i think it should be a private server, like mentioned before, and that it should be a password-protected thing. we can pass out passwords through PM. all upstanding members of the community should be mods, so that we don't have to worry about not having a mod around to boot a griefer. last night, i cleaned off the top of my mountain to be flat (except for an awesome tall pinnacle thing) and am in the process of boxing it in with cobblestone and refined stone. looks pretty sweet so far. does anyone know how to make redstone switches? i'd like to make doors that mobs can't operate, and i'm assuming the only way to do that is to make a controlled door.

fishy, i'd be happy to help you with registration if you are short on cash. i'm sure others would pitch in too for the chance to hang with you =) don't forget you can still get registrations at the door. it's 50$ instead of, say, 35$, but it's there if need be.

i would prefer just to enjoy a survival-mode with a bunch of other people co-inhabitating the world. maybe that's just me.

i was bummed when you showed up and then disappeared for two days =( we didn't get much time to hang out. like i said, i'm still not sure, but it's looking like i'll be able to afford it. which would be awesome. still looking for someone to drive with me. i'd be coming from western central NY, south of rochester. anyone from near buffalo, rochester, or syracuse is close enough to make it work. we've got a guest bedroom at my house, so we'd be able to put you up if you had to stay over.

i'd love to play as well. i don't play heavily, but i'd like to get involved.

i haven't found lava yet, unfortunately. as soon as i find it, i'm planning on building a new mineshaft based around that area specifically. i might be abandoning my current place for an area that isn't so damn high up in the air. i built a bunker on the top of an awesome-looking mountain, but it's so annoying to have to climb down two hundred sets of stairs (circular, of course) to get to my main dig site deep beneath the earth.

and here i was, about to offer my services for at least helping you find the right stuff. oh well

aw, i was hoping better than fifth place. not bad for four hours of work, though! so, how do we 'claim' our prize (primarily the CDs, i'm excited to hear some of your newer stuff)?

questions that i can't find answers for: 1. how do you add stuff like the time, location, etc. to your HUD? in single player, that is. i don't want to touch multiplayer yet, i'm enjoying what i'm doing in my little dirt bunker in the hills so far. 2. i know there's a water source block...what does it look like? how does it function? i can't find anything, and the minecraft wiki doesn't really tell me much. 3. i die a lot. besides having to go retrieve my stuff, is there any other penalty?

i haven't ever played this game, but i really want to give it a shot. is it an online account? like, can i play on several computers and access the same thing? is there a tut online anywhere that's worth reading first so that i don't go and burn my house down right away?

that's the only reason i played it, BS. i wanted to see what the hype was. the movie in the middle of the game was ok, but as a whole i hated it. dual dragons, they already released GoW I and II combined for only 40 bucks, and the Sly compilation is going to be only 40$ as well. the only set of games that i'd pay more than that for would be all three of the PS2 FF games - i'd be comfortable with 50 or 60, since it's three games. but more than 20$ a pop and they'd have trouble moving units.

i'm much more interested in the HD-izing of these games than the 3D. people who think 3D is awesome saw Avatar a few times too many - it really, REALLY doesn't work well in the standard living room, and with games that haven't been optimized to the level of Avatar, it slaughters your eyes after a few hours. it's the re-releasing of these games, with better art, that matters. first God of War I and II, now ICO and SotC...you'd want to look at other major series that would likely get updates. Kingdom Hearts is a no-brainer, particularly considering the cartoony nature of the graphics. FFX combined with either X-2 or XII (or maybe both) are also no-brainers. i only include X-2 because it's one of the top-rated games of all time over in J-land, i'd personally prefer X/XII. beyond that, i don't know what games i'd expect to see. those are the big console-specific money-makers that they wouldn't just make a sequel on the PS3 for (like Twisted Metal and Gran Tourismo). maybe the old MGS games? but i'd expect that to be a multi-platform deal, since MGS sold very well on the xbox as well as the ps2. DMC or RE are possibilities, but with the total series reboot to both of them (DMC upcoming, RE with RE5) i doubt it.
