New Worm On The Loose!!!

A worm is a program hash that has several effects. One example is the code red worm that hacks sites and says this:

"Welcome to site example"

Hacked by Chinese!"

Well, there is a new one. For some people running browsers, a new tab appears by itself with a warning window written in Java, saying "Active Infections are found on your computer. Click here to scan."

It "scans" your computer and claims you have 3 malware cookies, a tracker, a worm, and a trojan.

If you try to click cancel, it attempts to download something, and that something is a worm. The effects are as of yet unkown, and it may be caused by a bot cpu system (a series of computers connected together) and if this happens to you, close the tab and take no chances.

A friendly warning from Namo.

Be safe when checking your emails! More info:

Seems this Worm is on the move again as snopes updated

The info as of Mar 312008

Anyone-using Internet email

This information arrived this morning direct from both Microsoft and

Norton.

Please send it to everybody you know who has access to the

Internet.

You may receive an apparently harmless e-mail titled

"Mail Server Report"

If you open either file message will appear on your screen saying:

'It is too late now your life is no longer beautiful.'

Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC and the person who

Sent it to you will gain access to your name-mail and password.

This is a new virus which started to circulate last Saturday afternoon.

AOL has already confirmed the severity and the anti virus software's

Are not capable of destroying it.

The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself 'life

owner'.

PASS IT ON IMMEDIATELY!

THIS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY SNOPES

Apprently, that's the message you'll get from the worm's creator.

Did anyone actually check snopes?

http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/mailserver.asp <--- While the mail server report worn is real, it's not new nor rampant.

As for the life is beautiful --->http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/life.asp

Hate to say it, but the second one's all about philosophizing on the fragility of life instead of destroying your computer ;)

I had the little box pop up for XPScanner or something with a "yes" and a "no" option. It minimized my browser and wouldn't let me restore it. I just hit the power button because I wasn't sure what I was fucking with.

My sister had the same thing happen to her on her PC yesterday.

Oddly, I only had OCR & Photobucket up. Must've been Photobucket... right OCR? <.<

Worm = real.

The pop-up window is generated by the worm itself. McAfee doesn't detect it yet, Ad-Aware doesn't find it yet, Spyware doctor doesn't find it yet, Spybot doesn't find it yet...totally. Spybot's TeaTimer DOES detect it trying to jack up my registry. I've clicked "Deny Change" a million times and it keeps popping up. Of course I know that pop-up isn't legit. It's not even close to a real McAfee window.

I saw this one when I logged onto OCR. When the pop-up blocker blocked the OCR PM message, this other joker popped underneath. I highlighted the link so as to see where the link went to. No, I did not click it.

Everyone beware.
