Fan Art Competition 8: Pokémon [Results]
SynthesizedStampede replied to atmuh's topic in Competitions
If that was for me, then yeah. It took me around 3 hours to pencil it, take a picture of it, then color it on photoshop. Ionno why but I felt like getting it done because I knew if I let it sit for too long I would NEVER have finished it. It's okay if we revise it though right? I might add some things or polish them up...cuz y'know...I rushed that and that's why it's a lil under par >_<. Oh and that and I colored w/Photoshop and I'm used to Paintshop rawr. -

TAG'D. I think I'm gonna enter this...tee hee...man if only my scanner wasn't broken...yeah here's my entry... The link to the original is here... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/SynthesizedStampede/OCRemixPokemonArtContestoriginal.jpg So you can see how much better it could've looked if I didn't have to re-outline everything in Photoshop. >_< Ah wells... -
Man, what a huge loss for the world. Godfather of soul, funkiest man alive. Without him the b-boy culture probably wouldn't be where it is today. Rest in Paradise... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6208615.stm

OCR01465 - Sonic & Knuckles "Lover Reef"

Wow, this song is awesome. I wasn't expecting it to be this good, but gosh it works. Lava Reef with vocals? Who would've thought? Splendid . -
OCR00240 - Sonic the Hedgehog 3 "IceCapped"
SynthesizedStampede replied to m68030's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Best. Ice Cap. Remix. Ever. No lie everybody, this has got to be one of the best remixes on this site. Not only will Sonic fans agree (with their hearts full of ecstacy), but those who will just hear this remix most likely will fall in love with it too. Made in 2001? So what? It sounds like it was made just a year ago. The quality of this mix is SO GOOD I didn't even realize it was made back in 01. I can't say much more, since I don't know music technicalities, but I swear that this mix will please ANY Sonic 3 fan. I loved it back in the day, and I still love it now. Love the strings and eh...that woodwind instrument Loved EVERY BIT of this goddamn song. 10 outta 10 no doubt. Quality OCRemix work right here, do your ears a favor and dl it. -
Honestly, in my mind, as soon as I finished listening to it, I declared this song THE BEST piano OCRemix I've heard...and I've had my share of piano remixes. And no, I am not biased, because this was the first time I've ever heard the LttP Credits Song in my life. I love most of the piano remixes already, so it gets extra points for having the right instrument, but omg, this is just such a beautiful masterpiece, nobody should pass on it. I am so totally serious haha this is truly a MOVING piece. Nearly brought tears to my eyes just listening to it (shut up I'm a sensitive guy haha).

OCR01416 - Sonic the Hedgehog "Cryptic Marble"
SynthesizedStampede replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Muahahaha I remember back when DistantJ had that "Lava Twilight" WIP floating around in the, well, the WIP forum. Nice to know that THIS is what came out of it. Hell, I even loved the first version, but this one just capitalizes on so many new things. It has a whole new feel and creates a whole new atmosphere. OMG 1:46, absolutely love that section from the Marble Zone song, and love how you brought it into this remix in relatively the same style as in the first versions. That ionno, eh, "twanging" (please don't shoot me! >_<) at 2:01 just has me in a whole nother world. 3:13, man, just beautiful work here. I can't even describe, I'm just pointing out my favorite parts haha. Wonderful job DistantJ, you've created a masterpiece. -
Hmm...that first distinct sound you hear when you play the song had me skeptical at first, but as soon as it started rolling, everything began to fall into place. The electric guitar, for some reason, impressed me. I don't know why, but I really felt it for some reason. Loved it through and through. Favorite part? 1:46, don't ask why, it's 12:11 AM and my mind isn't quite up to par as it should be haha. This song just rocks. Pick it up IF you are a fan of Link's Awakening. Definitely something you need if you love the Tal Tal Heights song. However, I WILL say that this is closer to the original than Disco Dan's. So if you're just looking for a MP3 version of the original, this is the closest you'll get...I think. But even as a remix this is an awesome tune. Good job!

I would've never imagined Zelda's Lullaby to be remixed into a song of this style. It's very calming and nice, and the ocean sound effects add to it's peacefulness. The guitar really, really does this song justice, I can't describe it, it just fits so well. The giggle in the beginning just sold me. Haha I don't know why, I just loved it when I heard it. The part at 2:01 with the electronic elements, it turned the song from a "thinking on the beach while watching the stars" kind of tone to a "why am i alive, what must i do?" kind of tone. I loved it, it added a sort of melancholy feel to the song. Every bit of this song I loved. Bravo man.

I absolutely love this remix. I've grown up with Sonic, and everytime I pop in Sonic Jam to in my Saturn, and play Sonic 3 locked on to Sonic & Knuckles, I ALWAYS love getting to Hydrocity Zone and listening to the music. ALWAYS. With this remix, I no longer have to play the game to hear the music. It is similar to the original, but has such a twist to make it into a song I can love more. What I ABSOLUTELY love though (even though I know it's not intentional because it's kinda my mind's judgement)is how at around 2:50-3:00, I ALWAYS think that it's the end of the song. But then I look at my CD Player, and omg I have about half of the song left. Hell yes. But I'm not sure how I would judge this on terms of those who haven't played the game. In terms of music, I'm not skilled in trying to see things from the other side. However, for fans of the game, and the Hydrocity Song, this remix is STRONGLY recommended. Very good work, does the original justice.

Honestly, this has now overtaken Disco Dan's "Braving Tal Tal Heights" as my favorite Link's Awakening remix. I mean, this song is what I've been waiting for in a long time. I can't really get into technicality, since I know shit bout music specs, but all I have to say is this is one good piece...oh and do I hear a bit of LttP's darkworld theme, then a bit of the Song of Storms, then the end to one of the OoT ocarina songs? Sweeeeeeeeeet.

OCR01319 - Xenogears "Xenosphere"
SynthesizedStampede replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
My god. This is absolutely one of my favorite remixes ever. The mood is just so great in this song. Everytime I hear it I think of a perilous night sky (though I haven't played Xenogears so I don't really know when this song plays). But when the strings came in at 00:34, I already told myself "God damn. This is gonna be an awesome mix right here". Magnificent (how many times do you see that word?) job Oceanfire, 10/10, I can't find anything I DON'T like. -
I've had the WIP version for a long time now, and have downloaded this version, the complete version, in hope of it being as good as the WIP one. This one has surpassed it in so many levels. Although the tune is close to the one I heard before, there are little things added that keeps it feeling "magical". The Ballad of the Wind Fish is my second favorite Zelda song (Tal Tal Heights is the first), and "Symphonic Ballad" does it justice. Beautiful work, 8/10.

This is a good remake of the Zelda 1 Dungeon Theme. The sounds fit the mood perfectly, yet, I have to agree with everyone else in saying that it is repetitive. By around 2:26 it got quite "boring" because it was the same thing we heard just a minute ago, and at that point I think you should've just faded it out or added a bridge or something SIGNIFICANTLY different. Good stuff tho. 7/10

Damn, this is one good remix. I haven't played Xenogears, but this song MUST mean the original is good. -
OCR01208 - Legend of Zelda "Eutopia Pegasi"
SynthesizedStampede replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
A really nice, nice tune. It's so calming, and the vocals are great, prolly the best I've heard in an ocremix so far. I can't really use any other word except "beautiful" to describe this song. This is a good song to put up if you have that fantasy feeling, like you just watched Lord of the Rings or just finished beating Warcraft 3. Great job Destiny and The Wingless, you guys did really good. 10/10 -
OCR00459 - Sonic the Hedgehog "Lightning Star"
SynthesizedStampede replied to Ginnsu's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
6/10 I loved the rock influence the whole time. It wasn't that calming tune I loved, yet it still was great. The upbeat uh...beat really got me off guard, so it took me awhile to get used to, but when I did I loved it...then the soft rock/jazzy like part came. That totally turned me off, even til today. No offense, but I really dislike this tune(but others really do). It sounded too much like Mario (0_o), and I just didn't like it. But everything else was great. -
OCR01109 - Skies of Arcadia "Horteka Stomp"
SynthesizedStampede replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
8/10 Recommended for SoA fans. I really like this piece. It starts out with some garbage can(literally) beats, then the tune comes in. But you get my opinion in favor cause it has "my" part in it, where it starts out high(the note), then gradually goes down. Yah very very nice. -
I loved this song. The beginning piano fits the mood perfectly, with perfect chords, then a woodwind instrument (not fond of the woodwind family, maybe a clarinet or oboe?) comes in to take a little of the melody. Oh and I also love how at the end he mixes it with a traditional Christmas song (which I also can't pinpoint in my mind right now). If you want a yule-tide remix, this is the one to get.

Beautiful. One word. That's all I can say. This actually means alot considering I rarely use this word. When I hear something good I usually say "nice", "sweet", "tight", "catchy", but this this is just in a league of its own. I mean, I never wanted to play an instrument, but hearing the first cello, made me want to play one and play this part of the song(I haven't learned how to it just made me want to learn). Oh man, it's so emotional I love it. To me, it's a relaxing, kind of depressing, piece of tune. It adapts to so many different stories and scenes. Like you can picture somebody that just broke up with their mate, and their sitting on a bench in the middle of a park, with a light shower falling from the sky. Truly a masterpiece. Of course, it has that awesome chorus that makes it a mysterious tune, and makes me want to be a tenor instead of a bass so I can hum along...I can go on and on and on about this song. Excellent job djpretzel, I recommend making more remixes with this atmosphere.

Just to tell everybody here, I'm no music expert, so while I won't be able to point out all the instruments and synths, I still know what fits and what doesn't. Okay, so honestly, this song had the best intro I evar heard. With the fading piano thing playing sections of the main song. Oh and I love the thing that you first hear(not the ride symbol), yes, this is all about the intro. But the thing that shcoked me a lot was the violing sounding thing. It just was like...aaaah! But it grew on me. I gotta give props to Disco Dan for using that awesome banjo in there. Great piece of music right there.
