A tango spin on an upbeat, underrated track from Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. I never finish ORAS, but I'm sad to learn that the Abandoned Ship was replaced with some decrepit research station. I so loved the romanticism and intrigue of a lost cruise ship. What I love so much about the Abandoned Ship location is that it's not creepy. It's more a monument to travel and the past than a ghost ship. The orchestral theme from the anime plays up the romanticism and feeling of luxury. I adore that theme, and I've listened to it far too many times! And then one day in the shower ("too much water"?) it hit me – this piece works perfectly as a tango, rhythmically and thematically. I know I need to finish my medieval Halo theme, but this came into my head and refused to leave until I got a demo version down! This is Final Fantasy VII's ordinary battle theme ('Those Who Fight') rearranged in the annoyingly catchy, classic style of 'Elevator Music' (sort of Bossa Nova). It's called 'Final Fantasy 7/11' as I remember this kind of cheesy stuff playing in 7/11s when I visited Tokyo. Would love your thoughts; in some ways it feels fairly rough - in others, like I'm not sure what more can be done with it - so I need some inspiration & feedback! My cover of the song that plays during the most spoilerific part of Super Mario Odyssey. Also includes bits of Peach's Castle, Super Mario World's Main Theme, Mario 64's File Select Theme, and Jump Up, Superstar. Let me know what it needs in terms of production or arrangement so it can sound as good as possible! It's still missing a few backing vocals, but besides that it's about done in terms of recording.

I played through Super Metroid again recently (I do so frequently in fact) and felt it would be fun to do a sort of dark and industrial remix of the Red Soil Brinstar theme. So my intentions for this was to simulate the feeling of the theme from the snes version, but sound like the one from the HD remake. With the HD remake version the bassline was a constant 2 note line(really boring). I know the ending is really bad so I was wondering if anyone can give me some pointers here. Original Song

At first I thought it would sound a bit spooky for halloween, then I started experimenting and thus went for a more spacey ambient sound. I liked where it went so here I am. Hi, everyone! I recently completed an important phase of a long-term jazz/vgm arrangement project that I have going on called The Hard Modes. I wanted to share it with you all and get your feedback. I premiered 7 arrangements at a live show a couple of weeks ago and recorded the show using a Zoom H2 recorder as well as a no-frills camcorder. I'll be posting the tracks individually over time, but if you like what you hear you can always check out the other parts of the set through SoundCloud or YouTube (though we didn't capture 2 of the arrangements on video). First up is my arrangement of Austin Wintory's I Was Born For This from Journey, which was actually the last tune of our set. Some notes: The sound quality isn't great on either medium, but the sound recording sounds better than the video. That's me on tenor sax! The throwback near the end of the tune was a surprise even for the band; the spot just called for an open solo. My original arrangement was inspired by Ornette Coleman's work, although to get the work together for the show we had to simplify some of the sections a bit, which is why I labeled this a Work in Progress (ultimately, the arrangement should be freer than it is--we'll get there!). Ahh, Secret of Mana, the game that made me want to become a musician at the tender age of seven... it was my introduction to prog-rock. This one's not done, but is far enough along that I felt comfortable sharing. I was going for some mildly-psychedelic jazz-rock, to set the mood for chasing rabites after dark (and maybe a few cocktails). I haven't made an intro or outro, and the middle part is kind of lacking at the moment. Also, the mix was done on some low-end headphones while my nicer ones sit atop the ever-growing fix-it pile. I'm sure my complete lack of jazz background is apparent with that horn arrangement, but I'm learning as I go. I need a break from this one for a couple days, but I hope to finish it up and mix it by this time next week. So this is an original song but definitely game related. I created the Fairy Fountain beat into hip hop form (from scratch) and have put vocals on it. The vocals are about Princess Zelda from the perspective of Link. If Link was to write a love song about Princess Zelda, this would be it! This is only a rough draft, and yes I put some autotune on my vocals. Please any and all feedback would be nice. I've been on a 90's pop kick lately, so I decided to do a Shawn Mullins-inspired arrangement of Star-Stealing Girl https://www.sendspace.com/file/8n2jwe Stuff I still need to do: -Re-record most of the guitars (the clean rhythm guitar will be replaced by an acoustic) -Add vocals/lyrics (ya rly) -Spice up the bass and percussion -Spice up (and hopefully live-record) the piano -Write an ending -EQ, compression, general production stuff (at which I'm WAAAAAY out of practice)

So I recently submitted a track to multiple places, one competition, an OCR album, and then to the site. I had to finish the track on a tight deadline. I worked hard on it, and was very proud of the end result. I got feedback from the community around the competition and it was overwhelmingly positive and very well received. Thinking it was a nice track I was proud of, I submitted it to OCR. It went through the panel fairly fast. Here is the thread in Judges' Decisions Originally the track was written in Ab major, but then it went a little high in the trumpet part, so I wrote it down in the key of Gb, which was a bad idea, since it made recording quite difficult, but the performances of the brass were not the problem here. The rhythm section parts (piano, bass, drums, and there is a guitar in there but you can't hear it) were generated in band in a box, then edited to fit the track. The piano and bass worked really well, and for all anybody knows so did the guitar. The drums were one of the things that kept getting shot at, which now is something I can't unhear. The other thing was the arrangement, which went on a little while without changes in energy. Here is the track, the version I submitted to all these places. I'm putting this in Workshop as a work in progress to get more feedback on what I can do differently with the arrangement, and what I can do to not have to record everything again. I might just program the drums myself or record them in manually with a midi keyboard, since I now have better drum sounds.

I desperately need more "Resident Evil" remixes... or an official OCR Album -- a man can only dream But for now, I want to see how far I can go with this piece of my own. Inspired by Tony MacAlpine's "Tears of Sahara", I'd like to see if I can come up with a sweet rock ballad version of "Sleeping Beauty", which I fell in love with. Here is a remix I am spending time on, so far the sequence is coming together but I would like to open this up as a collaboration. This remix is the song shortly after the prologue in the Sega CD classic "Snatcher". I would record my bass for this but I am having some gain or pickup issues that I'm hoping to get fixed soon. This is just a rough snippet that came to me this evening, I've never made a song before. I really like a prog rock sound e.g. Pink Floyd, something like that, I wonder if anyone has any ideas to help bring this further. I know that there are some mistakes in this but I am just learning how Garageband works...
