OCR01632 - Donkey Kong Country "Riptide"
Antipode replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Man, the front page surprised me today. This was a great track and reminded me quite a bit of the style that I used to really love about the songs on this site (and that I haven't heard a lot of recently). This really brings me back, in addition to just being an atmospheric, enveloping, and generally kickass track. Great work. -
OCR01631 - Metal Slug 3 "Light 'Em Up"
Antipode replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Fantastic return! And from one of my favorite games of all time, no less. Glad to see you come back with more quality. BTW, the inclusion of the "main" Metal Slug theme was a nice touch. -
Agreed. I always got the impression that it wasn't "intended" - drifting and boosting was included, people found out about snaking, so nintendo said "that's a technique for advanced players". That's what it's always seemed like to me.
-
I thought the same thing. Hopefully they'll do some work on that in the next four months. And less like he's shouting in a bathroom.

Starfox 64?

I might be with Dhsu on this one - DL3 was just way too awesome. Now all that aside, this does still look great. I'd almost consider it if the L-button on my DS wasn't blown...I really should call Nintendo's repair line thing because I don't feel like trying to open it myself. But pretty much that limits me to just Phantom Hourglass out of all these new games....
-
Orrrrr maybe it's already done and they're just trying to give mario galaxy some space (EDIT: No pun intended). That seems a lot more likely.
-
That's the new japan release date. So yeah, what are you talkin' about? (Unless you live in Japan)
-
Can't deny it would be pretty great to have a fight between mario, sonic, mc and snake.
-
So now we'll have to see some sonic items. Personally I think it'd be great if they implemented the three shields - the water shield bounces you up to your previous jump height upon landing (and I guess protects you from squirtle/fludd's water attacks), the lightning shield gives you a third mid-air jump (and protects you from the electric attacks of pikachu, pichu if he's in it, and Ness if he's in it), and the fire shield allows you to attack and rocket quickly back and forth across the stage (and protects you from charizard, bowser and mario's fire attacks). Getting like 10-20% of damage should kill the shield.
-
It would be great if sonic's down b was the spindash...and if you press it over and over again it would charge up, just like the old sonics - releasing down shoots you away. THAT would be great.

Wii Fit basically costs $75 in Japan, according to this: http://wii.ign.com/articles/826/826130p1.html

AWESOME. And I guess super sonic is his final smash. To be honest I also wouldn't be surprised if rayman made it in (what with the Wii-exclusive raving rabbids 2).

I'd agree - and if you think XP looks ugly but is too practical to leave behind, check out how XP Media Center looks. Out of the box with no mods it has a much better graphical style than normal XP had, it has some of the media center functionality of vista and it's still XP. I've been very happy with it so far. EDIT: Wow, DJP, I'd heard about all the DRM issues and all that but never the problems with basic file i/o...I'll have to read into this some more. (As a side note, I heard something about an upcoming XP service pack 3? Could this update at all possibly degrade my performance with some apps in any way - aka do I need to be worried about installing it? My OS is legal, so I'm not too concerned, but still.)
-
Dammit...the new equivalent DK rap except worse.
-
I'll be honest - I'm really glad the gun is toned down from what we were thinking from the trailers. Like, it's SUPPOSED to be an emergency pistol that does next to nothing except stun enemies - not some quick laser-whip that can allow you to cause more damage than normal samus can. Samus is really supposed to be a lot weaker without the suit. Glad to see that she is.

Hey again all! It's been a long while since I've posted anything in good old WIP:O, mostly due to my work on my recent album, Antechamber (which is still available free) and my desire to withhold all the tracks (excluding preview sets) until the actual release of said album, which took place a couple months ago. That said, I recently became involved with the Original VG Music Contest, or "OVGMcon", in which a number of entrants make video game songs within a month's time, based on a constricting theme. It's the same idea as the CMC mostly, except that it began at VGMix rather than OCR. Last month, the month I participated in, was the very first iteration of this new contest (the second one is going on right now - there's actually an OCR thread about it here for anyone who's interested in more details). The theme for that first month was "a futuristic, post-apocalyptic, high-speed race" a-la F-Zero GX. More specifically, the BGM for a race taking place in this sort of game. So the following track, Hothead, was my entry for this competition, where I was really happy to find out it took first place! Right-click, save-as here. Any comments are highly appreciated. Hothead will also likely become the first or second track on my upcoming new album (due out early to mid-2008 depending on how fast I work) which means it's also something of a preview. I'll take the opportunity to give you guys a couple progress updates (as I've decided not to do so on my site until I finish reorganizing and redesigning it - still plugging away). First, I've just completed a new track called "Fields of Black", which will follow Hothead on the album. I believe it may be my highest-quality track yet, which I'm really pleased with so far. Second is OVGMcon #2 - as I won the first contest, I picked the theme for the second, which is "A Nighttime Village" - the full theme can be found through that link above. I chose this theme not only because I believed it would work well to follow a high-speed, high-energy theme but also because I've had a concept in mind (but hadn't yet worked on) for my album which would exactly suit this theme. Kill two birds with one stone. I think it's coming along nicely so far. After that point I won't include any further competition tracks in the album unless they're of high enough quality - I have lots of concept ideas for this album I don't want taken over by stuff everyone's already heard (and more importantly, themes I didn't come up with)! So - once I get about three more tracks completed for this album, I'll give you guys the first Preview Set, just as I did with Antechamber. 'Till then, happy listening!

OverClocked ReMix Design ?'s and Issues
Antipode replied to Liontamer's topic in Site Issues & Feedback
Just thought I'd mention - from the remix by game listing, the link to Metal Slug 2 and the remix within is inaccessible likely because of the listing involving a slash (super vehicle 001/ii). See below... http://www.ocremix.org/game/metal-slug-2-super-vehicle-001/ii-ng/ -
I see Metallic Mario is open now. I might try screwing around with it and see what happens. Probably nothing, as before. Good luck to all involved anyway. EDIT: Nevermind, I got too much on my plate. Already backing out.

Plumber's Bane (*Finished version)
Antipode replied to Random Hero's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Any news on this? -
Just something interesting I noticed - the IGN review said Halo 3 had the best OST of any video game ever. That's pretty intense. I'm sure I'll disagree.

Agreed on all counts. This is in my top 10 from this site without a doubt. -
Kart Rider: Free Korean online Mario Kart clone
Antipode replied to anthonium's topic in General Discussion
Haha the blocking vid cracked me up. -
Yeah, they said 70+ hours on IGN for TP too, and my first playthrough took 40, 25 on my second (getting everything but poe souls on both). I'm figuring it'll probably be less than 15 hours on PH for most of us. EDIT:

Pretty sure he was talking about preordering brawl... But ok
