  1. For your ACID problem - do you have the latest version? I think they are at 5.0c or d. You should upgrade to Live 6 when it comes out The new Deep Freeze looks like it is the shit. You can move around your frozen pieces, split, add automation, and then when you unfreeze it applies all that to your midi. Extremely coooool. I'm looking forward to it.
  2. Sounds like you figured it out, but that's probably a bit more of a FL issue you should ask there if you need more help learning how to use Rewire devices in there.
  3. Nah.. reason has no function for setting the GM voices per track. The function is more so that you can move your arrangement to another sequencer where you will be using softsynths also, not really to make a midi track for listening on a GM soundcard or whatever. You'll have to use some MIDI editing software to assign the instruments on the track for the midi.
  4. Compress it a bit, eq it so it fits in....maybe a little distortion if that's your thing.
  5. Not really, no. You could load them into the NNXT or NN19 also if you wanted. Nothing's really great for it though.
  6. Yeah you'll have to make a new one. Though you could probably do something like set up a combinator with a bunch of the dr rex's with the loops you want loaded in, then bind the buttons on the combi to activate/end patterns or mute/unmute them. You can then automate the combi buttons.
  7. Grabbed. Thanks . BTW - Listening to Not Commercial right now. Some nice sounds in here
  8. PS3 is worth it if you were going to get a blu ray player, but if you weren't...$600 is too much. Especially when there are so many cross platform games. I don't see the fact that PS3 has blu ray being as much as a factor as DVD was for the PS2. DVD's were substantially better than VHS, plus everyone had a TV that would play DVD's. Blu Ray/ HD DVD basically just look better, and this is only if you have an HD TV which everybody doesn't. There's almost no reason to get blu ray unless you have an HD TV.
  9. Hmmm weird. I have two ideas test it out with another rns file...does this still happen? if so Maybe it is some sort of odd memory leak bug in Reason. I seem to remember version 3.0.0 gave Macs some issues like that (don't know if you are mac or pc). Regardless, check on the Props website to see if you have the latest update. if not maybe you have some really weird feedback going? Disable any delay units you have running and see if that fixes it up. Wild guesses
  10. I just bought an Axiom 25 recently...not from them, but I would have looked into it if I had known . Trigger pads FUN. I don't love the clicky knobs though.
  11. FL gets a bad rap because all the 14 year olds pirate it and post shit music online. I don't really like it myself, but that's just cuz the workflow doesn't jive with me personally, not because it is bad.
  12. I put a few things in the combi patches thread (is that still around?) But, I usually don't reuse synths too much, so I don't save a lot of my combis.
  13. I like to layer two synths for basses a lot. One more 'buzzy' that lacks enough low end to be good on its own, and one that's more like a sin wave sub bass sound. Also, unison can be bad news for bass - width is good in the mid-high freqs, but usually bass freqs you want mono and centered to make them tighter. Use the mclass stereo widener to make the mid+highs wide, and the low centered.
  14. ur gay I've used a program on the mac called Junxion to convert usb signals from a gamepad to midi, but I don't know of anything like that for PC.
  15. OGG IS LOSSLESS NO ARTIFACTS, N00B! lol Was that a joke? Ogg is lossy, so there WILL be re-encoding artifacts. (i believe you can put flac in an ogg container nowadays so that would be lossless. But i think everyone assumed that we were talking about the lossy Vorbis in an ogg container here). What a newb, that snapple-newb.
  16. Aw...too bad compy can't come in here and write an essay about the "loudness wars" omg.
  17. Find out if your host supports multiple cores or if it will in a future upgrade. If it doesn't, a dual core cpu is only going to be as fast as 1 of the cores on its own for audio.
  18. Wait -- isn't that what sound tempest was......OR MAYBE YOU ARE SARCASM???
  19. Hy Bound - you have Live. Awesome for Live performance. Get yourself some midi controllers with knobs and shit. And you can probably find out a lot of info on techniques for doing sets with Live here http://www.abletonlivedj.com/
  20. Ok I'm confused now, but I wasn't mad .
  21. I know she doesn't say "save me" and that isn't why I named it that. The original music is from the save couch, and you have to save Yorda, so I named it Save Me. Double!
  22. Dual core cpu's are kinda like having dual cpus...but they are on the same cpu...or something. Music software has to be specifically written to split the real time audio rendering and whatnot into two pieces so that both cores can be working on it at the same time. If not, say you have a dual core 1.83 ghz cpu (which is basically like two 1.83 ghz cpus), you'll have the same performance as someone with a single core 1.83. If the software does support dual cores, you'll get a lot more power.
  23. Basically all DAWs that don't already are going to have it in the next version. Sonar5 does, ACID6 does, Live6 will, I assume Project5 v3 will because usually Cake uses the latest Sonar engine for P5, etc. I thought that FL has some support - audio engine on one core and GUI on the other if you have 2 cores.
  24. Get familiar with how a professional song with similar sounds in it as what you are working on sounds on your system and try to get close to that. I use headphones mainly because monitors aren't practical where I am set up, but I burn cd's a lot to go test out the bass on different systems like the car stereo and whatnot. Careful with headphones - bass is often hard to guage accurately.
  25. Yeah, that's one of the reasons I got the game. I haven't gotten around to doing anything with it yet though.
