, but I always thought Aeris was annoying. I was never at all attatched to her, and when she died, my reaction was something along the lines of "sweet." Now, in FF6, when Celes tried to commit suicide after Cid's death, I definitely cried. That was a brilliantly executed scene (ignoring the obvious soften-the-blow ploy with the Cid quote right before she jumps), at just the right point of the game, and it really drove home that feeling of dispair that was so appropriate for that part of the game. And of course, the fact that Celes was a great character all along (and had a heart-breakingly beautiful themesong) made it that much more powerful. That's about the only time I can think of where a videogame has left me in tears.

Count me in. I'll bring an acoustic guitar (perhaps an electric as well) and two whistles (one high, one low). Anything else I should bring? Another mic, some guitar effects pedals etc (I have a modded tubescreamer, a tweak fuzz, and a wah-wah -- and I guarantee nobody else will have a wah that sounds quite like this one).

If you can't get a ride to and from Dulles, see if you can get a flight near where somebody lives who's going, and see if you can get a ride with them. If you want to fly into Raleigh/Durham, you can ride up with me (though the airport is a bit out of my way; see what your other options are first, please)

I think this just might top Dragon Song as being not only the single greatest remix on this site, but the one of the greatest pieces of music -- remix or otherwise -- that I have ever heard.

Is there a way to get DOSbox to output midi data rather than emulating old midi sounds? To put it more concretely, would there be a way to run the music from dosbox through an external synth via the soundcard's midi out?

I love VGmusic. Also... OLD!

I'm thinking about buying some orchestral samples, and need reccomendations. The main thing I need is good brass, though decent strings would be a definite plus as well. Right now for orchestral stuff I use some Colossus and my Motif. Is there anything under $300 that would offer an improvement over these?

Jesus Christ Superstar has ballads. I doubt it will be a problem (though of course Hemo and Sammy are the ones who really have the final say in that)
