Gollgagh
I've heard more of the PS1 overheating than the PS2 I've never had a single playstation unit overheat on me before though (and I've left my playstation 1 on for a week at a time) so the people that reported overheating errors probably kept theirs in a box or something also my collection may not be quite as big as anso's but I'm pretty sure I have close to a hundred (I'm still adding them to my backloggery one by one) alsø alsø wik, honestly the game that comes to my mind as having the most memorable, hang-on-to-your-pants awesome complete package is MGS3: Subsistence

The Damned
Wait.. was the PS2 the one Sony was all "ten year lifespan" about? If so, they actually made one of their crazy claims for once. Good for you, Sony!
Gollgagh
no, that was the PS3 they've got another six years to go for that
noTuX
I tend to play my PS1 more than my PS2, even though I have a PS3. And I don't know why.

Palpable
I have way more nostalgia (and games) for the NES and SNES, but the PS2 was an extremely well-designed console, and it was the first one that made me jump ship from Nintendo. It had a lot of features like the DVD player and backwards compatibility with PS1 that made me think, "huh, why weren't consoles always doing this?" The library is huge and awesome, a sign that it was probably easy to develop on, and I've had only minor loading issues with mine, even though I got it in 2001. It was also the first DVD player I owned, and as a nice coincidence, the first movie I watched on it was...
Nase
i had my PS2 replaced 2 times within the first week. the first one's video output didnt work, the second one couldn't read any DVD iirc. the 3rd one is like a rock. 8 years of usage, no issues at all. It's mostly a tekken station these days, but i'll eventually get around to playing the persona series and some other reportedly brilliant stuff i've held out on. prophetik music
for PS1, i've got the classicsl: FF7, FF8, and chrono cross. wasn't a fan of FF9, and while i owned FF origins and anthology at one point, the DS version of chrono trigger and the GBA versions of FF1 and 2 (on my psp) make up for not paying fifty dollars a set
zircon
I bought a PS2 in high school after seeing the trailer for the game Disgaea and playing it once at a friend's house. I also had to buy the memory card and the game itself, making it technically the most expensive game I've ever purchased. But oh man was it worth it... I love Disgaea.
