Instrumental & Vocal Skills (Other)

  1. Hi everyone! First time posting in this section of the forums... Kinda nervous! I wanted to share my cover of Jesper Kyd's song 'Ezio's Family' from Assassin's Creed 2. I'm not intending on submitting this to OCR, because I know the arrangement is far too conservative to warrant submitting, but I would like some feedback on my production quality, mixing/mastering, performance etc. so I can improve when I do decide to submit something to OCR. All the voices and instruments (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, celtic harp, piano, celeste sample) are performed by me (except the violins), and I also did all the mixing/mastering. This was a collaboration with ViolinGamer who performs all the violin parts you hear in the piece, therefore all critique regarding his performance would go amiss on me! Though, tips on mixing violins would be appreciated. A few things I know I could work on straight off the bat: the recording was mixed too quiet by normal standards (probably due to the solo vocal's dynamic range throughout) the mix is possibly too wet for most people, but I personally enjoy it as it sounds similar to the original song the outro between the guitar, harp and celeste could've been more in time with each other Here's the links to download/listen to the cover: YouTube video | FLAC download | Apple Lossless download
  2. Sonic the Hedgehog fans! So I did a vocal remix to the music from Security Hall from Sonic Adventure 2 which I call "Treasure Hunter." The track is groovy and for those familiar with the game its about Rouge the Bat. Enjoy! Hope you like this one!
  3. Am I the only one that does vocal remixes here?? lol Anyways! Here is one I just did! I use the "Final Chase" song from Sonic Adventure 2 and make lyrics about shadow. Lot of vocal FX in here. Hope you like!
  4. Hey guys! I have just uploaded a new cover, this time it's the music of Overwatch Just wanted to share it with you guys and wanted to know what you think. Thanks and Enjoy!

  8. Hello again, OCR! Here's a new* remix from Legend of Mana that I just finished. * It started out as a loop back in 2008, made it a full length thing in 2015, and finished working on it now after putting it aside for... a year or so. What do you think? Cheers, Jonas
  9. Hi there, first post on the forums, but I was hoping on getting some feedback on this song I made a while back. Unfortunately,I got a little too giddy, and released it without really checking it over a whole bunch. First thing, I can't easily put out new version of the song to listen to because FL Studios does not like rendering out the song without some glitchiness/weird stuff happening to it. I'll have to fix that eventually ): but for now I can only post videos. A few things I know I'll fix is the panning and volume of certain instruments. I was working on speakers because I didn't have headphones at that time, but since then bought a nice pair and was hoping to fix that up. The other thing is the equalization! I really can't get the intruments to sound well/dont know how to EQ them properly, specifically the xylophones/flute. I'm using the EWQL Gold library and FL studios if that helps anyone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1w7PUkkS2yI
  10. Hello! I hope you're doing well. I've recently started a new video game cover project called "The Geeky Guitarist", which focuses on jazz fusion vgm arrangements and I would love some feedback and opinions. Yesterday I released this cover of the famous Ground Theme: Ground Theme - The Geeky Guitarist My goal for this project in a few months is to release an album, but first im starting off by uploading weekly jazz fusion covers every saturday to establish an audience. I hope you enjoy! Please let me know what you think. Thanks!!
  11. Hey up everybody - so I've been fiddling around with this for the last few weeks and figured I'd throw it up for any feedback/thoughts that people might have. It's a 7-string guitar, heavy, atmospheric, RIFFZ version of the absolutely excellent Mt Gagazet theme from Final Fantasy X which I have affectionately titled 'Riff Mountain' just because. There are a few fudged notes so I'll be re-recording chunks of it, I've not done a great deal of mixing on this and it has no mastering whatsoever because that's an arcane and unknowable art to me, but nevertheless- feedback would be appreciated! I think it's decent, I'm just not sure whether the arrangement is where it needs to be. Cheeeers!
  12. This is our first remix, uploaded to Soundcloud and feedback is appreciated. It has been recently submitted but, not yet uploaded to OCRM. Thanks a lot! Digital Season.
  13. I made this last summer and it would be nice to hear some feedback! (like:what you think of the genre choice compared to the original or if it´s interesting enough to listen to etc) It´s very simple (montuno piano and trumpet melody) cause it was intended for a cover (i just signed up here so i hope i´m using this forum as intended haha)
  14. *Git guud I'm back at it again with the short sources.
  15. Break out the sunscreen and get ready to empty your shoes alot because its about to get sandy up in here. Be sure to keep those candles lit too.... damn ghosts! Any sort of feedback is appreciated!
  16. Hi all. I arranged the Heat Man theme from the NES classic Mega Man 2 for 3 classical guitars. Enjoy. By the way, I'm new on OCR and didn't find a topic specifically for instrumental covers. If one exists please let me know and I will re-post. EM
  17. This is the very first beat I've ever made, so any feedback and criticism on this would be greatly appreciated. https://soundcloud.com/blackimar/eterna-forest
  18. Sonic the Hedgehog fans! So in anticipation of the new game Sonic Forces game announced and coming, I did a vocal remix to the main theme adding my own vocals! Hope you enjoy and let me know what you think!
  19. Hey everyone ! Here's my cover of Momentum Mori from Crypt Of The Necrodancer. Enjoy
  20. I posted a track I believe over 2 years ago at this point, based the original Deus Ex soundtrack, had some useful conversations about it and then lost interest/faith in making it any better. Subsequently, I've revisited this, and now here's a thread about it. Scrapped probably about 75% of what I had before (because, I'll be honest, it was crap) and significantly reworked the remainder, plus a lot of new material, into a more focused and (I hope) competent piece. https://www.dropbox.com/s/3sreq6bbargy5lz/Combine.mp3?dl=0 Based on the UNATCO theme. Brief reference to Versalife - Conversation.
  21. Hey guys, first time poster here! I've recently made a remix to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. One of my favorite games I played growing up. I'd love your feedback and opinion on the track! I hope to be around here more often <3 Much love, -Z
  22. Once again, I decided to try to experiment with style and arrangement to make a unique take on a classic VGM theme! If I were to give it a title, it would probably be something like "Hunting for Ridley". Whadya think?
  23. Here's the stuff I do when I'm out of inspiration for too long: https://soundcloud.com/bluejackg/super-mario-land-2-party-remix
