  1. Hmmm...I'm really usure what some this is a remake of... Oh well, it sounded original enough. I have no other words to say except "9/10. Only one point comes off because it's way too short."
  2. Very very very emotional, with the same layout as Led Zeplin's Stairway to Heaven (but with different chord arrangements). I'm not really a build-up kind of guy. I want a good smack in the face right away when it comes to music, but for a love song like this one, it's suitable. The guitars and drums are very well comstructed, and sounds very original compared to those of Creed, Nickelback, and Linkin' Park, even though there's a bit of resemblence. But in general, when it comes to music, I don't want foreplay, I want the whole enchilada, right now!!!! Good stuff from the silent guy. Not outstanding, but approved. A break from monotonous techno remixing.
  3. Ummmm.....very cute and original (compared to his hardcore rap songs). Appealing to audiences of all ages.
  4. That quote is a warning to head phone listeners who's ears get irritated by harsh panorama. Anyway, I didn't like this mix that much at all. It's a great original idea, and "You haven't lost your touch." is a great sample for a mix like this. Very good with effects though, but the melody, lack of bass, and a few other things bring this to a 6/10. Good try though.
  5. Wow!!! This mix is both nasty and over the top. Looks like AE has some competition here! I'm not sure if SysteManiac will win against AE (if they even battle), but I know he'll put up a good fight for sure. I love the amount of effects used very good use of flam and distortion. The huge bassy beat and snare really stick out. I love it!! I also like the classical bit with the choir. It gives us a break from the monotony. By the way, at 2'57" was that the original Nintendo's bass sample used in the back? It sounds good. And yes, the samples weren't a fav, but I got over it. 8/10 If you are a huge fan of Vivi, and love his theme song, download this or miss out on a great mixture.
  6. I like waxingeloquent's mixtures of classical and techno and "drum and bass". I love the panning on synths and tambourines. The organ patch is the phattest thing I've ever heard in my years of music. It really makes this song both exciting and creepy. This song just blew me away. I mean the orchestral hits and cymbals just keep in rythum! And the bridge, THE BRIDGE! That really did something for me while I was listening to it. The gated ending was also great stuff. Just one minor thing. Your drum work volume has improved since the first form remix. But the drum and bass lines are quite a bit repetitive, and if the drum lines change every so often, it's not very noticable. Great mixage though. Keep up the good work though, and I'm looking forward to the third form mix if you make one.
  7. Can somebody pleeeeeaaaassse tell me how to defeat that wierd FF9 monster in Memoria that sucks all your strength, snorts one party member out, and gives you the silent claw? It's been really giving me a hard time!
  8. I dunno. I think it's a little over-the-top. I mean, I like styles where electronic and classical music blend. It sounds like a wedding musical of the present where the wedding is soft and sweet with classical music, and then the trance music comes in at the reception. This song kind of reminds me of the time in-between. Really, it's neat, but the rythum of the flute is something I could do without. No offence. The remix is acceptable.
  9. Very nice, but WAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY too short. I really love the phased pad work here, GY. I really didn't notice the panning too much, in fact I think there should be more variety in the pan works. It's a great mix of the StarDust Good Future from the Japanese soundtrack (The best of all original Sonic Soundtracks! The American version su......well it's decent..). Classic 808s, old school synth bass, the perfect techno for the early 90s. Give it up for Gecko Yamori!
  10. *Jaw drops* Why didn't I get a better remix of this before! Evilhorde's take was pretty good with the laser sound pinging back and forth, but this not only does the pingin', but it also uses other sound effects as if Mega Man was destroying everything in his path (listen to panning sfx for details). There's even a couple of sound effects that are reverbized (if that's even a word) as if he was in a catheral or someting! AE, you gotta chill a bit or you may go over the top. The instrumentals and hi-hats go everywhere. I especially love that piano solo after 2 min. All in all, a very nice mix with LOTS of layers! All hail AE, the ultimate MM2 remixer of 2002!!!
  11. Good stuff, Pretz. I'm a little dissappointed because I really wanted to do a remix on the Jungle Japes theme. Oh well, heck with it. It's a great song. Since it's late in my area of time, I'll just say one thing. If you like old Fats Waller tunes from 1930s that's super old but with lots and lots of instrument variation, download this!
  12. A huge improvement from his first Super Mario Paint Remix, Dan kicks the door down, and assaults you with his musical bullets of trance. A great mix with great sweep pads, some well layered trance stuff. Dan, what on Earth is that vibraphone sound used in the second part of the melody? It stands out nicely in this remix. Fun, party hoppin' stuff from Dr. Disco Dan. Give it up, y'all!
  13. Disco Dan's old hit Mega Man 2 Rapid Fire Remix is great. It's not neccessarily the coolest of all his tunes, but he's got the synths, the perfect but repetitive dance beat to keep the party hoppin', and what is this? Brass? I've never heard brass in techno, but it fits well with the other electronic stuff. Good work Dan! But do something other than Mega Man for once.
  14. First review this year, This is a remix of the Chrono Trigger Theme I've been waiting for a long time to hear. Upbeat, slightly electronic and having variations. I've heard an Acid Jazz version of this theme, and it wasn't as good. Everything is excellent in this mix, good synth lines, some intentional skipping, nice choices of chances. Very good, except for how much reverb you put on the clock sound in the beginning and ending. The best Chrono Trigger Theme mixage from J Drive to date.
  15. A wonderful Christmas Present from Disco Dan. And of course, the best part is it's orignal and unexpected. It's quite a shift from all the fast paced Mega Man Remixes he does. Very very beautiful. I love the pads and the minimul break in the 3-4 minute section. The piano melody sounds very nice, a favorite instrument of mine. Keep up the good work, Dan the Man, Merry Christmas, Happy Hunaka, and yeah! Shutting up now.
  16. Grrrr! I covered this track with a hip-hop mix on VGMix.com and it never made the cut on OC!! WAAAAAAHHH I'm a failure! Anyway, back to reality.... Nothing too special here. "Same ol' same ol'" for samples, beats, and other dance styles. That clap is used waaaaayyy too often in modern dance music. I like the sitar sample that covers the melody. Very nice. I guess I'm a bit too picky. I was expecting more of a love ballad feel to this song. My only suggestion is to go for an original approach the next time you compose a remix. Good try though!
  17. Very very VERY funny!!! Really cute, and the lyrics are on exact timing as the melody. I listened to it 20 times and I'm still laughing at this very moment. I should try singing it for my school talent show this year. I'm sure the student body will get such a good kick out of it!
  18. Thanks for the reviews. I don't know what went wrong, but I have done alot of equalizing, keyboarding, analog recording using cassettes, and mixing for this song. My meters in Magix Music Maker v7 never made it past yellow when I tested it. Maybe it was just the last step of amplification after I manually recorded it with Audicity. I should have input a lower peak aplitude in the options menu. If you want to hear one of my first recordings in Toronto in my uncle's homemade studio, click on the Aaron Comica Theme on this page: http://www.angelfire.com/rebellion/doublearonmp3/ Go easy on the reviews. To me, ACT is my ultimate master piece. Again thanks for the reviews, Double A Ron Parsons PS Next project: A rap piece featuring the Dynablade Teme Castle Level.
  19. It's okay, with a few in your face effects. The Kirby microphone yell with delay sounds really cute. I love the syths used and a few synthetic pizzacatos here and there. It's a bit better than my take on the Floating Islands Theme. Kudoz, AAron
  20. Thank you very kindly for the review. I feel this is one of my best pieces. Even though I never really added too much in terms of effects unlike my current KSS hit, I felt I did what I could, with the exception of putting variations in the bassline. By the way, correction on the last paragraph, dear boy. It's more of a hip-hop piece than a techno mix. The drum line may have a techno style beat, but the sounds are in the hip-hop genre (the type of music I specialize in).
  21. Ah, BenCousins, the theivez of my hip-hop ideaz in progress as I turn the wax, and mutate tracks. I planned to do a rap of the same song using Dr. Fruitcake's "Rock" Remix (Fruitcake is a member of VGmix). He will be creditted if I make the submission cut before 2003. About the song: First, the mot so good points: I noticed that the main bass-line intro wasn't even used once in the track so it kind of gave me a wierd feeling. The only thing I have a real problem with is the same bassline and main rythum line sound very very VERY similiar to a song by Destiny's Child. Please insert more originality. Other than that, I love the hi-hat pattern mappings that BC uses which only gets way better. I also have a huge thing for ambient stuff. He uses street environment loops which blend well into the mix. Still, (we all know this) LostWoods South Central was a classic. But this song gets a 7.5/10 for sounding quite fly and using that Martin Luther king sample thingy.
  22. As some know, the Pancake Chef has had little musical training, and to make something like this here's what I have to say from a so-called "amateur". Very nice! A blend of Latin trumpets, a nice hip-hop beat, great synthlines at the beginning and some perfect bongos to give the infamous Kefka a good happy feel to his theme song. Two things I didn't like. The trumpet solo before the first laugh was waaaaaaaay too loud (I know it peaked in the monitors in my computer), and the panning of that hip-hop loop panned hard left was kind of irritating when I listened to it with headphones. Other than that, very nice, very clean. Just change those two things and I'll re-download the song.
  23. Doesn't stand out that much for a metal /punk mix of FF battle themes, but it's acceptable. I loved the arrangement of the FF2 battle theme section. The boss part was slightly out of tune, but recognizable. The FF6 battle theme really gave me an adrenaline rush (especially the ending of that section where the low overdrive and cymbals reached a loud creshendo. awesome). After that, the song before the great victory jingle arrangement was unrecognizable what-so-ever (TOO chaotic). A few things to work on, and the song will be excellent.
  24. I love this song. A change from all the fast breakbeat, hip-hop and techno remixes I listen to. This would make a great slow song at a high school dance. The saxophone solo's awesome at the beginning, and the piano fits in very nicely. Starla, you're vocals have very much improved since the 8-Bit Eighties Mario Remix. I can see that in this and 8-Bit, you've have Madonna as one of your influences for vocals and other compositions. The only two things that could make it better, louder vocals and a minimal drum-line. At least a bassdrum and a snare to keep the beat are good combinations. All in all, guys, surprise the love of your life with this when she comes over for dinner! To the red-head that owns a locker beside me, I reserve this track for you, my love!!!
