NNY
Now, while I agree, Lupin III's music was the best music until Cowboy Bebop hit the scene, cheesy j-pop is fun once in a while.
Synchronicity
Cowboy Bebop is totally unchallenged as far as music in a show goes IMO. It matched the mood and setting of the show perfectly. Yoko&Seatbelts = excellence.
OverCoat
I actually prefer Yoko Kanno's work on Ghost in the Shell and Sousei No Aquarion more >_>
Kenobio
Aside from the awesomely bad opening and ending songs, Berserk had a few really great tracks, such as "Earth": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOD_O7S-8gA&feature=related Annnnnnd this guilty pleasure song, "Berserk Forces"
cobaltstarfire
I could never chose between Yoko Kanno, all of the music I've hear of hers from Various Anime is spot on and great. She's got every genre out there mastered it seems, be it pop, jazz, or symphonic... Speaking of symphonic, I need to get a hold of some Escaflowne music... TheSnowStorm
ALSO I would love a Lupin remix but nobody's even tried it yet. These lovely ladies says "hi"!

OverCoat
I could never chose between Yoko Kanno, all of the music I've hear of hers from Various Anime is spot on and great. She's got every genre out there mastered it seems, be it pop, jazz, or symphonic... She also "borrows" quite a bit, ex. "On the Run" from cowboy bebop is basically "on the run" from Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, though she changes the song up enough so it's legally a different song - people have cited, like... dozens of different examples, but that's the one I know. I still <3 her music though I have a thread about it on a better forum: http://www.animeremix.org/animix_forums/viewtopic.php?id=1976
cobaltstarfire
I don't think I really know many artists be they in music or visual art that don't "borrow" stuff from time to time in one way or another on purpose or not. I might go check that forum linky out later, but as of now I'm too incoherent.
Aninymouse
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0jNYDjBz6E&feature=related(disregarded the first song I had posted originally.) REAL music is what anime music needs! Not the typical j-pop bullshit you hear in some anime. I love howLupin's score uses a live big band to perform their songs! Show me any other anime songs that could rival Lupin's soundtrack! (inb4cowboybebop) Hey OP, check out Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra! All their other ska music is pretty badass, too. The Legendary Zoltan
You guys come in here with a limp in your step and all your classical anime knowledge. . . But FAIL to mention "My Omelette" !!! This song exists on a completely new tier of "anime opening themes respect" because it's pop music and "real" music at the same time. Paying tribute to everyone's favorite omelette-destroying classical composer Beethoven while simultaneously making omelettes sound appealing to the younger generation. There's hardly a masterpiece that makes as daring a mix of ingredients as this one. Kindgom Hearts 2 spoilers, I think. http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=0Zh25PnNFtA

AzureZeal
No, that's not it. It was the same song that you posted, but there was a Japanese male singer in it. Cartoon Network used to show it back when they were showing Lupin. Perhaps I'll find it.
