  1. 80's is awesome, and 80's doesn't never die. Pretty much everything I do is some form of 80's influenced synth-pop stuff though, cause that's what I love doing, so judging by what ya'll are saying, I'm expecting a synth-pop duel to the death!!! I got Tidal Tempest on my side though - there's not very many 'vidyah gaem' tracks I like more than anything from the real Sonic CD OST (let alone TIDALFREAKINGTEMPEST), so this time round, it's all nostalgia and passion that'll drive me. Funnily enough, I'm not a competitive person at all... but I love me these comps - being forced to finish (or nearly finish) a track every week gets me going.
  2. Good... I remember you saying a while back you'd do that very thing - IT'S ON! EDIT: Oops double post... WHAADYAGUNADOOO?!?!
  3. MUUUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA !!! Love it. Brackets are awesome. Sigs are awesome. It's all awesome Man, I cannot WAIT for the match ups...
  4. That was the most amazing thing I have ever had the pleasure of reading...
  5. Are we gonna get into this again, Kyle? I completely disagree, but I don't wanna start another war
  6. I have a feeling we both chose CC for the same reason, lol (it's catchy as hell, and contains a lot of motif's that would be real easy to mix into other zone sources ), but yeah, Tidal Tempest is one of my faves, and one of the first tracks I looped endlessly from the game disc - the whole soundtrack is uber-special to me - it was my first taste of Redbook audio, after all. So which ever zone from that version of Sonic CD I get to remix, I end up winning either way. It goes without saying that I'm ULTRA excited to see what you do with Collision Chaos
  7. Could I possibly be a complete shit and change the order of my picks? 1: Tidal Tempest JAP/EURO - Sonic CD 2: Wacky Workbench JAP/EURO - Sonic CD 3: Speed Highway - Sonic Adventure 4: Emerald Coast - Sonic Adventure 5: Collision Chaos JAP/EURO - Sonic CD I'd rather not have to roll halc for Collision Chaos, and no one's picked Tidal Temest JAP/Euro yet
  8. A new IP AND a Metroidvania to boot! The control looks to be as smooth as butter too. I'm hanging out for this. Can no one EVER get enough platform games these days
  9. New information and video from the game in this article: http://www.kotaku.com.au/2012/04/hell-yeah-is-a-gory-comedy-metroidvania-set-in-hell/ It's looking SWEEEEEEEEET. Look at that framerate!
  10. Haha! I literally lol'd... hard. I love me some Sonic R... mmmm
  11. Really loving this. I adore any and all Turrican music, and this is a fantastic rendition of 'The Great Bath'. The only real beef I have is that the bass seems a tad overwhelming in most of the track... it booms a little too much and is a smidgen muddy. Apart from that, I love it. It's a keeper
  12. Still, awesome stuff man! Brilliant. This version of the track you cover is my absolute favourite arrangement of Bloody Tears ever. Fantastic
  13. Agreed. But I'm still assuming because it's a WIP, that he hasn't really touched the vocal clips yet in terms of mixing, and yeah, the piano is a little bit loud, but I've no doubt that will be addressed. The WIP as a whole is awesome, and I can tell that you really enjoyed the source, because it still contains a lot of my favourite hooks from the original track. Loving this And good for you for going straight to the Jap/Euro soundtrack first The creativity and variety in that versions soundtrack still blows me away to this day, and each and every track is amazing.
  14. Happy Birthday my friend!!! Just poured myself a bourbon and coke just to celebrate. I just cheers'd the monitor
  15. Hells yes. I spent so much time when I was younger recording every single track in every Sonic Sound Test to cassette tape. I even drew covers for them and put track listings on the back
  16. Anytime after the start of May would be perfect for me. I mean, I'll jump in it anytime, but yeah. Just sayin'
  17. Agreed. If you pick a zone, you should be able to be free to use each, any or all of the Acts. The vast majority use a similar chord structure, and to be honest, all blend into the other really well, so it shouldn't be a problem. Man, I'm hanging for this to get off the ground:)
  18. The idea of each remixer taking different zones is enough theme for me. Sonic ReMixes are special enough - they'll speak for themselves without being tied to some kind of over-arching narrative
  19. Do it. It helps a lot. Till the WCRG, I did not know that, if I put my mind to it, I could complete the bulk of a track in a week. It's helped me a lot, so I'd say go for it
  20. I have a lot of WIPS EDIT: This is just the excuse I need to make more Sonic mixes. And finish them, haha.
  21. YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES I am interest. EDIT: It would be great to participate in such a contest where I know ALL the source material back to front
  22. Not quite. I should have clarified that I still listen to a lot of Mainstream pop - but it's more Euro-stuff than anything else, so it's not exactly mainstream for the average joe here in Australia, but to me, it's pretty by the numbers. As for new pop-stuff, I've had 'time to develop my conceptual thought around' the fact that I really like PitBull, anything RedOne, Lady Gaga and David Guetta's stuff
  23. Absolutely. Pop music was awesome in the 80's and 90's. And I agree, as disposable as a lot of the tracks were, they still were composed well and had a lot going for them. Still, there's a lot of people out there bringing those 80's & 90's sensibilities back. Lady Gaga, Grum and more. I'm enjoying the resurgence of the 80's sounds eg. Grum - Turn It Up: See, that pop dancey/new R&B stuff I can tolerate, if only for the fact it's easy enough to sing along to because it's melodic...
