  1. I've uploaded the high quality version of this remix to the judges panel earlier last week, but I figured I may as well post a temporary link to a version I posted to soundcloud. Essentially, I gave the Submerged Temple theme from the Torvus Bog section of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes a much more pulsing, bad-A sort of feel. I initially wanted it to have a style similar to an original song of mine (Motion), but the more I progressed in producing the song, the more it took shape into what it sounds like now. The reddit community for the Metroid franchise suggested I submit it over hear. Lemme know what you think! -JD
  2. Last ReMix for a while - since I'm headed off to grad school literally today, Chris and I thought we'd work on a Metroid mix to follow our 2013 "Let's Upset a 'Troid!". Here's how it turned out! https://app.box.com/s/j3wcpb77b9o2k5ron5jy882l78524gt5 - MP3 Also available on SoundCloud:
  3. Remix Original This is my first remix I have ever wanted to push. I eventually want to submit it to OC but, I believe there is more to be added. Any advice is appreciated!
  4. So I decided that since I like OC ReMix so much, and since I've always been into music, that I'd start doing remixes. Here's my take on Super Metroid's Mysterious Statue Chamber and Tension tracks (mashed together), which both are basically the same song with a few noted differences. I thought it would be neat to mix the two seeing that they were so similar. These tracks are used for the music before boss fights, mainly Kraid and the morph ball bomb chozo statue. Source tracks: The mix itself might be somewhat loud, but everything should be properly mixed. There is a lot of low-end bass, but nothing that should break anyone's speakers. Once I was finished and made sure nothing clipped the master channel, I bounced it to .wav and converted to .mp3 with Nero Recode. Made in Ableton Live 9 with various Kontakt instruments. Dropbox link: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/65459588/Remixes/Harmonic%20Dread.mp3 The mp3 might say it is around 5 minutes, but it is only about 3. Not sure why. any advice would be great before I submit this, it feels 95% complete to me but there might be something I'm missing.
  5. A Metroid remix I am working on https://soundcloud.com/endgameaudio/parasite-m-pure-energy-mix
  6. Simple question, I've been trying to recreate the sound Nightmare makes when he appears in Metroid Fusion. I've gotten close by FM'ing a square wave with a sine wave but it just doesn't sound right. Perhaps one of you have come across this sound in your various endeavors in creating sounds?
  7. Hello, I am creating my very first song. It's a remix of Chozo ruins with some Nightmare thrown in there. I was thinking of putting the "Metroid Prime Bell" As I like to call it, into the song. The sound I'm talking about can be prominently heard at the beginning of the Parasite queen boss battle at 0:07 to 0:08.https://youtu.be/6DCcCBOmOo0?t=6. This sound really interests me as I remember it being used in other prime tracks. I think the bell would fit my remix rather well but I have had trouble reverse engineering it. I do know the basics of synthesis but I haven't been making music as long as most of you guys have so I thought I would ask for some tips in recreating this sound. I'm working on a strict budget as I have no income at the moment and I can't spare money on super expensive VSTs. I have FL studio producer edition so anything that comes with it, I have.
  8. Hey OCR! This song contains the Ridley theme from some of the earlier Metroid games, though the exact version I was constantly referencing is from Metroid Prime 1. I am very excited to share this with you guys, as it is my favorite arrangement that I have done in my "Tribute to Metroid" playlist. To reiterate my intentions on making this, here are my thoughts. "I had this idea of taking the song and making it darker, more cinematic, and more aggressive with some heavy hitting drums and percussion. I tried to keep in mind the balance of familiarity (the common melody that everyone knows) and the unknown (new interesting ideas)". With that concept in mind, I would really appreciate it if you could take a listen and let me know what you think! Hope you like it, -Rory Remix - https://soundcloud.com/roryglenn/ridley?in=roryglenn/sets/tribute-to-metroid-prime Original - https://youtu.be/tBq_SueS8oo?t=2h24m4s

  10. Hey F-Zero and Metroid fans, This a 15-minute F-Zero X and Metroid medley. It's a part I -> part II deal, so I hope I'm not breaking protocol here. The F-Zero X track is a completely overhauled version from a DoD sub which didn't do so well (it was pretty bad actually)! The F-Zero part focuses on violin pyrotechnics, while Metroid is more laid-back and a cavernous atmosphere takes the forefront. Listen to it here. Live here. Trev Wignall
  11. Hey Guys! This is my very first post on this website and I'm excited that I found out about it. I've wanted to do arrangements/remixes of the themes from the Metroid Prime trilogy for many years now. Just recently I found the motivation to finally step up and see what I can do with it. This song contains the "Title Theme" from MP1 and I think Other M as well. I had this idea of taking the song and making it darker, more cinematic, and more aggressive with some heavy hitting drums and percussion. I tried to keep in mind the balance of familiarity (the common melody that everyone knows) and the unknown (new interesting ideas), however I've listened to it so many times while mixing that I have lost all perspective and would like to know what you guys think about it. I would really appreciate it if you could provide me with any feedback whatsoever. Hope you like it, -Rory remix - https://soundcloud.com/roryglenn/title-theme?in=roryglenn/sets/tribute-to-metroid-prime original - https://youtu.be/tBq_SueS8oo?t=1s
  12. hi, this is my first post here and I have been thinking a lot about posting this, since it isn't exactly a straightforward remix of Metroid2. I have always liked the music to the first 3 Metroid games the most, it was abstract, dark and fun. So I started working on my interpretation of how Metroid 2 might sound if it was a movie or maybe a 3d game in todays world. I have worked on this on and off for about 2 years and although it is nearing completion it's not yet entirely finished. To keep the music more in-line with the entire franchise I have added themes from other Metroid games where appropriate, while also adding some themes of my own. comments of whatever kind, be it even harsh criticism, is very welcome. i do hope tho, that you'll enjoy it https://soundcloud.com/mbfb/sets/metroid-2-return-of-samus
