Sonic 3 & Knuckles: Project Chaos - History
Antipode replied to k u n g f u c h i c k e n's topic in Projects
For some reason I just assumed the switch to vBulletin would happen at 1500, just since it's a milestone. But maybe not. -
Wow, this looks great! This may be the first pokemon game I get since Red/Blue. Trading and battling online would be a great guilty pleasure.
-
This sounds like my cuppa tea. I'm not sure how much I'll be able to kick myself into gear, because I have to finish my "Transport" album and do a track for another project, but if I can manage that then I'll be in for sure.
-
You ought to just have the bio titled "Ganondorf". As a general message, it's great to see this is almost done! I look forward to it.

Full-length remix album in the works; I need your help
Antipode replied to Benjamin Briggs's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
First of all - I LOVE the concept for this album. This stuff would be great. I would almost definitely buy this album. I love what I hear in the preview. My suggestions for others - - The train ride theme from the first Wario Land for Gameboy. (Emphasis on this one) - Maybe the main overworld theme from Metroid 2. - You might be able to do some cool stuff with the main overworld theme from Super Mario Bros 2. - Perhaps one of the main themes from Kirby's Dreamland would work. Get lots of good and unexpected Gameboy tunes and I'll be happy as a clam. If I come up with any other suggestions, I'll be back. -
The unstarred bosses I see there that I think must be on the project: Captain Syrup from the Wario games King K Rool from the DK games Ridley from the Metroid games All the others I didn't really care for or haven't heard enough of. I like all the starred ones. Also, I'm sorta interested in this - but I have a lot to do. I don't know if I'll be able to finish something. We'll see what happens.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles: Project Chaos - History
Antipode replied to k u n g f u c h i c k e n's topic in Projects
When this project was introduced way back in March of '05, I was ambitious and I was just learning how to do this type of thing. I finished and submitted something that really was pretty bad (well, it was the first song I'd ever made), and I'm really quite grateful that someone better than myself now has the track I had done then. Now, to put it simply, I know what I'm doing - I've done many originals and I may attempt another remix at some point - maybe an OCR submission. But really it was this project that got me going and it helped me to learn a lot about the process. At any rate, I think it's great that this project has finally, finally been finished and will be released soon - and I want to extend a hearty congratulations to all the remixers in the album for providing what may look to be the best project yet. P.S. - Excellent site - very slick and professional. -
Just out of curiousity, what about Mario Hoops 3 on 3? What makes it so bad?

If I can find anywhere that will take my DS for at least $100, I'll buy the Lite. I've always been a fan, sometimes obsessively, with the "squishy" buttons of the original GBA. The SP and the DS have these "clicky", cell-phone like buttons that hurt my thumb after awhile. The Lite has the old style buttons. Plus it's smaller, brighter, lighter, and I can start fresh with a new bottom screen which I'll take better care of by using those screen protector sheets. Plus, the L button on my old DS is giving out, so it would be nice to have that fixed. Plus, I like the design of the Lite. All that for 30 bucks sounds like a good deal to me. If I'm going to play the DS as excessively as I do, I might as well have the best DS I can.
-
That's what I was afraid of. Whatever, I'll still get it.

I've got a question for you - in watching three NSMB gameplay movies on IGN, I heard three slightly different versions of the exact same song. Is that a problem? Is the music really annoying like that because much of it is the same? Or was it just chance that those three movies happened to have those and there's actually quite a bit more music than I've heard?
-
It seems like the same pattern for me too, actually - the only ones I play regularly and keep coming back to are the ones I have that support wifi. Incidentally, on a totally different subject, am I the only one looking forward to this Konductra? Innovative and slick puzzle game coming to DS with wifi support. Looks interesting - it took a long time to get a publisher. http://ds.ign.com/articles/670/670878p1.html (Outdated, but describes the game)

Oh, here's one. You guys are probably gonna laugh, but: The Metroid Prime fight from Metroid Prime Pinball. Oh my god, you have no idea how ridiculously hard that fight is. First you have to aim just right and shoot into one of his arms. Then you have to shoot up this corridor and "energize" your pinball. Then you shoot back up where his arm was, and since you lowered it, it's open, and you hit his face. The ball de-energizes and you start over. Do it ten times. Sounds easy, right? Well there are three problems - first, the corridor is really small and hard to aim at - second, you have a short time while his arm is stunned before he brings it back up and blocks again - and third, probably the worst part about the fight, is that every so often he fires an energy ring which quickly expands over the entire table. If it touches you you get badly damaged, and you can't dodge it unless you're already inside of that corridor I mentioned. To really explain just how hard this is, I only managed to hit him with the energized ball ONCE before I lost all of my lives. I assume it's ten times, because of how little his life bar went down.

The Chykka fight in Metroid Prime 2 on Hard mode was long, draining, and difficult, I thought. I remember that being a huge pain. Coop: I remember the cartoon, but never heard of the game.

I'd say probably not, just because people who wanted projects for non-remixed games would probably explode. -

Ok, Hadyn, I'll PM you in a few hours with a good loopable version of it. I suppose it could work - but I'm just hoping it's not going to confuse anyone with the real Marble Garden mix, which is undoubtedly better than mine (being Danny . But all right, I'll get back to you in awhile. -

Urgh, I thought this might happen - I was working on a background tune...with sorta the marble garden melody...and it got more and more of a melody...and it wound up being a full-scale remix. So count me out on the bg stuff, unless I manage to try another one. It seems like this always happens to me... -

And I'll make sure it doesn't really have too much of a melody, as, of course, it's bg music. -

Hah, I might work on some background music for the site. I'll see what happens. I'm thinking a version of one of the menu themes from the Sonic Mega Collection... -
Hey dafydd - it might be cool to show what form Ridley was in in each Metroid game - Meta Ridley in prime, both Normal and Metal Ridley in Zero mission, X Ridley (not sure of the exact name) in Fusion. EDIT - I'll do Wario tomorrow.

This may be my all-time favorite that you've done to date. I hope to hear some more stuff from Mazedude here soon! -

Heh, I think that was the point... -
Not the "hardest of all time", maybe, but in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door the Pit of 100 Trials is hard by itself - and THEN you have to fight that massive dragon at the bottom. Takes about two and a half hours to get there, only to be killed in the first turn by that damn thing. (For me, anyway.) Tips from anyone who has beaten it on what I should do? Any badges that might help?
