  1. This is my work-in-progress of "Natural Killer Cyborg" from Mother 3. It is pretty much only the backing track. I still don't have the guitar and bass parts recorded yet. I can't record them until I get a my Pod XT Live (recording device.) The drum track, and synth stuff is finished though. http://ocrwip.fireslash.net/?fid=755 I feel like something about the EQ needs improvement, but I don't know what it is. EDIT: Here is the source.

  3. Alright, I'm throwing myself down on the sacrifice table... or something less dramatic. -- This is a remix of the Metropolis theme from Sim City for the SNESI recently got Reason and have been hobbling my way through it. It comes with a great demo track called 'Narrow Escape' and I was kind of using it to observe and see how things worked. It helped me learn how to build my own instruments and how to route stuff. I did this by having it open on the left and a blank slate on the right and seeing if I could go through all of the nuances and details and actually duplicate the same sound on my own. Through doing this, I half-accidently realized that the rough composition and sound would work really well with this song, and I was a big SNES Sim-City freak as well, so it all works out. Anyway, it may border on taking too much from the work of the artists that created the original 'Narrow Escape' (including the title, but I think it works) But I think it is made enough from my own to be classified as --paraphrasing-- especially the melody and chorus synths, which were born all from my own creation! Regardless of all of that, I've spent the last few weeks antagonizing over every little detail in it and I kinda want to share it with the community.

  5. My latest remix I've been working on, and it is indeed another FFVIII track (I've been playing through it again recently so i'm a bit addicted to its music) Upoaded through tindeck this time because soundcloud seem to be pretty pants. Let me know what you think, it also has a bit of The Landing in there. Thanks! (oh and the source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUu2olqwZ8s)
  6. Hey! I'm new here. Been a little scared of posting here, what with all the *really* talented people. I started making my own remixes over a year ago now, and formed a three-piece band dedicated to it with two of my VGM loving friends. We've always been based in a rock sound, sometimes experimenting with other genres. I finally got the courage to post some of my work here. I made this back in September of this year, a solo effort including transposing the notes from the original song. Guitars, bass, piano, drums, synth choir. http://www.mediafire.com/?ttmmmyuk3y2 I really want to hear what people think of it! I'm quite proud of it myself, though its more of a cover than a remix. Any suggestions are, of course, more than welcome. :]
  7. Did this joint a while back, but only half of it. Got around to completing it. As I've stated before, I prefer arrangements to all-out remixes, so this should be faithful to the original and fresh enough for your ears. I added the pianos and strings in for a little more emotional weight. I mean, it's the frickin' Doomsday Zone. So hopefully I captured that mood alright on this joint. Hope you guys enjoy it! Constructive criticism is APPRECIATED http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/327072
  8. This is my first post on OCRemix, so bear with me as I'm learning the ropes of posting here. Anywho, I was bored and whipped up this little rendition of the original Norfair theme from Metroid (NES). This joint doesn't get as much play as it deserves, compared to the Super Metroid version (still great though). So with that in mind, here ya go Original version: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/327199 P.S. Yeah....I went there (referring to the title )
  9. Okay. It's me again. So apparently MIDIs are a big no-no here, eh? Oh well. I was hoping for some feedback on that. So about this remix. This is an orchestral remix of one of my favorite themes from Final Fantasy IX, and maybe one of my all time favorite game themes. When I first found OCRemix.org, this theme, plus the Legend of Zelda Theme and Gerudo Valley, was what I first looked for, and I think I downloaded every remix of the theme at the time. Okay, so, this remix is orchestral, and very much influenced by soundtracks like Star Trek, and Star Wars, and the like. Its also a bit of a test of an orchestral VST which I recently got my hands on. So far I'm liking it. If 'Ride of the Hero' gets a No (resub) then I might just redo it with this VST. Any suggestions, constructive critisisms, and comments are welcome. Stuff I'd Like to Do: - On the last runthrough of the 'chorus' (B section of the source?) have a choir voice (or a series of real recorded voices) go along with the melody. Maybe a future collab post... - er... Thats it really. As always, Enjoy! Version 4 ---------- - Once again attempted to humanize the instruments a little more - Changed out the intro with something... simpler... Crap, imo, but I don't know what else to do - Changed the outro - Added more reverb - Altered the harp section to be more... harpish... - Tried to make the solo cello suck less - Altered the final iteration of the second half of the original tune Version 3 ---------- - Instead of using the Solo Cello Vibrato, I changed it to plain-ol' Solo Cello, and manually set the vibrato to kick in after a certain amount of time. I'm hoping this at least makes it sound better than before, although it will never compare to a real Cello. - Changed up a few parts (hope you hear 'em. Let me know what you think) - Tweaked the Eq some more. Hope it helps. Version 2 ---------- - Tried to make it less mechanical (emphasis on 'tried'... not sure if I succeeded) \- Tried to give some parts a more ebb and flow feel - replaced the corny cornet with a solo cello and Eq'd it forward more cause it wasn't very audible - tried to make the strings less exposed - Added some vibrato to the strings. hope it helps. note: wasn't sure where (besides the intro) the strings were too drawn out, and as far as the intro goes... I haven't the foggiest how to make it more realistic. *shrug* Any tips or suggestions on that front would be appreciated.
  10. Remember this? http://www.box.net/shared/y0pzv72tm1 Well I decided that using one of my originals wasn't going to cut it, so I closed down shop for a while, and worked on more originals. I recently decided to give it another shot, but instead of using one of my originals, I would build it up from scratch, using some newly acquired techniques from here. So here it is so far: http://www.box.net/shared/4kk58j75aq INITIAL POST: The build up. It's kind of unfinished, but I will get to everything else in time. For one, I need a crash cymbal, as well as a closed hat, and bass. As well as some other things. EDIT 1: Nearly done the buildup. Still can't find a cymbal I like. I think this sounds loads better than the old version already. Any problems I should fix so far? EDIT 2: STILL no cymbal, but I have some of the main melody in. Slow going now because I need to think this carefully. EDIT 3: More of the main melody. The strings repeat because I have not yet edited them, heh I hope eventually to submit this as an OCReMix.
  11. I've been making music for about....2(?) years now, some stuff good, some stuff abominable(It all revolves around techno.) These are probably my best(?) ones, but I'm never satisfied with ANY of my work, 'cause I never think I'm finished. Just asking for some tips and comments. http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/325769 Twisted Spring and http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/317799 Heart's Wings I post my stuff on newgrounds right now, 'cause I know of nowhere else to put 'em. These are for a game I'm trying to make....dunno where I'm gonna put 'em though. Have listen fun plz!
  12. so i'm back w/ another attempt at EDM, this time ripping off a bit of moonbeam, a bit of deadmau5...i like the main idea to this, but i've hit a bit of a wall as far as ideas on how it should be paced and so on. i think i'd like there to be a break between the first melody and the second, the second being the sort of climax of the track. any thoughts? swampy v1
  13. Hello everyone, this is my first time posting a WIP, so I have no idea how this works. Anyways, I've been working on a piano arrangement of the song Earth Painting from Legend of Mana, and would really like some feedback. It's currently only a minute and a half, and right now I'm just using a random piano VST, but if you could let me know what you think, I'd appreciate it. Thanks! EDIT: Uploaded a newer version. Still nowhere near finished (It's actually shorter than it used to be :S), but I've added a lot, so I'd love to hear what you think. Click here to listen to Earth Painting Demo.mp3
  14. May be in progress or finished maybe something can be wrong there ^^ here is the one : Edit: http://www.mediafire.com/?mogtezx55yy (some change, i think it's better) let me know what you think
  15. Not the best title.... but I couldn't find another one. So.... I hope you're all cool with Youtube HD! .. For better quality.... I guess....
  16. Did this for my Digital Art "Sound Art" Project. When my Prof compared it to Phillip Glass, I thought I should refine it more. Hence, it is here. I took the base theme's midi, synthesized some sounds and put them into Audacity. The structure is my own brand of chaos. Note: The Decay of the Distorted Guitar at the end sounds tinny as crap, but I don't know how to fix it atm. I also don't own a guitar, know how to play one or know anyone who does for the simple solution. I call it, "Riding The Lightning" for no reason whatsoever.
  17. Hi there, new to the site, just wanted to say that I'm working on something new and orchestral for the first time (was inspired by the Mass Effect 2 guy after finding out he did everything in FL Studio) and I've used it for various projects before since 2002 but nothing orchestral. Check it out let me know what you think, I'm having a little trouble with the drums and accents and where to place them but hopefully I will get better at that For this I used Edirol Orchestral and Miroslav Philharmonic... Click here for the link Cheers, WiKiD
  18. Ok so just to let you guys know. I'm still workin on the Lucky Number Show Remix. I'm leanin more towards no vocals so I'll have that decision by tomorrow. If I don't add vocals then it'll be done much faster. But anyways on to my Zelda Remix. I'm sure you've all heard tefnek's 'the end' remix for FFVII, well this remix is inspired by that remix. And I'm using Zircons shreddage for the guitar part. First - Now bear with me, I've never officially mixed guitars into my music so I don't know anything about humanization or mixing guitars so I need some pointers with that. Second - The hip hop/electronic section the beginning isn't 100% finished, nor is the guitar section and that transition isn't final either I just threw that in there to let you guys know that I suck with transitions and I need some help with that lol. Third - I know production may not be there so if you guys have any production critiques I could use those as well. Fourth - I'm goin for a dark sound so if there are any other elements that you guys think would sound good or pre exisiting sounds that could be tweaked to help with the dark sound, let me know. Anyways please help a brotha out lol, hope you guys at least enjoy it xD. Remix
  19. Sources: Demonic Timbre Final Cry (bassline only, so far) WIP: Click here This is fairly unpolished at the moment, but I wanted to see how others felt about the arrangement and basic concept. Too similar? Not enough variation? Needs more instrumental depth? Throw whatever you can think at it, I could use all the feedback I can get.
  20. original (duhh..) http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=chemical+plant&aq=f my ver http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/326954 as ealways... i need some constructive critique on this, i think its a bit noisy, but there are more things that i should change here?
  21. Original My version http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/326957 i'm a really n00b on creating solos, i worked hard trying to fit this on a hearable quality, i need to know more things to pu in or take out here
  22. Here's a fun little version of treetop tumble I have in the works... My other posted remixes are flops, because, well, you've got to hear them to know why. Hopefully this is a little better. http://Mirror.Electrolisystem.com/dropboxmirror/mirror1/treetop_terror.mp3 http://Mirror.Electrolisystem.com/dropboxmirror/mirror1/treetop_terror.wav I hope that these sound a bit more quantized for... peoples tastes. all the best, Electrolisystem
  23. Wow. This place looks different! It's been a long, long, long time since I last logged in here. Anyhow, I was pumped when I heard about the Alice sequal on McGee's site. Some of us over there are throwing together a little remix project of the original score by Chris Vrenna. I love this soundtrack and figured I'd take a picklestab at my favorite track from it. I'd say it's about 90-95% done. I'm pleased with the layout and flow, but I'm horrendous at mixing/fine tuning my pieces, so I thought I'd head back to my old stomping grounds and put it through the OC community gauntlet to see what some true talents think of it. The thing about Vrenna's style on this whole soundtrack is that it's so unique, achieving variation from it through my own sound should be a slam dunk. The original is slow and ambient, but powerful. I picked the speed up a bit and tried to give it some bite in an electronia-esque (I guess it would be called, I don't really put much stock in labels and genres) type of sound. 2 sources to grab it from, take your pick: Click here to download Pandemonium (Hexane Migraine remix).mp3 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2TISWQY2 EDIT: BTW, I go mostly by the handle GrimmHatter now. Thought I should stress that so no one thinks I'm stealing this.
  24. Hey all! Been a while since I check into OCR, glad to see everyone is still cruising. This is a section of a housey mix of Search Man's Theme from megaman 8, with some electro elements in it too. I hope this produces smiles! www.siamey.com/ocrtemp/heath_morris_-_search_man_shuffle_megaman_8.mp3
  25. Okay, right off the bat I want to say that I'm not looking for mixing/mastering/sample quality feedback for this. Why? Cause its a MIDI. Now before you all stone me, let me explain. I can't play guitar worth beans. I cannot purchase Shreddage for I am paying for college via my income working as a courtesy clerk. I can, however work on my composition skills. And what better way to do that then through MIDI, ne? Specifically via TuxGuitar. See, eventually I'd like to be able to turn one of my metal MIDIs into an actual song, whether through a collaboration (which is probably the best option, atm) or through my own l33t guitar skillz... . So, I would really appreciate some feedback as to composition before I go and request a collab. On to the remix! Robotnik's Metal Ambush MIDI Robotnik's Metal Ambush Tab PS The Tab file is in *.tg format. TuxGuitar doesn't save as anything other tab format. Version 2 --------------- - Extended to 3:14 (from the original 2:00) - Within the extension: \ Varied up the rhythm guitar section | A bit of a breakdown with original symphonic elements | Another run-through of the original melody / Changed the ending
