Looking to build a cheap ass comp for my dad

hah, parallel port printing? that's REALLY old, most printers in the last ten years use BIDI, which is the super-long port that has the printer near it on most motherboards. biggest port in regular use today (just slightly bigger than IDE). -

the best thing about this remix is that you made all those patches and everything. want to send them my way? -

i didn't bother to read the rest of the thread, but the first post was awesome.

Get zircon's 6th album, FITTEST! (Xbox 360 soundtrack!)
prophetik music replied to Liontamer's topic in General Discussion
sounds cool, looking forward to it. man, a lot of community composers are getting involved on XBLA. anso, you, me...who else is out there doing this stuff too? -
i'm a christian, went to a christian college, grew up in a christian home, go to church, all that stuff. i cuss occasionally (as people on the pokemon project know). all that said, i agree with everything this dude said. he should post more. in regards to the mix: love the beat, love the variety in instrumentation you've used here. i think it's awesome! i saved it (with a slightly altered name) and will continue to listen to it as a landmark in our musical community. i just wish that this landmark had been done with a bit more 'oomph'. to a point, i agree with escariot. i'm not as hard-line as he was, but i really think that more could have been done, particularly since what's here is what someone like me (who slathers on ethnic percussion like jam on biscuits) would use as the backing track for a song, nothing more. hell, i HAVE been using percussion tracks like this for songs on the game i'm scoring currently. i realize that everything here was performed live, but with some slight alterations it'd be possible to do it all using various loops from different sets. i'm not into that as much. there's been several mixes in the past that have taken extremely minimalist source tunes (my track for link's awakening comes to mind, source is just an arpeggio, nothing else) and added melodic material that was wholly derived from the arranger's mind rather than the composer's original music. i LOVE this idea! expanding on the original composer's intentions is the point of remixing. all that said, this is still a great piece by OCR standards of percussion performance. it ain't landmark in the world of percussion ensemble rep, obviously, as referenced by the significant lack of time changes, timbral exploration, and pitched instrumentation, but it's still a really awesome piece that's fun to listen to and is a good 'war music' kind of piece. doug i love you ...you know that right edit: before someone repudiates my post, listen to a few days worth of percussion ensemble music. then attempt to coach your response in words that make sense for this discussion (aka, arguing that the usage of a variety of afro-cuban hand percussion counts as timbral exploration, which i don't think it does). been performing in a group for years, and i feel that i know what the standard is for this stuff. you probably don't (unless your name is doug or you perform this rep regularly). so don't go saying OMG AWESUM U SUK before you actually know what you're saying. and no, listening to metal or something doesn't classify as knowing anything about classical percussion ensemble repertoire.

the foxconn board is actually pretty nice, all told, and has a radeon 2100 internal. but this asus model and this gigabyte board both have good onboard video. would that work? -

for a cheapo computer, i'd go with an athlon processor. they're way cheaper as a whole. go with a 3ghz windsor for the processor (90$). the windsor is a little older than the 7300's design but will compare favorably for the cost. for the mobo, go with either a cheaper or name-brand model. they're about the same in terms of quality, so pick what features you want. most boards over 65$ are designed for overclocking or extreme stability in weird conditions, so this should work fine. for ram, the performance difference between 1 and 2 gigs is significant, so use some of the money you saved to buy 2 1gb sticks of G.SKILL ram. you could go cheaper, but it's only 30$. that'll hold you over. the cpu comes with a fan if you buy retail, so you're set there. what're you doing for an optical drive? LG's popular burner is only 25$ and it's probably one of the best out there. cost is so close to a -rom drive you should just get a burner. also, with this stuff being as low-heat as it is, you should look into the microATX desktop and microATX mini tower for case sizes. they're REALLY small, and would power this really easily. just look for free shipping deals and you're golden - WAY cheaper than in a store, really. and as long as your psu has at least 250w, you'll be fine for power. hope this helps. -

that'd be pretty cool, man, if you could participate a little more. you know i'm really into the one mix you've got on this project so far. -

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl free on Gametap!

it was pretty good, IMO. people expected it to be a pc version of halo or resident evil. it wasn't. of course, it's an FPS with a weak story, which makes it a dime a dozen nowadays. -
OCR01843 - Civilization IV "Destined for Greatness"
prophetik music replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
really? where? i missed them, then. of course, i did the vocal processing in...6/08, according to my files. so it's been a while. although, considering i had a pretty low-pitched drone on perfect fifths and turned it into everything that you heard from those two pitches, i thought it turned out pretty good. -
it's a few hours long if you know how to do everything. it's way longer the first time through. of course, it's also way better if you buy it on sale, like i did when it was featured download of the week on XBLA. wait until steam puts it on sale, and buy it then.

penny arcade is a community with a lot of DnD players. it seems most of the people around here aren't as into this kind of stuff.
