I'm sure some of you are familiar with artists like 8-bit artist (http://www.myspace.com/8bitartist) and Doctor Octoroc (http://www.doctoroctoroc.com/bead-sprites/) - well lately (as in the last year or so) my friends have begun making bead projects (BEES?! No not bees, beaDs. BEADS?!) and lately they finished two extensive projects that I would like to share with you all.

As fellow video game enthusiasts you should be able to appreciate these. In terms of time, the two projects combined took 6 months of dedicated work from guys who are working 40 hours and still hold down regular social lives and girlfriends, etc.etc.etc.

Without further ado, let's take a look at the pictures!

Any comments/criticism welcomed!

EDIT: 12/21 Please check out my friend James's blog at http://www.atimewellwasted.com/ for more pictures of amazing beadsprite designs! Here's a teaser:

I think the amazingness and intensity of this thing has just melted my brain. I usually don't go so crazy for this type of crap - but damn this not only looks great but brings back so many memories (sheds tear)... I love you 16-bit Squaresoft, and I will never forget you... (sniffle)

These may be of interest. Although they're kind of hard to find. I lucked out and got the last huge set (the 2700 piece cube that they don't make anymore) at a local education museum... and then found another marked down to half price a few months ago at some little toy store in a small town I stopped off at on the way to somewhere else.

So my friend was back to work making a clock using custom sprites from the various Final Fantasy games.

It was a birthday present for our other friend, who did the Chrono Trigger beadsprite I posted earlier. He was very pleased.

I've wanted to try this sort of thing for a long time. I still have a nice set of Beads from when I was 10yo but I can't find a place to buy bead refills. They have some at Wal-Mart but it's not from the same cie mine are and they don't offer the smaller size of beads I use, only the 3-5yo big ass ones that are incompatible with mine. I don't feel like buying the whole thing again while I could keep using my old one and improve it.

There's a website but their online shop doesn't ship outside the US D:

Okay, time for a bump!

My friend James decided to do beadsprite projects as Christmas presents for many of his friends. For the most part he did a "versus" theme, although for mine he decided to go a little differently.

As I get pictures of the others I'll put them up; all of them are really great looking. My personal favorite (excluding this one he made for me) was the SF2 Ryu vs Ken.

LuketheXJesse asked: Who made these? Almost all were done by my friend James (http://atimewellwasted.com)
