  1. I don't think Sonic fans are that hard to please, Stevo. I'm a big Sonic fan from way back when, and since SA2, I've constantly been disappointed by the franchise. All I want, really, is my old Sonic physics back. All the new Mario games are great. Why? Because they feel similar to the old titles. Anything you could do in the older games, you can do in the new ones... there's a massive sense of continuity in the controls. No matter what new 2D Mario game comes out, you can always just slip into it, comfortably, and know what you're in for. The same cannot be said about Sonic games. Every new 2D Sonic game feels different, and no thanks to Dimps, gets progressively worse. Sonic feels slower than ever. And why does he, the fastest thing on Earth, have to rely on goddamn boost pads and horseshit like that to achieve even a modest speed? I say turn the world upside down and give Sonic to Nintendo. At least they know how to make a good 2D platformer... and they'd understand what the fans want out of it. The only Sonic games I am going to look forward to now are, oddly enough, the ones where they chuck the poor blue bastard in a Kart. Sonic and SEGA All Stars Racing has been best thing to happen to the Sonic franchise for years. Sumo Digital, I love you. You made a game that I cherish even more than Mario Kart (any of em').
  2. Ok, this got through ages ago... just kinda wondering when it's gonna be posted... it's been, like ages haha Hope it hasn't slipped through the cracks...
  3. I've been listening to this mix for DAYS. ReMix of the Week it is on my podcast too!!! But THAT section at 1:24... WOW. It's totally, TOTALLY everything to me. I'm SO all about that section. Reminds me of every Bond theme and every 70's TV show theme all mixed together. Love it man, seriously. The intro also reminds me of that brilliant CV mix you did years back. Words cannot express how much I love this remix. Really, they can't.
  4. That song makes me cry... it's extremely beautiful, and one of my absolute favourites. Especially that unofficial Super Smash Brothers Brawl version... wow. Now this wasn't the very first VGM track I ever heard, but the 2 tracks that got me into game music was Starlight Zone from Sonic The Hedgehog and The Boss theme from Castle of Illusion. It was at that point I began recording all my Mega Drive games soundtracks to cassette tape via the Mega Drive's awesome stereo headphone jack. Those were the days... anything was possible. Damn, I'm getting old...
  5. Hey dude, sorry about the late reply!!! Thanks for that man, glad you like the mix! I use Reason 3.0 ... got a mix to be posted soon, hopefully it's up before too long! Keep an eye out! Working on a lot of tracks for various projects, so I'm busy with those, but hopefully they'll be posted here too. Thanks for the message dude! :D

  6. Rush and Adventure were not good at all, imo. There was no subtlety to the mechanics, and it was all go, go, go... in a bad way. I'm very much looking forward to Sonic 4... as it's the game that looks closest to the original games physics. Sonic without Sonic-Physics is wrong.
  7. Man, this is soooo awesome. You should sub this... I really don't see anything wrong with it... it's fantastic.
  8. Great, great tracks! Though, I must admit... I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what songs from Sonic Adventure were being remixed too, haha! Still, good stuff man!
  9. Now, hardly the most hardcore RPG gamer, but this has to be one of the greatest Battle Themes of all time. Grandia II - Fight!! Ver.3 ~ Boss Battle The Grandia games were always the most accessible RPG's I have ever had the pleasure of playing. The fantastic voice acting always lent the titles an old-school 'Saturday Morning Cartoon' vibe that really appealed to me. And this battle theme pretty much embodies everything I love about the Grandia series; it's fun, melodic, empowering, cheesy and it never, ever grates on ones nerves. Noriyuki Iwadare's masterful score for Grandia II is incredibly diverse... and this battle theme perfectly captures the utter uniqueness and pure fun the Grandia battle system could provide. It's a product of it's time, and I dare say that themes as fun and energetic as this will become less and less common, which is rather sad. But I digress. Listen and love it.
  10. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Love it.
  11. Decent point. But to be fair, if it came out on PC, we all know people would bitch and moan about how it's a lame console FPS on the infinitely more awesome PC... and how it pales in comparison to PC FPS A or PC FPS B. Halo feels right on console. Pacing and controls are finely tuned for a gamepad, and it just feels right. I'm not that far into it, I've been busy the last few days, but the game is awesome from what I've played so far. It's Halo... and it's probably the best Halo out. I adored Halo 1 and 2. Halo 3 was great, but the level design irked me (worst. campaign. opening. ever.) and I didn't like the game till Tsavo Highway. Halo Reach, I'm loving. I love what it is, and I love what it stands for. And Marty O'Donnell... wow oh wow oh WOW. I've never, EVER been into fully orchestral scores for games... the more movie like, the more boring and uninteresting I find them. With the exception of the Halo games. Gorgeous, stirring melodies, sweeping sounds and an awesome mix of genres. The Halo games are known for their music, and Halo Reach may be right up there with Halo 2... outstanding
  12. My favourites are Water Confines and Gethsemane... they were great. I really love Hunters Season too... very classic Kamelot that track Damn... I love the whole album!
  13. Me too! Absolutely adore the whole album. If Tomorrow Came is an absolute classic... it actually sounds a lot like Roys' first band, Conception, I think. The similarities between the two bands grow a little more each album... I love the direction that they are heading in.
  14. I'd love to participate! CastleVania is my favourite game series of all time, and I'd like to claim Poison Mind and Nothing To Lose, if I could, and work them into one track. I am currently participating in the NiGHTS and DCK3 arrangement albums, amongst others... if you need a WIP for proof, lemme know!
  15. Listened to half of the album so far, and I'm completely rapt. Poetry for the Poisoned is fantastic, as is the everything up to House on a Hill... listening to that track at the moment. Simone Simons always impresses. I'm definitely loving it so far... I don't know if I'd say that there's a LOT of ballads... there's more mid-tempo numbers that's for sure, but Kamelot have always been different to their peers. You take them as they are, and they've always stood out to me as beyond their 'genre'. The Great Pandemonium seems like a very natural progression for them. Calling upon many a sound they have delivered in the past, yet sounding very, very different whilst doing so. And Khan's voice is, once again, superb. I'm glad that he's hitting the higher registers more often than he did on Ghost Opera... his falsetto is second to none, and some of vocal stylings really take me back to Karma and Epica. Ok, just listened to Necropolis and My Train of Thoughts... wow. I'm putting this up there with The Black Halo. Lyrically, this is quite a step above Ghost Opera. I love that album dearly, but I don't feel lyrically it was as strong as what had come before. This remedies that and then some. Colour me impressed. In my eyes, they still stand heads and shoulders above the rest.
  16. So first online review of Kamelots' new album 'Poetry for the Poisoned' is up... and has received a perfect 20 out of 20. http://www.spirit-of-metal.com/album-groupe-Kamelot-nom_album-Poetry_for_the_Poisoned-l-en.html The album is available through the usual channels also... but this is an absolute day one-no brainer purchase for me. I own all their albums up till now too, but I'll be acquiring the album before then because the wait will be just too unbearable. As soon as I've got it, and given it a couple of listens, I'll chime in with my thoughts. Man, soooooo excited Anyone else pumped to all hell?
  17. I really like the idea man, sounds great! Would be even better to hear you iterate on that idea and go nuts with the guitar too, some awesome improv solo-y stuff would really take this somewhere special. Also, I suggest that after you come back to the source, really start to ramp up the track... the only downfall of this track I can see is that if you keep it going longer than about 3 1/2 mins, you'll really need to up dynamics toward the end to maintain interest... some stronger percussion, some harder layers underneath. Just something to really send the mix out on the highest note possible. But man, I am all about this mix. Love it EDIT: Forgot to mention, I love the new louder strings! Big improvement
  18. aaaand I've been dicking around with Paulstretch for an hour now... it's quite awesome
  19. My thoughts exactly. It's unbelievably pretty. Like this 'Justin Beiber' girl.
  20. Wow man, I am absolutely loving this. Seriously. Everything is so well defined and pretty... I adore it all. I second the comment about the strings... they sound fine in the intro, but they blend in a little too much into the background as the mix progresses... they could sound a fair bit warmer, and I'd love to hear some more dynamic variation. The string stabs could also occasionally cut through a little more... a well placed louder stab could really give the mix more guts. But man, I am loving your style in general. You've come a long way and you have way potential! Awesome stuff dude, I'm so rapt with this mix.
  21. Man, cannot wait to see this. Glad to hear it's awesome! Ok, so Big Aussie Geek Out night is official. Gonna see this with as many people as possible
  22. I hear people saying simple, but effective... I hear gorgeous and nuanced. The section that comes in at 56/57 seconds is absolutely my thing and I'm all about that section. Truly a thing of beauty, I'm absolutely taken by this remix. There's many melodic layers here that are understated, but make it very interesting to listen to. I love it. Definitely in my top 3 for the year. Stunning.
  23. GoldenEye is overrated. Pivotal moment in gaming, sure, but have you played it recently? Yeesh. And Everything or Nothing was the only other excellent Bond game. Except for, as was said above, the multiplayer.
  24. Th esong is absolutely brilliant... I've had it stuck in my head since it was revealed. Game looks good too! As long as it's like Everything or Nothing, and not like any other of the Bond games, then I'll be a happy boy
