  1. Hahaha, that's a great idea. Or like whenever you walk out of your front door.
  2. Thanks for keeping us updated. I'd get this immediately if I had a keyboard.
  3. I agree with all of this. I say his down-B should be the body slam/pound thing, but we already know it isn't...also yeah, his barge ought to be side-B, but I'm pretty sure that's something to do with his motorcycle. Haha, maybe his B neutral could switch caps (/pots/whatever) between Bull Wario, Dragon Wario, Jet Wario, and so on, each with different abilities and strengths...and maybe really rarely it'll stick you randomly with one of his "hindrance" forms, like snowman Wario, fat Wario, tiny Wario, ball-o-string Wario... And yeah, before you say it I know none of that will ever happen but you can't deny it would be amazing. Really I think they should just have his character entirely based on the Land games and keep the stage from Wario Ware to cover everything. Haha which reminds me, a Kitchen Island stage would be great.
  4. Yeah whenever I play smash with friends I demand we have items on low, and they all always complain. Personally I think it's actually a lot more fun with items. Anyway, this new wario stage is incredible. I can't wait. Still though, it makes me a bit sad that they've totally ignored what the wario games were REALLY all about, which were the "land" games. I hope at the very least you'll be able to switch into his old outfit if you like.
  5. You realize that the ending of Sonic and Knuckles is just a medley of all the songs in the game, right? It isn't it's own song - that's why Project Chaos didn't cover it. You're not likely to find a remix of this. It was the same deal as Sonic 2 - the ending doesn't actually have any new themes in it. They used the Sonic 3 credits theme because it actually WAS a different theme than the rest of the game, so it worked well to finish the album.
  6. I liked the SNES DKC3 soundtrack far more than the GBA one. It was just so much more atmospheric and awesome. In the GBA version, the songs didn't really seem to fit the environments somehow. I'll agree that the Mill theme in the GBA version was great, but I also really liked the SNES song for that area. My favorites on the SNES were the waterfall level theme and the canyon theme. If I ever get into doing remixes as a break from all these originals I've been working on, I may work on DKC3 a bit as it's very unloved, and I'd ALMOST say the soundtrack is better at times than stuff found on the other two - but the other two just have that nostalgia. Overall, probably DKC2's soundtrack was best.
  7. I admit there were a few uses of 3D in nsmb that seemed kind of gimmicky, ie when you step on those platforms that circle around the brick columns and mario goes way out in front of the bricks and around - something that's obviously intended to make you go "Whooaaahh 3d!!" instead of being useful. That said, I thought at least the Mario model worked really well. Having a 3d character in a 2d environment I thought worked surprisingly nicely. And I mean, it COULD be done right with Metroid too. On another note, I wouldn't say no to a Hunters 2.
  8. Personally, I LIKED the way 3d was used in NSMB, and if it was used nearly the same way (much more 2d than 3d - you guys all noticed that most of the enemies were actually sprites, right?) in said metroid game, I think it would be fantastic. NSMB wouldn't have looked nearly as crisp or clean if it had been entirely 2D. Now anyway, I've got an important question. WHY is everyone comparing Prime 3 to Bioshock? And no, I don't mean to give some tired bullshit argument about graphics vs. gameplay, I'm merely wondering why people are saying one game is better than the other. Just a look at IGN within the next couple days will show you what I'm talking about - and not just their huge comparison article they just put up, but the user reviews of both games are ridiculous - I've seen 0s of both games on there given LITERALLY because say for example, person A is rabid about prime 3 and person B zeroed it but loves bioshock, so person A zeroes Bioshock in "revenge". I've even seen people on OCR comparing the two games. How did this connection/rivalry between two almost entirely opposite games possibly get established (aside from the fact that they were released relatively close to each other)?
  9. Awesome, I've just set up DOSBox with your help and an abandonia tutorial. I can FINALLY play Magic Carpet 2 again after all these years. This game has a surprisingly great design that I think would even hold up today. If a modern sequel/remake were made of this game with state-of-the-art graphics, it would definitely be in my top 10 of all time.
  10. You clearly have never played Wario Land II, which is one of the best games ever made. Also, haha, the image of fat snake still all serious and all that made me chuckle.
  11. Thanks for the warning. I HATE spoilers so much.
  12. Not Prime 2, but Prime, which is still equally awesome. Prime 2 has been beaten in 1:43, which is still damn impressive and can be seen here - but it isn't nearly as entertaining/mind-blowing as 1:03 Prime. Anyway, I think I'm going to leave this thread forever! Don't want even minor spoilers.
  13. Many thanks to herograw for new hosting! Hopefully it'll be more reliable than the others. Also, I really appreciate your comments, sgx and Angelic Sound Factory. And yeah outlander, I rarely go into these with a plan. I do try to keep them all from sounding like each other, though. About that - I'm going into this second album with the intention of trying a lot of new styles and genres, so be expecting somewhat of a departure from Antechamber. I've updated the site with herograw's new mirror!
  14. Yeah penfold, check out metroid2002.com and check out the stuff you're able to skip via that menu on the left in the Metroid Prime section. Some of it's pretty amazing. And if that's not amazing enough, check out almost all of them used in a 1:03 speedrun (click the link on that page that says 1:03) of the game. Definitely worth watching.
  15. I also loved prime 2, and to be honest the LESS prime 3 deviates from Prime and Prime 2, the better. Why fix what ain't broke? If the only reason it got a 9.5 on IGN instead of higher is that it didn't "innovate" compared to the first two, I'll be very happy. EDIT: Yeah, FH, the reason I think it's important is just to get a bit of background on dark samus and all that. I know the game doesn't offer much, but I think it's important for continuity. And to be honest, all I'd really meant was that it was more important to continuity than the first Prime. I think both games are great and worth playing before the third.
  16. I really think you should get all three. The first because it's one of the best games ever made, and the second because it's still fun as hell and it seems to be more important to the continuity and to understanding the third one.
  17. Radiowar: Thanks a lot! I always appreciate the comments. To tell the truth, Fulcrum was the earliest track made for this set - I posted it here once a year or so ago and decided to throw it in with all the new ones. Glad to hear you like it! SGX: Thanks, I'd already checked out jamendo earlier and I might actually consider having torrents done by them - they seem to do a good job, but I'm wondering how they deal with rights and all that. Would they "own" the album, meaning I can't post it myself anywhere unless its through their torrents, or is it totally free and they just help distribute, or what? Anyway, thanks for checking this out - I've listened to a lot of your music as well and thoroughly enjoyed. OutLander: Sweet, good to hear it. About video game music - I pretty much just sit down and start working with no ideas and each one forms itself. The only one I really intended to be a reference to VGM would be Superbox 3000 - but other than that, I wouldn't be surprised if video game music and OCRemixes influenced me somewhat as I grew up with and enjoyed them just as all you guys did. Actually, I've had several people tell me some of my music (particularly some of my older ones) reminds them of Metroid Prime, which I take as an incredible compliment, and when I was first getting into music I was really into with that game, so maybe that subconsciously gives me a few ideas.
  18. Oh, right. Aside from the opportunity for a shameless bump of this album, I'll mention here that I now finally have the paypal page set up on my website, which can be found below in my sig. So feel free, as I said there, to become one of my best friends! Every amount means a lot. Now, to make this a little more than just a shameless bump, I'll tell you guys I've got a lot in the works! - A site restructure is on the way, intended to suit more than one album, etc. It might wind up looking a bit better, too, once it's done. - Three tracks are sounding really good at the moment for my following album, due out early to mid 2008. - Even further along than that is my entry for the Original Video Game Music Contest over at VGMix, the current theme of which is a "high-speed racing game" - and my entry's sounding pretty good at the moment! I'll post the finished entry in WIP:Other come early September as the contest comes to a close. Depending on what theme the album winds up taking, this track may be featured, making it the first public release from the set. But all that's still up in the air. - I'm now SOLD OUT of the super shiny black first edition of the physical CD! Thanks to everyone who bought one. Now keep in mind that you can still buy the album - I just need to have more made. And of course, always remember that buying is only to support me - you can always still download the album for free. So yeah. Overall, stay tuned because there ought to be a lot more coming in the next couple months! I might set up a mailing list to coincide with the site restructure.
  19. Haha, don't get the wrong idea - I've played all the way through both Primes probably 10 times apiece. I fully expect to do the same with 3 - but the first time I play it should be special. Whatever, I'll work something out. But if I want time to play it at my leisure on the big system, it's going to have to be next summer... sigh...
  20. QUESTION - buy Prime 3 on release day and play it on small TV with small stereo system, OR wait 3 months for a single week where I can play it on a huge 16:9 tv with a super surround system - but at the end of said week, I have to leave again.

I generally say that the more obscure the electronica is, the better. Try to go for stuff that everyone HASN'T heard. Just get out there and sample bits of lots of different artists. The iTunes music store can help a lot with that - it lets you quickly listen to lots of artists. A word about why there are so many genre classifications. If you consider ambient, downtempo stuff and quick, glitchy drum and bass the same genre for the sole reason that both are made on a computer, you've got to fix your classifications. You compare it to metal. Metal may be broken into a lot of sub-genres, but each is somewhat similar. Just the term "electronic music" or electronica is far broader because it describes a way in which music is made - it isn't a genre in and of itself. That said, "Troubleman" does some fantastic groovy stuff, but it's really different and unclassifiable (as is most of the music I like). (Troubleman is an alias of Mark Pritchard, who now does background music for a rap group, but his solo work, I believe, is far better.) Recommendations are hard, though, because I don't know what genre you're actually looking for. There's plenty of free, great music found either here or linked to from here at OCR - Overcoat's thread is a great place to start, and also check out free albums members offer. As I said, the more obscure the better.
  22. Oooh, you're probably right. Yeah, hope so.
  23. So, I just saw something kind of odd in an IGN AU interview. You can see it here: http://ds.ign.com/articles/814/814126p1.html Where the guy is talking about the games catered to "hardcore" gamers that are coming out, he mentions Smash Bros. Melee. Now, I'm assuming he just made a mistake and meant to say Brawl (especially since just before that he referred to Mario Kart Wii as Super Mario Kart). So, with that in mind, I'm worried because of the following quote: Is it possible that Brawl was delayed to next year, they haven't announced it yet, and Greg let it slip? Or did I just miss something entirely?
  24. Man, I don't get why you'd want to watch this. I'm debating even watching the most recent vids on the Preview Channel.
