  1. Hello, this is the next thing I am working on - requested by Xarnax42 in this thread - is a piece from Legacy of the Wizard, also known as Dragon Slayer IV in Japan. I think this game has an awesome soundtrack and one of those awesome songs I wanted to give credit to - Meyna's Level Theme which has been in my head over all those years. Here is a link to the original: So yeah, after messing around you can listen to what it sounds like at the moment here: http://www.darksoulproject.com/music/Meyna.mp3 This is work in progress, which you might hear. (aka: I really need to get this guitar intonated, tried several times myself, it does not work in the higher regions) If you have any comments, suggestions or constructive critism it would be greatly appreciated as always. I hope you enjoy listening. Take care, Luhny
  2. First Megaman track of any sort i've attemped. I'm going for a relaxed lo-fi style with some subtle glitching. Looking for any feedback, even if you don't know the source, i'd be interested to see what people think of it so far. Here's the source: Here's some sauce:
  3. Hi there. Here's my latest WIP. Feedback is appreciated! http://soundcloud.com/feather/nu-heights-original-mix-2nd-edit
  4. Hey everyone, new to the board. Obvious as that was due to post count. Anyways, I am looking for feedback and such on this track I was working on. It is Sabrewulf's theme from Killer Instinct 2/Gold. The guitar was put on last night, but the rest was done a few days ago, or over the span of a few days rather. Be harsh if you can, because I want to learn more about what I can do to improve the sound of my music because it all seems low. Here it is: http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/2/5/735980/Sabrewulf%202.mp3 Edit, and new take on the guitar and drums: http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/2/5/735980/Sabrewulf%203.mp3
  5. Hello all! This is my second WIP submission (the first can be found here). I like bouncing between two projects to get the juices.....juicing. I kind of chose an obscure choice for this one. Essentially, its a metal orchestral arrangement of the Overworld theme for Dragon Quest Monsters. It started out as an all orchestral instrumental with a male choir, but I somehow got sidetracked. Strings, wind, brass, guitar, bass, harp, piano, and of courses drums are all present. Hopefully, you'll enjoy the direction I went. Things I plan to improve on: * Extending the beginning. I go into the main rhythm a little too fast for my taste and the transition is very awkward. * The second half of the song is essentially a huge loop of the first half. I plan to humanize the guitar and perhaps put some improv in there to help keep the rest of it fresh. The drums are altered in some places but the majority of it is the same as the first half. I also intend on putting a short piano solo at the end to round things out. * Make the crescendo sound more......crescendo-ey. Only thing that gets the tension across is the cymbal crashes. One of the targets for my guitar improv. All in all, I have a lot to do before I can even hope to get this submission worthy, but I don't think its too bad of a start. Original source can be found here.
  6. Work in progress so pleas tell me what do you think. Thanks! http://fairtilizer.com/track/135561
  7. -This is a power metal S.S.H. style remix of Rimururu's theme from Samurai Showdown 4. I feel it's pretty much complete but i would like some outside opinions before i officially enter it to O.C. remix. It was all made in FL studio using NO money. -I used the demo version of FL studio. I used 2 free VSTs one for the drums and one for the Harp. the rest were all done with Sytrus VST. This remix took a lot of time and effort due to the fact that i used the demo version. Every time i reloaded it in FL studio i had to redo all of the effects and remaster it. it took about 4 days total to do. -I'd like everyone's honest opinion on it good or bad. (note: this is my first real remix so i don't expect it to be anywhere near perfect lol) here is the song: http://tindeck.com/listen/glbq
  8. Ok so here is a track I've been working on for the past couple of days. Its for a white city in the middle of a jungle island. Its history it wrought with strife and yet it is being reinhabited and rebuilt! I was trying to capture the optimism of that reconstruction in the track. I would love to hear some feedback on this and will take any comments and suggestions and use them to better the track. Thanks in advance and I hope you enjoy it: Edit(Beefed up the drums added a vocal sample): http://www.box.net/shared/rpdsr8m06s
  9. Anyone who remembers the VGMix 2.0 days may recall I made an acousto-electric version of Dire Dire Docks in 4/4 called Just Keep Swimming. Listening to it now, it's not horrendous but it feel like I can improve so much upon what I did before. I'll probably be working with WillRock to get some other synthy-stuff in here. [removed due to upcoming usage]
  10. I chose this track because I find it seldom remixed, and also wanted to keep the sense of danger you usually don't get from underwater level music. What style it is, well it's kind of cross-genre. This mix contains elements of drum & bass, dubstep, and a bit of hip hop. The breakdown from 0:44 to 1:03 is pretty bare, that needs the most work for now. I plan to add additional effects or ambiance to fill it out. 11. About six months ago I eagerly started on a remix for OC, but as I learned... rushing leads no where. I'm kind of biding my time now, working on original projects with a pretty simplistic plug and play sequencer until I gain enough experience to move on. Also trying to gather more info on better virtual instruments and sequencing software... if anyone could lead me in a direction on that I'd be very grateful. The music I've been producing pretty much falls in the genre of an audio soundtrack for a movie or video game, I'm having difficulty writing anything else. I used mixcraft and various virtual instruments to make these songs. I'm no musical genius but I played a few instruments in my 18 years... just a bit. These songs are just drafts, I'm looking for feedback. I know they're not too particularly good, but I need people with musical ears to critique them. Here are my 4 major songs plus one random recording. Anyways, without further ado: warming up: This song was literately me warming up and testing this prelayered virtual instrument that imitates a full orchestra. I just decided to record, I think it sounds decent, nothing special. first song: This is the first song I wrote, I added the bass, brass, strings, and choir over time. I know it says melodichaos, but I'm trying to think of a better name. I layered some guitars with an orchestra together by accident and got the effect that is the melody of song. I know a real guitar would make this song so much better, but I thought the effect was kinda cool at the time... anyways, my sense of rhythm is off and the virtual instruments aren't too great... uh any other feedback would be great. It was heavily inspired by err songs like "hell march to the apocalypse" in terms of the instrument choice, road to bowser's... ect. It's basically a villains theme, I suppose. I'm pretty much editing it everyday so the link literally changes every time I update this post! second song: tried to play a melody I made while sitting at my piano and record it with this orchestral vst, didn't work out to well... =/ third song: the sole instrument playing is the orchestral virtual instrument, it has a deep tone but is painfully simplistic, as a lot of my works are. I'm trying to currently trying to access the melody and add to it as I grow. fourth song: If you've been following a long, you can kinda tell that I've grown somewhat in my er, music making. This song is probably my best in terms of a coherent rhythm and bassline, and it's maybe a little catchy. It was my attempt at jazz, but ended up being kinda like a mystery score... I have others, but that's probably all that's stomachable, the rest were experiments in techno and pop >_< I do admittedly have a problem with bass rhythm and drums... more so drums though. I just added drums to my first song but I'm still working on the percussion. All songs have been edited and posted on tindeck

  13. ...so I decided to hunt around here, see what songs I have in the game music collection that I want to remix, and I found Donkey Kong Country 3's "Rocket Run". Decided to give that one a shot first. I'm taking my time on it, so it took 2 days to have a showable WIP. Note this is still very much in progress. The main part is only half finished, I still have to put 8 bars of original stuff in it. Any suggestions on what I should do? http://www.box.net/shared/juqm1kflrp
  14. Hi guys !! Here is an arrangement of the Helvétie Theme in Asterix on Game Boy. For this mix, I wanted an atmosphere very sunny! Here the source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4S2vXj5quc&feature=PlayList&p=A802A9D27E002D4F&playnext_from=PL&index=4&playnext=1 And the mix: http://www.reverbnation.com/bluelighter# It’s an orchestral remix with a rhythm of brass band. I didn’t really change the structure of the piece, I worked almost on instrumentation. Please tell me what you think! I'm open to any suggestion to upgrade this piece. I hope you enjoy this arrangement
  15. UPDATE: JULY 31 2010 New version, get it while it's hot: http://www.nekofrog.com/theextreme-01.mp3 A few explanations: again. the lead guitar during the clean parts is a placeholder melody for whenever I find a vocalist (female). If something seems barren and devoid of melody, that's because vocals are supposed to eventually go there. At around 2:48, the harp arpeggios will be replaced by lead guitar (hopefully from sixto, fingers crossed...). Ignore the last 25 seconds or so, I forgot to cut it off before I mixed down the latest version. Oh, and I think I've addressed a lot of your concerns about the beginning not matching. Rerecorded it with the proper guitar parts. OLD: No title yet. You might have heard some of this 5 or 6 months ago, I've overhauled a bit of it and here's what I have so far. http://nekofrog.com/The Extreme.mp3 If there are any competent and capable female vocalists out there, I'd love to talk to you about vocals on the track (the lead guitar over the clean part near the end is where lyrics are going to go).
  16. And i didn't made the construction yet. Well I expect you will enjoy the track anyway. http://www31.zippyshare.com/v/25228335/file.html
  17. http://tindeck.com/listen/ncrc Going for a chariots of fire type remix. Source:
  18. Honestly, I don't know what else to do with this other than add an intro and (possibly) think about lyrics. Suggestions are very very welcome. Download Link Here
  19. Still needs a lot of cleaning up done on it, but the general idea is down. I've not got too much experience in remixing using the original vocal track so i'd like some opinions on what you think of it and how it can be improved, so any feedback would be very much appreciated! thanks
  20. Hey guys, just looking for some opinions on this remix that I put together for the Forest Temple theme. Melodically, I'm pretty happy with the contributions and variations I added. In terms of mastering, I'm thinking of bring up the levels of the flute a bit, I feel it's getting a bit drowned out. I'm feeling the bass doesn't have a whole lot of punch to it, might think about bringing that up a bit as well. Here's the link: edit: removed the 1st 2 links and added a new, more refined version for your listening pleasure. Thanks for any criticisms and feedback. edit: and the source for anybody who hasn't heard it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KUXX9T8Cm4
  21. http://soundcloud.com/blooandwhite/spin-frequency some WIP i started a long time ago and havent gotten back to, just a mix of some drum and bassy/swordfighting/groovomatic/yasunori flying sounds. i may polish it up sometime down the line, repetitive drums and the same buildup sound every time, but maybe someone will like
  22. My latest remix, up for review by anyone. please tell me what you think. youtube link: (will probably put in a share site soon)
  23. Version 1: Vocals are drafty at best. Lyrics: (Verse) Far off the edge, of time and space eternal. I see those days... Long to see your face... An absent smile, scorched in frozen flame, yet I'll still call out your name: ([Pre-?]Chorus) Forever, young Rachel the sun shall set before you, and the stars will take this chance, to forever keep your hand. You'll awake in the flame of our embrace...
  24. http://soundcloud.com/daedalus-project/daedalus-project-space-time-continuum-original-mix Feedback is welcome. Enjoy listening. A progressive/electro-house track I made a few days ago, inspired by "Schala's Theme". Maybe it needs to be extended to be tagged as "Original Mix", but I like it up to now and received pretty good feedback too. ^^ EDIT: Thanks for your feedback, decided to mark this as WIP.. Need to extend the arrangement a bit as mentioned, and fix the dynamics.. As for failing to recognize the source track, just think of the original and speed it up to 128 Beats per minute and with a few variations/differences for originality.. Plus I chose to make a progressive/electro kind of track, so I had to keep that 'mood'. It's supposed to be somewhat repetitive, it's house music after all ;D Still, thanks for your good words folks. This gives me reason and will to further work on it. ^__^ Cheers, Daedalus Project
  25. I was up late a few nights ago and this idea popped in my head. I'd like to take it somewhere but right now I'm not sure where I'd like it to go. The main conflict right now is whether or not to keep it acoustic based or to transition it to the distorted sound. Anyway, if you have anything you'd like to suggest or comment on, feel free to.
