I've been thinking about seeing if anyone in the area would be interested in music production lessons, focusing on soft-synths and various electronic music styles. I know there are a lot of people that would love to be able to make tunes, but are intimidated by software and don't know where to begin. I know if I had someone suggesting things and answering questions when I started, at least my technical production skills would have been way better much quicker. I wonder if there is any market for this. Putting up ads on craigslist is free, so no harm in finding out. Only problems I see is the equipment - in order for the student to 'practice' on their own, they'd have to invest in some pretty expensive software (relatively, $300 or whatever for some software always makes newbs go, "Omg that much for a computer program???lolol") and maybe a midi keyboard. Also, they may or may not want to work with what I use, what I know, or what I recommend. I know Ableton Live, Reason, ACID, and Cakewalk stuff pretty well, but what if they want to use FL, Orion, Logic, etc? You guys have any thoughts on this?

My tC has an ipod Data jack coming up through the between the front seats compartment. I just plug it in there, close the compartment, and control the ipod from the head unit (or on the steering wheel). Song info shows up on the headunit display, and it also charges the ipod. Sweet! Like 4 years ago I bought a CD/Radio head unit for my old car for $80 that had a line in jack. That was cool and cheap too.

Fuck yeah! I'm excited. Your mix for BTSB was really cool.

Yoyoyo. Batch 2 is posted: www.sgxmusic.com/sgxrmx2.htm Cool stuff from Malcos and some others. I've decided on a due date - April 20th! Get your stuff in! And DAMN, I've been getting a lot of Coactive remixes. If you're going for one of the prizes, I'm gonna let you know now that a good strategy would be to remix something else! People getting prizes are people whos tracks are going to be on the final album that I stick together and release as a downloadable package. I don't want it to be 90% Coactive, so picking something different will be an easier way to make me happy . Need some Lofi Attitude action! And this is a little design I'm working on for either the TShirt or the Album cover graphics:

I want flOw.... And that's about it.

I liked the track in the commercial . I wouldn't mind seeing the movie. Why not? I like dumb entertainment plenty. I liked the first one even though it was dumb.

Yeah those aren't out yet. However, MS started putting quieter DVD drives in them a month or so ago. You probably got one of those.

Tommy's Advent Rising score rocks, btw. And it is mostly performed by a live orchestra.

Man, I got Midnight Club III through goozex.com and my psp keeps freezing when I am trying to create my save profile. The UMD looks like it is in perfect condition....can anyone think of any reason it would do this? Might have to return it as defective...

Not lookin to drop some big bucks. My EQLSO Silver and Dimension Pro stuff should be good enough for me for now. Cross that off my list....maybe I should get some loopmasters sample CDs...hmmmm (birthday comin up). Thanks for the info.

6 is awesome. It is more CPU efficient (and I'm on a single core cpu) than 5, racks are exactly the same thing as Reason combinators minus Reason's CV routing, and Deep Freeze is amazing - when you have patterns of stuff, it actually intelligently just freezes the loop length and repeats it, plus it freezes any reverb tails. You can split, move, edit the frozen audio and those changes will be made to your midi or whatever once you unfreeze. Its also a great way to just plain render to audio. Gripes are - midi timing issues with rewire Reason, and it can't run vsti's when in rewire slave mode . Arrange view interface is a bit cumbersome (track folders and whatnot would be nice).

I can't really find any formal product reviews, just a few user reviews on retail sites. Seems like they don't think much of the patches, but the rex files are cool if that's what you want. I don't really need rex files I don't think. Maybe if this were cheaper. Re-listening to those demos, the patches seem a bit dry, and a bit more like a string ensemble than an orchestra. I think I want the fuller lush sound...probably going to pass on this. Maybe if it were $50 or so. $80 is a bit much I think.

Any of you used the Propellerheads Reason Strings Refill? I'm thinking about getting it. I already EQLSO Silver and Dimension Pro so I've got some ok orchestral stuff, so I'm not sure why I would need this, but those demos are fun - I think it is making me want it. I think one reason I want it is because I like running big samples in Reason - CPU efficient and easy. And with Thor on the way, I'll probably be using Reason a whole lot in the future anyways. Any comments from people who have used it? EDIT: Listening to the demos - oh...I guess Fort Minor uses Reason Strings ...very blatantly haha. (Very recognizable string loop)

OH! I am a tard. I meant DM Ashura. Damn AZN names.

They want things above 120 bpm....I haven't made much 'dancey' stuff that is that fast for a while . I entered a couple tracks last year and didn't win. I don't know if I feel like quickly making a "DDR" style track (which is a style I am generally not interested in anymore) really quickly. DJ Amuro, who I talk to, won last year and his track is in Ultramix 2 or something.

Rad. No Meijer near me .

How are you getting them that cheap?

Looking for opinions- Miroslav Orchestral ReFill

I'm pretty sure that refill compression is lossless....I have no data to back this up other than knowing that lossy compression of samples would be really retarded and I don't think anyone would ever do that.....
