  1. This mix isn't what I call great, but the samples and the execution of it are done nicely. The string stab chords between 1:37 and 1:40 are messed up....just like alot of this mix. I enjoyed how the synths are rearranged, but the composition itself goes all over the place and is very hard to follow. Sorry. Not my thing, but I'll keep an open mind when I see your next mix.
  2. Hunter's Chance...I remember that track and I see the resemblance now. Thanks, Blak Omen.
  3. I still don't know what the original song is...it sounds so bloody familiar but I have no idea what it is. Seriously, I want to know where it's from!!! The more I listen to it, the more I get into it. I don't know why, but I just love it! It's like a Protricity, AE, and po! R & B, electronica, and jazz collaboration, but it's on dope, weed, and crack. It's interesting, but things keep it from staying in my toplist.
  4. This is the most abstract piece of electronica I've ever heard. It reminds me so much of Earthbound it's not even funny. It experiments with a whole bunch of filter settings that I've yet to perfect for my mixing. Nice stuff. I enjoyed the section of 1:58 to 2:35 alot. Most of the other stuff was pretty wierd, but I like how this was composed. Not a fav, but definately something I'd look back on once in a while. 3:18 to 3:22 was annoying. By the way, what's the title of the original?
  5. Wow, best electronic funk mix I've heard in a long time. I don't like the bassline sample, but other than that, it "Makes Me Dance!" I love the outro beat so much as well as the vocoded "Make Me Dance!" Awesome!
  6. Yeah, I'm sorry Prot had to leave as well. He actually judged one of my submissions quite nicely even though he said "This poo gets the NO foo!" No matter how many people hate him or how many people think he's a fag or were abused by him calling them a fag or by something else "faggy" that Protricity did, I have no qualms with the guy. He's a great judge of music and a good electronic sequencer/mixer. This song isn't as good as his other DK arrangements, but I love whatever he puts out. Great Japanese feel to the game. 8/10
  7. Hey, I remember this one! One of my good buddies really wanted it from VGMix, but since I had a hard time sorting through all the SF remixes I gave up. Now it's finally here! I can refer him to the link so he can download it. Anyway, I'm glad you took my earlier suggestion, and asked me about OCR, JD. I love this song even though I'm not a big fan of Street Fighter like this friend of mine. Do another.
  8. That was unecessary considering this guy tried his best to get good percussive samples for this mix.
  9. Ever since SMW Ghost was released I've been inspired to start learning to sequence brass with midi. I'll start by requesting some soundfonts that are close to the very high quality that Nixdorux uses. So does anyone have any suggestions for free high quality brass and sax soundfonts? I'd like to use something different besides what's on Darkesword's page for saxaphones. I'll create my own thread asking others how to sequence brass using midi.
  10. Bump... It's the ghost house up until 0:40, then it's the Fortress. But yea, this is definately a pretty cool track. The tune's barely recognizable! In fact it's almost gone. How did he manipulate it so the "Ghost House" bit was in there?
  11. DJ Pretzel, I have to correct you. It's more a take on the Mario Castle theme than the Ghost House Theme. Nix, I love this remix so much. Halloween is the perfect time to release it! I love the build-up of how the strings and brass swell to a crashing explosion at :40 and the strings at :55 on even if they sound like a tracked synthline. The velocity of everything is constantly changing. The brass is the highlight of this track. It sounds so realistic that even BlackPerson's brass sequencing is put to shame here. I also enjoyed the piano arrangement. You actually manage to use high and low chords in all the right octaves unlike some of my piano work. And did I forget to mention the dogs barking in the background and the church bell exiting the mix? A very chilling effect. Now for the bad news. I can say Vigilante pretty much summed up all the negative things I have to say about the percussion. I'm a little bothered by the orchestral snare and zap-kick percussion mixture especially when it's used at 2:55 to 4:21. You should get some 808s or some real genuine pullback hip-hop snares and kicks. The hi-hat also has a bit of a lo-fi thing going. If you want some percussive samples for another project like this that you'll undertake, I'm willing to hook you up. Other than those small matters, you've got my vote, Nixdorux. Guys, if you want to hear a happy tune gone to a dark arrangement that'll send shivers up your spin, this is the download. It's got a John Williams (Star Wars music composer)/Rob Dougan (Matrix music composer) feel to it. Peace and Happy Halloween! -Double A Ron 90/100
  12. Very good. I like the drumkit used. Very garagy. MMM MMMMMMM! The harmonics and guitar screeching is also excellent. The bit at 1:57 just blew me away. I'm usually not used to sound effects erupting in like that, but this is a gem. goat roars again with Castlevania madness. Congrats on your recent promotion as VGMix admin. It'll be a pleasure watching you run the site logged out. Now about that piano. It's got an attack to it that needs improvement and overall compression is needed. I could hear it barely and unfortunately it tends to blend in with the nice-chugging guitars. If the compression is there, I'd be very happy. I love how it's played on a positive note. It gives me that Simon Belmont stuck in a salon cameo. It's a great song but honestly, Stained Glass Filth owns. Peace out and finish the Unchoosen Paths album! I'm downloading every one of your future tracks, dude! Peace Double A
  13. It's not really the sexual innuendo itself, it's the way it was presented. It didn't affect me when I listened to the song, and that doesn't really bother me that much either. The instrumentation itself was very good. Okay here's my overall review. It may be edited once I get more time on my hands. A Review of Kong in Concert Favorites By "Double A Ron" Parsons No introduction's needed from me here: I'd say JigginJonT's West Coast DK Island was my favorite as the original song really got me hooked on the rest of this project. I absolutely loved Miles Davis ever since I heard his last remixed album b-bop sound at 16, so I'm definately up for the jazz and muted trumpet soundins'. Other favorites are the beats and industrial noises of Clouded Mind and Ringing Ears and Cry of the Chasmal Critter Chain. Those two are beoth interesting and kinda creepy (Clouded Mind)which definately sets great moods when I'm listening to it. SnappleMan's Punk arrangement of Thrash the Plank sets a cameo appearance of the original drum beat that appears in DK Isle Swing which stays true to the original just like bLiNd's Aerofunknamics. Speaking of which, I played Aerofunknamics at a party once and man, you should have seen the people. When all my friends found out it was Donkey Kong Country, and remembered the original sound, they just looked at me blankly. Rare Reminiscence was okay, it certainly sets the DK scene perfectly but it didn't strike me as being greater than anything Prot did on the DK2 side. The song gives us a feel of restoration of the terror that K. Rool and his army sent upon the Kongs, until the end of the track where the original melody is played. It pays homage to his Savage Seduction piece which is my over-all favorite of all of Prot's mixes. All I can say is great awesome stuff from all of you. Every song fits the project and if I ever earn as much skill and originality as you guys, I'd like to help with another project as big as this. Download it everyone! You're missing out on a project that celebrates one of my favorite Super Nintendo games.
  14. Yeah, that scared me in a good way after I found out what she does on Saturday nights, Liontamer. Back to the song on a positive note, on the actual version on KiC, I dug the bit from 1:50 to 2:30. The beat, the chello, and the panning chugging industrial sound-thingy at 2:21 got me hooked a bit until 2:35. I can listen to it, for a while even though it's not my type of music. I think what has this remix grow on me are the 1940'ish type string sample pads. They are very very lush sounding which keeps me hooked to this piece of work. Maybe I should look into your next work after all.
  15. A few songs I can take or leave, but most of it is awesome. I especially loved Jiggin'JonT's West Coast Swing and Clouded Mind and Ringing Ears. Good work guys. I'm going to try and get another song back up here.
  16. I heard the one off the Kong in Concert page. It didn't do it for me since it's not my cup of tea, but the arrangement's executed quite nicely seeing my grandmother dug it. Yes, my grandma listens to VG Frequency every Saturday night while I'm chiilin' with the guys and since she has a bad CD burner requests me to burn them for her.
  17. 1. No, I do not plan on making the movie. I have expressed a hope that should these two aspects of the movie come together, somebody will be willing to help create the third, namely the visual. But for now, the OST and the script are the only two finished products we're shooting for. 2. Yes, I took out Ayla and Robo. Along with them, I took out nearly an hour of unnecessary and confusing sidequests/backstory which would have drowned the movie with more than it needs. So know that my decision was well-thought-out, and the resulting product is not hurt, but instead is helped because of it. ...But Robo's my favorite Awww, is widdle Zaphwin gunna cwy?

Eat it, BITCH. -DCT Piejacked, you just got served. By the way, folks, you may want to send the news over to Destiny. She loves composing movie-ish type soundtracks. I'll provide beats if anyone needs some kind of hip-hop thing. As for instrumentation, I can't do too much in the movie ambient department so count me out unless you are in need of percussive assistance.
  19. Yes, that opening is quite sinister. Since Nixdorux's Ghost remix will be posted here, I'm putting that one as the first track on my Halloween OCR party mix along with DJP's Psycho Underpants. OCR Volume 6 CD for me. I have a collection.
  20. Wow, why doesn't anyone ever credit OC Remix on Kazaa? Great song, Dave. I'd like to hear more from you. As for the 50th post:
  21. I like it. It's kinda corny, but it's very interesting. Great for your kids if they're bored.
  22. For one thing this mix is almost 4 years old. I think we can be a little more lenient than that considering the age. Second, you say "But this mix is sort of killing my love for your other mixes." What does one have to do with another? Yes, GrayLightning, I realize how OCR standards have become more strict over the last 4 years which is why I'm scared to submit lately. If I was around 4 years ago, all my crappy polka and Eye Witness Jr. band cover VGMixes would be here. As for the comment I made about this mix killing my love for his other mixes, sometimes if a remixer's well known mix is horrible while his/her other tracks are awesome, it affects my generic judgement and perspective of the artist in general. An example of this would be me producing wicked beats, while my same fans, who love my beats, throw tomatoes at my raps just because they're clean and old skool. Yet they still listen to my stuff and they're not sure if they should be listening to my stuff or not. It's hard to explain. But do you ever feel like that when someone asks you "What do you think of Shael Riley's music in general?"
