  1. Read Watership Down back in highschool I loved it... The movie is good too.
  2. haha no way did you sound harsh there thanks dude, and also thanks as always majeliss First off, no drum loops in this song, all my programming, so maybe I'd better mix things up just a little more? I kind of agree with the lead synth, now I have access to some other things so I will see if I can find something better... The out of tune thing is purposeful, so I am glad you liked it. I listened to the bass on this WIP in my car the other day, and 2:08 WAY overpowered the song lol, so you are right. I will see about mixing that bass up when I get back around to working on this... It kind of laid the groundwork on the entire song, so I left it as is without really thinking about it. WILL SEE WHAT I CAN DO THAR. Also you are right about 2:30 on... I kind of left off there without figuring out what to do next, but I think I have something in mind now, I just gotta get off my ass (or on my ass) and do it. Thanks!
  3. thanks So does anyone actually have any input to give? Or am I just talking to a wall :/
  4. my judgelove is my judgehate... or is it the other way around? I HATE YOU ALL LOVE MONOBROW
  5. I disagree here. Yeah, I mean it's Jeremy Soule, but after listening to this a few times lately, I think there's just a lot of depth to this song that you find (in most of his song really) and can come to appreciate. Anyway, maybe this isn't the most heartfelt song he's ever done, but I find that a lot of his songs concentrate on atmosphere more than what I'd call musical grandeur, and the atmosphere is really really awesome. I love the soundscape created. It puts a lot of despair and urgency into the theme of Terra that I didn't know existed, but can now appreciate.
  6. well this link ain't working for me is it working for anyone else?
  7. this was fun I enjoyed it :J thanks to everyone who participated
  8. and a couple mini critique whatevers posted for you guys but take whatever I say with loads of salt
  9. Yo Neko, This is cool, at first I was a little worried because the first minute or so was pretty much a straight cover, but when you chilled things out a little bit, I liked that a whole lot... And the next part is pretty nice, I can see what you mean about vocals for the clean part. I am just hoping that you can really rip it up for ending, and just do some really nice interpretation and soloing. My only qualm here so far is the cymbals in the first minute or so of the song. I know you're really just playing the theme here and getting us ready for the rest, but I really don't like the hollow sound they give the mix... That could be just me, as I know next to nothing about metal and the more realistic drumkits. On a whole, I think you could afford to make your crashes and cymbals on the whole a little louder to make this song more dynamic, as they are pretty much in the background the whole time... You need to figure out a way to bring them out a little more. (And I am guessing that is hard to do because you have so much focus on your guitar, which is taking up a lot of the spectrum) Anyway, the hit is fine, the bass is fine afaik, the guitarwork is fine as well, and I really liked that part at 1:20 ish... Very nice.
  10. Here, alternate hosting especially for you :J (I have no idea why fileupyours doesn't work for you) The Song The Source Anyway enjoy :I/
  11. really really busy lately afaik working a lot, I hardly have a chance to talk to him
  12. This is a song from Brandish (snes). The source tune is the STAGECLEAR song, which has a really fun bassline that I expanded on. Brandish is basically a really fun static bird's eye j-rpg that apparently next to no one has played or liked enough to finish the first level (it gets so fun after the first level) Anyway, you should check out the music for this game (everyone of you goddamnit) I remixed a song that's kind of catchy, but isn't even my favorite from this game. HERE IT IS This is honestly my first attempt at this kind of song (with fast paced, straight forward drums and bass focus, synthy-ish w/e.) I have no idea what genre this would be classified as though... Just tell me what you like, what gets on your nerves, and towards the end, what you think I should to do close this one for good (as in wound, as in I have a million WIP scars) Just tell me if you like it! Please ahhh! And don't pay much attention to much after 2:30... What can I do to make this song better? Critique whatever you wish. edit: Alternate hosting: The Song The Source
  13. Road to Perdition (or anything Thomas Newman) but especially: Road to Perdition
  14. haha yes, I love FFIV so goddamn much Okay my first advice to you is, you have some nice drumwork, but you really need to kick it up a notch... After a while that hit/clap panned to the right over and over doesn't cut it for me, (have it do some of it's own stuff over there, then maybe slowly pan it back to the middle then to the left slightly in sync with the rest of your drumwork to make it probably more interesting? lol hooo) :I think that is the best way to explain it: Anyway, that bass is nice for a while, but I think you really should also mix things up with it instead of having it just do that pattern over and over through most of the song (like you do at 4:40ish)... Just do that more...especially after the second half. Also I think you use some of those generic default sounding samples nicely, they are very quirky (like the tick and clap) but I think you could afford to after a while switch these sounds up for something better, or at least layer them with something else... *after all, this song is one that originally I took very seriously when I first heard it* A good place for this would be around after 2:47 (it'd probably add to that cool chip solo you have going, you could really emphasize it with more emphasis on that beat with other hits) After that part, I really start to get a little annoyed by the ticks and claps, like I want more out of the song, and instead it just kind of repeats. Really, 2 more minutes of the same stuff isn't good enough. It felt like I had the song on repeat instead and it had started over. Up to the halfway point, you have built the song to great potential, now you just gotta fledge things out for your second half more. I know there are some nuances and things you've added, but I just feel it ain't enough, no offense. After the halfway point, I think you could afford a little more meat in the middle range in some parts of the song (strings, pads) Or maybe some more organic orchestral harmony layered with things you've already got if you want. I just think you have a lot of things going very nicely, but you could afford to try to mix up what you've had going in the song a little more (use one line of notes from a chord progression previously used by a pad somewhere else in the song) It could also help making the song sound less random and fuse it all together. Just concentrate on making everything flow better. Also I think the ending would do better if it sounded a little more organic and orchestrated... Or just way more fledged out because it's basically just a repeat of the climax at 2:30 or w/e. For example, you have some drumroll sounding things, but wouldn't a real snare sound better the second time around? Okay anyway, I don't mean to sound harsh, but that is basically just because I really feel the vibe you're going for, and want this song to be so much more (because it has the potential for it) Excellent interpretation of a really simple theme.

  22. Some tracks I like, some I don't. Honestly I think I expected better or something, like the second coming of Christ in a remix? Some of these are superb, one or two really do move me, don't get me wrong, but I'm not feeling it quite as much as I think I should. I wonder why? This is a first impression though, maybe I will give this a few more listens.
